《Only you can make me feel better... (Calamity x Drift)》Chapter 41: Everything back to normal?

It has almost been an hour since Calamity passed out from when I was in our room. I'm not sure if it will work, but she did do better compared to when Brite was with her, so there may be a chance. But the only thing I can do now is just wait until she will wake up again...
While Calamity was laying in bed, I was seated next to her on the edge of the bed, holding her right hand in my hands. In the meantime, I was talking to John about Dusk. John said seriously. I asked as I looked at John, waiting for his answer as he thought about it. John said but I interrupted him. I said as I thought about the other times I saw dead bodies. It makes me feel sick.
John said as he slowly nodded. I asked as the thought hit me of her escaping. John said and I let a relieving sigh escape my lips. John said as he left our room, closing the door behind him and leaving me and Calamity in the room.
Another hour passed as John walked on the island in complete darkness, since it was late in the evening. He quickly glanced around him to make sure no one was following him, as he entered a small cave entrance. As he got in, he was now in a big, spacious cave. As he pulled out a flashlight, he looked around and saw nothing but just rocks and normal things you see in caves. But John knew where to go. He followed a small path, while the cave was getting smaller and smaller, until he had to crawl his way through. Eventually, John wasn't crawling on the cave stones, but over dirt. His knees and hands got even more dirty. He then made it to a dead end. But John didn't crawl back out. He knew what he had to do next...
He pulled out a pair of gardening gloves and started to dig the dirt up with his hands. He kept on digging for what felt like 20 minutes, until he finally felt some kind of sharp pointy thing. He dug more and more until the object revealed it self. He picked it up and held it in his hands as he looked at it.

The reckoning...
He remembered what Calamity told him some time ago. It was when Drift got kidnapped by Dusk and when John had just assembled the teams to find Drift...
"So, here is what we'll do. Tomorrow around 13:00 we go to the place were Dusk took Drift to. Calamity, do you know were they might be?" John asked turning to Calamity. "I don't know for sure, but I think they went towards west or north west." She said looking down and then back to John. John nodded and sighed. "Alright, so we need to search huh... We are splitting in teams of two." John said and then assembled the teams. "What will we do with Dusk when we catch her after we save Drift?" Technique asked. "We kill Dusk right away. I am not allowing her to cause more trouble than she already did..." John answered coldly.
As everyone was splitted up with someone, John ordered everyone to go home. But before John could go home him self, Calamity walked up to John. "Uhmm, mr. Wick. Can I talk to you for a moment please?" She asked a little nervous while fidgeting with her fingers. "Of course Calamity. Go ahead, I'm listening." John said as he payed attention. "About what you said earlier, killing Dusk. You know you can't just kill her with a gun or something." She said. "Hmm, what do you mean?" John asked as he crossed his arms over his chest and payed close attention. "Vampires won't die by a gun shot or a knife stab. They're immortal to that." Calamity explained. "So what can kind of weapon can kill vampires then?" John asked curiously.
"The reckoning... It is a sort of staff with a sharp point to it, like a pencil. You could say that point is venomous for vampires. I hid it at the end of a cave near Fatal Fields, where it's dug in the ground." She answered. "Okay... Thanks for telling me how to kill a vampire, but why should I know where you hid your weapon?" John asked as he got a little suspicious. Calamity got a little nervous now. She let out a sigh before answering "Because John, I know Dusk will be after me, after I killed Sanctum of course. I want you to know where it's hidden, so that you can kill her whenever I'm not able to... when she maybe gets her hands on me... and kills me..." Calamity said as she looked down. John put a hand on her shoulder, making her look up to John again. "Hey, she won't get you or kill you, okay? You have a whole team by your side that protects you." John said with a reassuring smile. "Thank you John." Calamity said as she returned a smile. "No problem kid. Now go home and get some rest before we go out to find Drift." John said as he left the HQ, and so did Calamity.

