"Wen will the bwaby come outh?"
Sonmi smiled at the adorableness of the two year old. His chubby fingers glazed her pregnant belly, with a touch so soft that it felt like a bird's feather. It was as if he was afraid he might hurt the baby inside.
"Soon, Taetae. Baby will come very soon." Sonmi's heart filled with happiness at the way the little boy's face lit up.
He pressed his face on to the bump, keeping his cheek there while caressing it with his fingers. "Come outh shoon, bwaby. Tete wan shee chu."
Sonmi ruffled the boy's hair affectionately, before taking his small hand to her own and walking towards the pack house.
She could hardly wait to meet the baby too. Her first child, and if the pack doctor has read the signs true, then this will be her only child too.

"Relax, Hyun-ah. It will be okay."
Jeon Junghyun looked at his friend with an irritated look, but Taemin could very well see the underlying fear and nervousness in it. He knew to read Junghyun like an open book, after all, they had been friends their whole lives.
"I remember how relaxed you were when Taehyung was born. You almost fainted when you heard the first cry. And then cried too." Junghyun snapped back, but both knew it was only done playfully.
"Dada cwried?" Taehyung, who had been sitting on his father's lap, looked up at the pacing figure.
Junghyun stopped his walking and bent towards the small boy. "He sure did, Taetae. He was so happy and proud to have you in his arms, that he couldn't stop crying."
"Buth cwrying ish wen we're shad. Wash dada shad?" The little boy couldn't understand the concept of happy tears.
"No, baby. Sometimes we cry when we are really, really happy too." This time, it was his father, Kim Taemin answered the question.
"Ohh.." The little boy seemed to be thinking hard about something, as his face scrunched up. "Wen the bwaby comth, Tete will cwry thoo."
Both men smiled affectionately at the innocent and pure mind of the small boy's words. And they were sure that it's something that will surely happen. Taehyung seemed to be more excited than the baby's own parents.

A loud shriek from the labour room snapped both men's head towards thay way. Junghyun couldn't help the whimper that slipped passed his lips, as his heart was too scared about his mates condition.
Jeon Sonmi's pregnancy had turned out to be a very complicated one. Due to the positioning of the baby as well as her own body's condition, the pregnancy was deemed dangerous. There was only slight chance of the baby's survival and it also posed a huge threat to her life.
The doctors even went as far as hinting about aborting the child, but Sonmi didn't agree to it at all. She had a hard time conceiving so she was not gonna give up on the baby, even if it cost her life.
Jeon Junghyun was the head alpha of The White Claw pack. It was Sonmi's responsibility to give her husband and his pack an heir. Nothing that anyone said had any effect on her stubbornness.
Junghyun didn't pressure her in to anything, as he understood that it was mostly her decision. He didn't want his mate to die but he was not heartless to tell a mother to kill her child too. All he could do was to pray to the moon goddess, to keep his mate and their unborn child safe.
Another scream was heard and Junghyun felt his hands shaking a bit too. He may be an alpha but the pain of his loved ones was enough to bring him to his knees. Taemin was just about to get up to comfort his friend when Taehyung got down from his lap.
The little boy walked on his wobbly legs to Junghyun and wrapped his small arms around the man's torso. "Nuu wolly, uncwle. Mwommy will look afther them."
Junghyun bit back a sob when another scream filled the air. He ruffled the little boy's hair, finding some strength in that small hug.
There was another loud scream and as soon as it finished, another one took its place. But this time, it was more high-pitched.
It was a new born baby's cry.
Junghyun fell back on to the chair, and Taemin hugged him. They both were relieved to some extent, they just need to hear that both mother and child survived.
The door to the labour room opened and Yoona, Taehyung's mother walked out. She had a small smile on her face but there was a bit of a worry in it too.

She looked at Junghyun and beckoned him inside. "Congratulations, alpha. You have a baby boy."
Junghyun chuckled breathlessly and wiped his tears that he hasn't noticed up until now. He gave a nod to Yoona, before rushing in to the labour room to see his mate and their child.
Taemin took a cautious step towards Yoona, while looking at her face carefully. Something seem to be bothering her.
"Yoona?" He called in a soft voice and Yoona sighed as a response.
Without saying anything else, Taemin and Yoona walked inside too, with little Taehyung holding his father's hand.
Junghyun was standing next to Sonmi's bed, with a grateful and proud smile on his face. He had a small bundle in his arms, covered with a soft blanket. When the Kim family walked in, Junghyun looked up at them, with sparkling eyes.
"Taetae." Junghyun called in a soft voice. "Do you wanna see the baby?"
Taehyung looked up his mother to get her approval. When Yoona gave a nod and a smile, he walked toward Junghyun, who were now on one knee, so that he would be at the same hight at Taehyung.
Junghyun gently adjusted the blanket a bit, so that Taehyung could see the sleeping baby properly. He was beautiful. His body was of the softest pink colour, totally contrasting with his raven black hair.
Taehyung's eyes shined like the full moon, as his mouth opened a bit in wonder.
"Pwetty bwaby." His baby voice held so much love and adoration, that it made everyone in the room to have their eyes filled with happy tears.
Taehyung gently touched the baby's hand, which was tightly clenched in to a fist. As Taehyung's finger glazed over the new-born's hand, his fist unbleached slightly. Taehyung let out a gasp, when the baby wrapped his tiny fingers around his finger, holding it with an uncomprehensible strength.
"Mwommy! Mwommy, look!" Taehyung whisper shouted to his mother. "Bwaby ish holding tete'sh finger."
Yoona gave a soft smile to his son. "Guess he likes you, Taetae."
Taehyung's smile was as proud as it could possibly be. He beamed at his parents, then at Junghyun and Sonmi. And then back to the sleeping baby, who still had his finger in his tight grasp.
"Pwetty bwaby." Taehyung cooed again. "Me like chu thoo."

