As soon as I got home, I conference called Virat, MS, Shikhar, Hardik, Mandeep and Karun.
These people are among my closest friends.
"Virat, MS, Shikhar, Mandeep, Hardik, Karun, it's a conference call." I started.
Before I could speak anything further the boys started talking among themselves.
"Guys!" I shouted.
"It's important." I added quickly.
"Sorry, sorry. What is it?" Virat asked.
"Okay so I'm getting married."
And the ruckus started yet again.
"Guys, puri baat toh sunlo." I said.
They stopped and waited for me to continue.
"Yeah, so as I said, I'm getting married, but not now. Maybe around December. But the engagement is two weeks later." I said.
"Wow, that's nice. Congratulations buddy." MS said.
The rest of them started congratulating me too.
"Who's the girl though?" Mandeep asked.
"Um...."
"Bol!" Karun said.
"Sharma gaya kya?" Shikhar joked.
"Bol bey." Mandeep said again.
"It's Shyra."
"Shyra Iyer?" Hardik asked.
"What?" Karun shouted, definitely shocked.
I then explained them from the drive to Shyra's house to coming back to my house after dinner at her place.
"Wow." Shikhar said.
"I'll have to call my crush, bhabi, now?" Karun joked.
"Yes." I laughed.
We spoke for another thirty minutes, before hanging up.
I changed my clothes and freshened up.
I checked the time. It was 11:47 p.m.
Shyra should be awake, I thought.
I searched for her number in my contact and called.
"Hi." She spoke. I could imagine her smiling.
"What's up?" I asked.
"Just changed into my pyjamas and sitting on the bed. You tell me. What're you doing?" She asked.
"I was about to sleep. Thought I'd call you." I shrugged.
"Awww. You miss me already!" She joked.

I chuckled.
"You free tomorrow?" I asked her.
"I got a meeting in the morning. Will be free after 11 am though."
"Cool. I'll pick you up at 1:30 from your house, okay?"
"Are you taking me out on a date?" She laughed.
"Yes, I am." I smiled.
"Okay, then. Oh, by the way, where are we going? I need to dress accordingly." She told me.
"Well, I'm taking you out for lunch." I informed her.
"Done done. Are you excited?" She asked.
"For?"
"Our first date." She laughed.
She's so cute!
"Very much." I said.
We spoke for another hour before calling it night.
*
I wore a red polka dot t-shirt with black jeans, red-white puma high tops, white yankee and shades.
I quickly wore my watch, and took my car keys, racing downstairs.
"Where are you going Rahul?" Mom asked.
"I'm taking Shyra out for lunch." I said, reaching the last stair.
My dad gave me a teasing look wiggling his eyebrows.
I rolled my eyes playfully at him.
"Okay, bye guys."
I stepped out of the house and drove to her's quickly.
"Hey. You here?" She asked, once she picked the call.
"Yeah."
"Coming. Coming." She hung up.
I saw her walk towards the car. She was dressed in a white summer dress; three-fourth sleeves and white wedges. Her waist length hair tied in a messy bun, leaving some loose strands here and there.
She looked beautiful.
I got off the driver's seat, and jogged towards her.
I gave her a quick hug, before opening the door.
"Gentleman, huh?" She chuckled.
"For you? Anyday." I flirted.
She shook her head, with a smile on her face, and sat in the passenger's seat.

I ran back to the driver's seat, and drove away to Asilo.
I parked the car, but before I could get out, Shyra spoke.
"Now please don't run to my seat's door to get it." She giggled.
I chuckled at her before getting out of the car.
I held her waist as we walked into Asilo.
I had already booked a table last night.
"This is beautiful." She said, looking at our table.
We could see Mumbai and it's beaches from out table.
We both sat opposite each other on the couch.
We ordered a plate of truffled potato wedges, three types of vegetarian platters, one plate of chicken alfredo pasta and two plates of espresso fudge cake for dessert. We also ordered an Island Cocktail for me, and a Pink Velvet Cocktail for her.
We spoke a lot before and after our food and drinks came.
I found myself getting attracted to her.

The Book of Hickory
Now why did Hickory go and punch that Angel? Sure it spooked him, popping up right there at lunch, and yet, it wasn't fear that balled his hand into a fist - Cause wouldn't you? Wouldn't anyone - with a sick Ma at home, Da long dead, buried, all them prayers piling up on bruised knees, unanswered? Hickory was angry, all right. He was fierce, now - cause that Angel didn't show up to give no help, that Angel came by asking for it - with all that power just plain to see, the power to fix the world and all that ails it! And now look what poor Hickory has to do - to save the world? Now how is he supposed to do that when its taking near everything he's got - just to keep them chickens safe, Ma fed, and himself out of trouble - All he wanted was maybe just a dance with May, maybe a bit more, to hold her close? That she's sweet, now, a voice like an angel, but now she's over there lookin at him like he's more than a man. And that's not to say Hickory is bad, not all the time, not ever on purpose - just there are things a man has to - That drinking and fighting ain't wrong just as long as the chores are done proper first, that those parts of life that make it worth living ain't no sin, that loving a lady is proper and Hickory just has so much love to give! And May is special, right, sweet and soft, now she's sophisticated. That she wears her passion like a pearl necklace? That certainly Hickory would notice, naturally - that she's already spoken for, perhaps taken? That ever since Hickory came back, that all she can think about is swallowing - those strange feelings, because it wouldn't do, would it? For a Lady? But certainly she can worship him and still be seen with Weston Covanger? Because Weston needs May, that what happens in the Study is only half the battle, the Men's Business, and he's far too proud to settle for half of anything. That if he wants to move up the ranks of his family, to be more than a Covanger, to become the Covanger? He's going to need a woman in the Kitchen as well - he's going to need May. And if that seems a bit old fashioned? A bit too much like the Wild West? Well the West is starting to get wild again now that everyone starts to Drink. A different take on LitRPG where answers aren't given - they must be earned, discovered and fought for, one at a time. An orator style, a long read, filled with magic buildings, crafting, alchemy, but most of all - This is a story about the human spirit. About understanding what defines a person, their morals, their beliefs, and also faith when everything they understand becomes challenged - changed. So do they. People can change. They will. Just not always for the better, not always - sometimes. Sometimes that's enough. Sometimes that's even everything.