*End of flashback*
John just stared at the Reckoning, knowing it was now his job to do it. As soon as John crawled back in the spacious cave, he left the place and started walking towards the HQ.
As he arrived at the HQ, he immediately went down to the cell area and was met by Dire and Abstract, guarding the cell, making sure Dusk wouldn't escape. " Dire asked as he pointed to the weapon he was holding. John said as his eyes went over to Dusk, who quickly looked at John, but soon widen her eyes as she saw what John was holding in his hands. Dusk asked nervously. John asked as he unlocked the cell door and entered the cell. The point of the Reckoning started to have a sort of smoke coming off of it as it got closer to the frightened vampire.
Dusk said as she struggles to get away, but was still in chains. John replied with a smirk. John came closer to Dusk, and the smoke got even more as it was real close to Dusk now. Dusk begged as she could feel her eyes swelling up with tears. John said as he raised his voice. He brought the Reckoning high up, ready to drop it down on Dusk. Dusk quietly begged as she started sobbing, while looking down on the ground. John didn't listen to her begs. Instead, he swung the Reckoning down on Dusk, and the point went right through her stomach, letting a gasp escape her lips, and let out her last breath...
While still waiting for Calamity to wake up, I was constantly worrying about this working or not. I mean, what if it actually didn't work? What if this will stay forever? She can't live like that...
My thoughts were quickly pushed away as I felt Calamity's hand move slightly. I quickly turned my head to her and saw her eyes slowly started to open. I asked softly as I leaned in a little. When she gained enough consciousness, she looked at me and widen her eyes and gasped, quickly sitting up and hugging me all of a sudden. I didn't hesitate to hug her back. She whispered as I could hear her sobbings. I said softly as I rubbed her back to comfort her. Calamity said giggling as she broke the hug and wiped her tears away.
I couldn't hold my smile back as I heard it. It worked. It actually worked. No creepy visions anymore, thank god. I said as I hugged her again, and she hugged back and giggled. She asked as I broke the hug. I said, with the last part quietly. Calamity confirmed with a smile as she wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me, with me gladly kissing her back as I secured my arms around her waist. After she broke the kiss, we laid back in bed together as she snuggled up to me, and I put my arm around her. I asked referring to the wound on her head. She replied. I whispered the last part. She whispered back. Gosh I missed holding her in my arms like this. It feels like I haven't seen her for a while. This was going to be another goodnight rest, without any worries...

Characters grow their powers with explicit stat blocks presented right in the text, including levels, attribute scores, and unlockable skill trees. Experience is accumulated by battling enormous monsters the size of buildings. Political intrigue and romance elements ramp up as the series progresses. I originally wrote this story after playing Monster Hunter with my niece. She was 12 at the time, already an avid reader, and wanted to read my other published books. I'm a licensed psychotherapist specializing in severe trauma so I tend toward darker fiction. I told her my usual books are too brutal for her but I'd write her something special. The result was this series, which has been praised by both teens and adults for its depth and universal appeal. It begins with an emphasis on cultural elements because I consulted with a trained anthropologist to craft this neolithic setting down to exacting social detail. After these opening chapters, it rapidly shifts to an action-packed adventure. The first 3 books are fully written as of November 2020, totalling approximately 69 chapters. The first book has been professionally edited already. The following two books require some editing which I'll do on a chapter-by-chapter basis as releases progress. I welcome reviews and comments. Writing is a passion, and reader engagement makes my labor all the sweeter.

Advent of the Mindfire Mage: A Challenger's Return Story
Updates MWF, 6PM EST! Not so long ago, a story was posted on Webnovel, one that fired my imagination unlike almost anything before or since. It was known as The Challenger's Return: Rebirth of the Rainbow Mage. However, 150 chapters in, the author NightWind, who I'd personally interacted with and begun to consider a true friend, vanished from the internet without a trace. And so, I have acted upon my fervent desire to pick up his torch, to refuse to let his world that stirred such passion in me die. Read below about my own take on The Challenger's Return. Was Lheticus summoned to the Tower by chance, or by choice? Either way, with the new power he wins, he won't hesitate to burn anyone who seeks to keep him from his true love to cinders, and with a unique ability of the highest potential, he may just succeed, but he's just as likely to burn himself down. And as it turns out, the latter case may be woven into his very destiny...can that destiny be changed? And if it is, what will be the repercussions for the Tower? (You may want to read a fair amount of the original Challenger's Return before starting this, as, particularly in the early chapters, many things that are laid out in it are glossed over in this story.)