After Sonmi and the baby was settled and fell asleep, Junghyun walked out of the room. Taemin was waiting outside, with Taehyung sitting next to him, playing with his toys.
"So.." Taemin didn't knew how to start the conversation. "He's an Omega."
The words were not pitying or troubled. It was a simple statement. The head alpha's long awaited child, was an male Omega. While it was considered as the highest blessing a pack could have, it did complicated the situation about the future leader.
As the doctors predicted, Sonmi's womb was damaged beyond salvation and so she will not be able to conceive another child. After all the hell she went through, she will not be able to give the next leader for this pack.
Junghyun just hummed and kneeled in front of Taehyung, who looked up with attention.
"Taetae?" Junghyun called with a soft smile on his lips.
"Yeth, Uwncle Junghee?"
"When you grow up, will you look after our pack?"
Taemin gasped and drew a hard breath but didn't interrupt the moment. This may seem like a casual conversation with a two year old but Taemin knew better. Junghyun was pledging to transfer the leadership, officially, to his son.
Taehyung looked little confused at first but then his eyes became focused. "like uwncle Junghee dwo now?"
"Yes, baby. Just like uncle Junghyun do now." Junghyun had the softest smile on his face as he waited for the answer.
"Owkay." Taehyung replied and nod his head too. "Tete will look afther the pwack. And-and bwaby."
Junghyun ruffled Taehyung's hair affectionately before getting up. He looked at Taemin, who had a nervous look on his face.
"Hyun-ah, are you sure about this?"
"Min-ah.. you're my best friend, one of the few people I trust with my whole heart, apart from my mate. I don't consider Taehyung any less than my own child. I'll be honoured to pass the leadership to him." Junghyun answered with such clarity, that Taemin couldn't help but nod his head.
Kim Taehyung will be the next head alpha of The White Claw pack.

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.

Summoned
“Per aspera ad astra." Death. Mercilessly, it comes for all. But when a young man is given a second chance – a second life – to experience what he never has, what will he do? Leave the burdens of his past behind, improving upon his faults? Or will he collapse back into old sins, wasting the opportunity given to him? Perhaps even he himself does not know. * Join Andre on his journey as he explores a new world – one ripped straight from the pages of a D&D campaign he's never played. He will face monsters. He will face men. And above all, he will face himself. The story’s genre is your standard progression fantasy, isekai: magic, a system, and a level of technology suspiciously underdeveloped. I’ve borrowed tropes from various books I’ve read like “The Second Coming of Gluttony”. The similarities are there (particularly in the beginning), but I assure you the story is my own. It’s in the first-person perspective and has its own quirks, characters, and world for you to become immersed in. The upload schedule for this will be different from the usual fictions on this site: I’ll release chapters in batches rather than so many a week. I’m a college student, so I don’t want another deadline to worry about. Depending on the popularity/demand of the series, I might increase or decrease the rate of releases. Other than that, I hope you enjoy the story! P.S. This is my first fiction so make sure to point out mistakes wherever you see them. I’m doing this, partly, to increase my skill as a writer. However, be kind! I’m fragile, you know? Warning: ***This is far from your happy-go-lucky, feel-good adventure story. There will be content that some of you might not be comfortable with. And if you're already feeling skeptical reading this, click away and don't come back. If you're still here, what are you waiting for?***

Points of Light - An Oral History of the Collapse
Humanity endures. The phrase is not only an informal slogan of the reformed United Nations, but a rallying cry the world over. Even in the face of extermination, we struggled, we fought, and we endured. But just how close did we actually come? In our darkest hour, how many steps separated our species from oblivion? And are we even safe now? Were the mistakes made by earlier generations really so obvious? Or are they only so blatent when we look back with the advantage of hindsight? If so, what horrors might be staring us in the face even now that no one has the foresight to prevent? Drawn from thousands of interviews, as well as uncorrupted contemporary recordings and source documentation dating back to the early 2000s; Points of Light is a definative look at the last half century of upheaval, prosperity and carnage.
