《Mito's Sister. (Uchiha Madara)》Chapter 17.

I want to dedicate this chapter to a good friend. She quit Wattpad, and thus won't read this, but I don't care. I wrote this chapter for her anyway.
I poked Madara's cheek, but once again, he didn't respond. His eyes were closed, and his bangs hung in front of his face. I had to admit; Madara looked pretty cute when he was asleep.
Keiji sighed and rubbed his temples. ''Asami-san, leave him be. He worked the whole night.''
I pouted and poked Madara again. ''I don't care. It's his fault for working till midnight.'' I chuckled. For once, he didn't have that frown on his face, making him look peaceful. He'll get wrinkles if he always keeps that frown on his face. Always when he was doing paperwork, he would frown, like he was thinking very deeply about something.
I came here to ask Madara if I could help him. I didn't have anything to do lately. With Yumi being injured, and Hashirama and Mito busy with planning their wedding, I had nothing to do. Mito told me she didn't need my help yet, and I already visited Yumi today. She was already doing better, and she can move around know, but she still needs rest.
But since Madara was the Uchiha clan leader, he couldn't go out whenever he wanted to, so I figured I should just help him with his paperwork. I didn't mind doing it. Listening to Madara's complaints all day is pretty amusing.
I poked Madara's cheek again, but his time I got a response. Madara stirred a bit, making more hair fall in front of his face. I smirked smugly as I brought my forefinger to his face again. Watching his reactions was pretty funny.
Keiji suddenly grabbed my wrist, stopping my movement. ''Stop it, Asami-san.'' he whined. ''Madara-sama will not be happy about this.''
I sighed and nodded. ''Fine, I'll stop.''
Keiji smiled gratefully, and glanced at the sleeping male. I wonder if he would wake him up. I didn't know till how late he worked, but it was already noon now. When Keiji pursed his lips, and letting out a soft sigh, he turned around. I smiled. He wasn't paying attention.
I raised my hand, but before I could poke Madara's cheek again, a hand grabbed my finger.
''Do that again and I won't hesitate to bite your finger off.'' Madara growled as he raised his head from the table. I chuckled nervously as he released me. Somebody woke up in a bad mood. Madara sighed as he ran his hands through his hair. ''What are you doing here, Asami?''

''Can't I visit anymore?'' I asked. ''I came to help though.''
''How exactly are you helping?'' Madara grumbled as he picked up his pencil and took a good look at the papers on his desk. He was being very grumpy. ''If you don't appreciate it, then I'll go.'' I mumbled as I got off his desk, but I was stopped when a firm hand grabbed my wrist. ''Wait.'' I heard Madara sigh. ''I didn't mean it like that. I just woke up after I worked for hours.. I don't understand why you even want to help me.''
I smiled and turned around. ''Since Keiji can't help you lately, I thought I would do it, so I can be useful, and I learn a few things at the same time.''
It's true that Madara had to work longer now Keiji was almost every day away from Konoha. He, and a few others, were still searching for the remaining members of the Takana clan. That clan hurt many innocent people in this village, and Hashirama wanted to bring them to justice, so he appointed a few people to the task to track them down and bring them to the village.
I looked at Asami. Wanting to be useful? She cared too much about what others thought of her, while she didn't care about that when I first met her. Does she have the feeling she isn't doing enough? It's true that Asami doesn't really have to do something specifically in the village, like leading a clan, take care of the sick, or work in a restaurant or whatever. It's true that Asami gets food, drinks, everything she needs, without really working for it. Did she think she was being spoilt? Is that why she wants to help so badly?
It's not that I don't want her help or something. In fact, the previous time she helped me out, she did pretty well. After a few questions, she knew what to do and did it in silence. But why me? Why doesn't she help Hashirama, Hiroaki, or Mito?
''Madara-sama.'' Keiji's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. ''I'll be off now, the rest is already waiting for me outside.''
I nodded and Keiji left my office.
When I looked back at Asami, I saw the redhead taking the seat next to me. ''So, what can I do, Uchiha-san?''
I opened one of my drawers and took out a few rapports. ''Can you look through these? To see if there are any mistakes?''
Asami nodded and grabbed the papers, but frowned at me when I didn't let go. ''Uchiha-san?''

