'Oh really?' you replied

'yeah.'

'Look me in the eye and say it again.'

Slowly I try lifting my head,

I can't seem to look at you

I'm trying so hard

not to look away

There's a lump in my throat

And It's getting hard to breathe

But I look at you

'I'm-'

Why did my voice just crack?

Why is it so hard to say

two simple words?

One little lie

'I'm fine.'

I whisper the words

Yet,

you still mange to hear

the pain

'I'm fine.'

I repeat it

Trying to believe it

You move

to hug me

'Don't. Please.' I say

I hate hugs

I hate the way

they make me feel so damn safe

just for a few seconds

So instead,

I repeat it

'I'm fine.'

'I'm fine. I'm-'

'fine?' you ask me

'Yeah.' I reply flatly