''You don't need to be so formal with me.'' I murmured. ''Just call me Madara.''
After I said that, I turned my gaze away from her and focused on my work. From the corners of my eyes, I could see Asami smiling softly. It was actually pretty nice, having someone replace Keiji till he's back. Even though I already told Asami a few times I didn't need her help, but if she wants to help that badly..
I sighed as I entered the Uchiha compound. He had asked me to deliver something to Hashirama. I wonder what's going to happen now. Hashirama wanted Madara to become the Hokage, but Tobirama wanted Hashirama to become Hokage, so Hashirama thought it would be fair to let the people decide, but I don't think that's fair. Many people have the wrong image of Madara, thinking he's a mean and scary man, but he actually isn't. Maybe sometimes, but if you really get to know him, he's different. He's fundamentally a kind man, he just had a hard past. It's understandable that he would behave like he behaves now.
Madara had to fight for his life and clan, I never had to. I was always being protected, but when Uzushiogakure was attacked, I had to fight to survive. Many died, even my best friend. They never found his body though, but I was told that he died when a building collapsed, the rocks crushing him. Nobody could survive that. Nobody can possible survive after having a high building fall on top of you.
I looked up at the sky. Some stars were already visible. Madara and I worked the whole afternoon, barely exchanging words. No wonder Madara doesn't like Yumi. That girl can talk for hours. I can talk a lot as well, depends on what person I am around. I'd be more talkative with Yumi around than I am when I'm with Madara.
Sighing, I walked into Madara's home, and saw the door to his office standing ajar. When I came closer, I saw Madara glaring at the papers in front of him. He looked pretty tired as well. No wonder he fell asleep last night.
''I'm back..'' I announced my presence, and Madara looked up from his paperwork. ''Asami.. You can go home now. I'll handle the rest.''
I just walked all the way back, and now he's telling me to go back to where I just came from? Pouting, I walked into his office. ''Can't I help anymore? I don't mind helping you.''
''You've done enough, Asami. I don't even get it why you even want to be in this office the whole day.''
I smiled and sat down on his desk. ''It was only for a few hours.'' I mumbled as I looked at the sheet of paper. His handwriting was pretty messy, but still readable. I chuckled as I pointed at one of the words he had written. ''You're not supposed to write it like this.''
Madara frowned and looked at the words, sighing when he noticed his own mistake, and corrected it. It didn't take long until I saw more mistakes. Spelling and grammatical errors. I sighed and took the paper in my hands, feeling Madara's glare on me. ''What are you doing?'' he grumbled, wanting to finish his work already.
I frowned when Asami suddenly held her hand out. I looked at her hand, and then back at her face. What does she want?
''Pencil.'' she murmured as she kept reading the words the were written on the paper. I sighed and placed my pencil on her hand. Asami instantly began to correct all the mistakes I made. I normally had Keiji checking if everything I had written was okay, but I never thought I would make this many mistakes. You can't blame me though. If I work at night, you make more easily mistakes. (Reminds me of the time I made maths homework at midnight, and didn't get it, but when I woke up, I suddenly understood everything)
I glanced at Asami once more. She lookt so serious now, so mature with that look on her face, instead of a pout. The end of the pencil was being tapped against her lips, as she was frowning at the sheet of paper, looking for some errors. I've never really seen Asami like this, this side of her. The hard working and serious side. She used to be more laid-back, and childish. I didn't dislike this change, not at all actually. She was more likeable this way. Maybe it was because Yumi wasn't here. That girl influences Asami's behaviour, in a bad way. Yumi acts like a little kid, while she's supposed to turn 20 in a few weeks.
Moonlight shone through the half closed curtains, lighting the office a bit.
''So, all done!'' Asami grinned and she handed me back the sheet. I took it from her and looked at it, and looked than back at Asami. She was staring out of the window. A soft smile played over her features as she didn't notice me looking at her. For some reason, I felt my chest tighten a bit.
It felt good to be around her. Asami is one of the few who understands me. And that's not all..
I also felt a bit.. attracted.. to her..

Reincarnated As A Benevolent Tyrant
NOTICE: This story is under rewrite. New novel has been published. Search **RE: Tyranny** in Royalroad for the new novel.Link- Re: Tyranny Thank You! ------------------------ "Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory." What a brilliant line, isn't it? James was a boy who had nothing to worry about. A happy family, a nice childhood. What's more to ask? But one day, everything changed. He lost everything in the blink of an eye. The only thing left for him were the memories and dreams of the past. Trying to cope up with the loss, he cut all ties with the outside world and became a shut-in, having no one left to call his own or to rely upon. There was nothing left for him in this world, but still he lived and soon found a purpose in his life, which lead him to create something that could change the world. And on the very day when his dream project was about to come to the light, he lost his life, trying to save a little girl from an unfortunate accident. "Will I ever be remembered...? I wish... someone would." These were the last word James mumbled before his conscious faded into darkness. But his life didn't end there, as he is transmigrated into the body of an arrogant, worthless Duke's son in some unknown land with no memories about who is or any idea about where he is. In an era of political turmoil and civil strife, the Duke's son is forced to prove his worth for inheriting the title. Will he be able to accept the new reality and prove himself by leading this country into a prosperous future? Or will he cease to the pressure of his past and lose everything once more? Disclaimer: This is not a power-fantasy or a 'feel-good' story. If you feel a protagonist should never lack agency (especially in early story) or make compromises because of difficult circumstances, then this fiction is probably not for you. It is a story that delves deep into real world sociological/psychological subjects and explores many topics of gray morality. I wrote it because I like stories that make me think more about the world around us, not to detach myself from reality. Some aspects you can expect based on the tags include:- [Kingdom Building]: political drama, geopolitical/geoeconomic strategy- [Army Building]: massive battles featuring in-depth planning, combined arms, and operational logistics- [Identity Crisis]: someone translated into a whole different world having to rebuild their identity and life aims The story starts off slowly, more like a slice of life than action-adventure, but I guarantee you it will get there. For those who want to skip the slow part, start from Chapter - 35 (Beginning of The End) (The whole Disclaimer section is copied from Aorii as I am too busy writing the complete story.) And yes, just for General Knowledge, James will become OP throughout the story. He is not some legendary guy who will pull out Excalibur & conquer the entire world. Update Schedule - One chapter a day. This novel is also available on Scribble Hub. And again, I humbly thank you for reading it. I hope you stick throughout the journey.
