Leigh-Anne rushed down the corridors of the hospital. She tried to avoid bumping into anybody, but the amount of people who saturated the place made it impossible - she just hoped that she didn't make anybody's injuries worse. Every now and then she would say 'sorry', 'sorry', 'sorry!'
Her phone buzzed, and she saw that her girls had been trying to phone her - 5 missed calls from Perrie, 7 missed calls from Jade, 19 missed calls from Jesy. Perrie's name appeared on the screen, and Leigh-Anne picked up.
'Is everything okay?' Leigh-Anne wheezed down the phone.
'Oh my God, you're alive! We have been so worried!' Perrie yelled on the other side. The relief in her voice was overwhelming.
'I got a phone call from Gary - he overdosed! I'm currently at the hospital now and I have no idea how he is.'
'Oh Leigh-Anne, I am so, so sorry! Go, make sure he's okay - we are okay. We were just worried about you, is all. We are going back to the magic shop to find Blaine so we are fine. Please keep in touch so you can let us know how Gary is.'
'I will, I promise.' Leigh-Anne said as her voice cracked. She put down the phone and headed for the reception desk.
People were scattered everywhere. It appeared as though every single doctor and nurse were preoccupied with the barrage of patients before them. Leigh-Anne felt awful, but she pushed her way past many of them to get to the desk.
'Please, please help me!' Leigh-Anne said to the receptionist.
'Are you hurt? Is it an emergency?' The man behind the desk asked.
'No! My friend had an overdose and he's been rushed here, I didn't make it to the house in time. Do you know where he is? His name is Gary, Gary Edward Wood.'
The receptionist rapidly typed on his keyboard, then looked up at Leigh-Anne. 'He's is currently having his stomach pumped. I can't tell you where that it is but if you wait, once he's moved to a ward, I can give you more information.'
'So he's alive?'
'He was alive when they brought him in, just unconscious.'
Leigh-Anne cried out in happiness. 'Oh thank God!' She put her head in her hands. 'Thank you, I'll wait over there. Please let me know his condition as soon as you can.'
She wouldn't leave the desk until he promised. When he did, she walked from the desk to the dozens of people sitting in the waiting area. She slumped in an empty seat and ran her hands through her hair. What have I done? she asked herself.

Perrie, Jade and Jesy returned to the magic shop. In Perrie's hands, she held a jacket that belonged to Blaine - a jacket he left in her bedroom.
'What is this woman's name, does anyone know?' Jesy asked when she was about to shout for the woman, but realised she didn't know what to shout.
'No clue,' Jade confessed. 'We should really ask, Perrie, you do it.'
'What? Why me! That will just make me seem rude for not knowing it already!' Perrie shouted.
'Well to be fair she visited you at school, remember? I'd say you two were a lot closer than we are with her.' Jesy said, trying to make a valid point.
Perrie shook her head and walked deeper into the store. It was so quiet. 'It's always so creepy in here. Hello?'
The woman appeared from the curtain in the back. 'Ah, girls, back so soon?'
'We brought Blaine's jacket. Can you still help us find him?' Perrie asked.
'Of course, of course! Lay it on the glass counter over here, that's a good girl.'
The girls walked to a long, glass counter with various mythical objects inside, including a crystal ball and an athame. Several pages lay inside of it too. Jade tried to read what the pages said, but some of the writing was so small, and some of it was in another language.
The woman ducked out to the back again and came back with a small book in her hands. Jade looked at it warily.
'So, we need to find your love,' the woman said. 'Let's surround the jacket and feel his presence with us.'
'Sorry if this sounds a little rude, but can I ask what your name is?' Perrie asked after receiving intense glares from both Jesy and Jade.
'My name is Alicia,' she replied, not phased that she asked.
'Ah, why does that name sound familiar?' Perrie whispered in response as she started to think about where she had heard that name.
'Let's not waste time asking questions,' Alicia said. 'We need to find my son.'
The girls' heads all shot in her direction.
'What did you say?' Perrie asked as she backed away from her. The sound of the bell ringing when the shop door opened drew their attention.
'Looks like we don't need a spell at all,' Alicia noted when Blaine walked through the door and closed it behind him.
Leigh-Anne looked at the faces that passed her in the waiting room. It hadn't been that long since she asked for an update on Gary's wellbeing, but she was tempted to stand up and ask again.
She was prevented by a familiar voice in the hallway. 'Leigh-Anne Pinnock?'
Thinking it would be news on Gary, she darted from her seat and headed to the voice. The person who called her name became clear. 'Miss O'Brien, you're Eliza's mother.'
'Yes, we met when you stayed at Eliza's a few months back. How are you?'
Leigh-Anne stood to the side of the hallway with the tall woman. She looked just like her daughter; she retained a youthful face while her hair had turned grey. Her movements were tight as the woman, like Eliza, was rather shy and reserved.
'I'm okay, my friend had an overdose and I'm waiting to hear about him. He made it to the hospital so he should be fine.'
Miss O'Brien looked at her sorrowfully. 'I'm very sorry to hear that; I hope your friend makes a full recovery.'

'Thank you. How is Eliza?'
'She's doing great, she's awake and fully responsive. She should be ready to come home tonight, if the doctor signs her off. Would you like to see her?'
Leigh-Anne looked at the receptionist. He appeared incredibly busy, and no doubt it would take longer to hear about Gary's wellbeing. 'Of course,' Leigh-Anne finally answered.
Miss O'Brien led Leigh-Anne to a nearby ward. There were four beds, all occupied, and Eliza was in the furthest one by the window. 'I'll let you two talk. If you girls need me, I'll be by the coffee machine.'
'Thank you,' Leigh-Anne told her, then walked to Eliza's bed. Eliza was lying on her side, looking out of the window. 'Eliza?' she said softly as she approached.
Eliza turned her head, her frown turning into a smile. 'Leigh-Anne! This is a nice surprise.'
'I'm sorry I didn't get to visit sooner, things have been really hectic lately.'
'It's fine, I've heard all about the anti-bullying campaigns you've been running, I'm so impressed.'
'I don't ever want what happened to you to happen to anyone ever again,' Leigh-Anne said. 'It never should have happened in the first place. Have you told the police who did this to you yet?'
'No,' Eliza said, holding her head down and diverting her eyes. 'I am so ashamed.'
'What have you got to be ashamed about? You're the victim, not the bully.'
'Exactly, and that's all people will think when they see me - I'm a victim. I let this happen, I let myself get attacked. Of course I'm ashamed.'
'Look,' Leigh-Anne said as she grabbed Eliza's hands. She allowed the heat from her own hands to warm Eliza's. She was so cold. 'What happened to you was not your fault. You did not provoke that senseless attack. Perhaps I used the wrong word when I said victim. What I meant to say was survivor. You survived it and you're here now, and you're stronger than ever because you are the better person. I truly admire your strength and you have inspired me to prevent attacks like that from happening again. The only way you can move on is to bring justice to those who hurt you so they never hurt anyone else. True strength lies in the ability to move on and make a change.'
Eliza began to cry by the end of Leigh-Anne's speech. She paid attention to every single syllable, not realising how tightly she held her hands. 'I'm scared,' she finally admitted to Leigh-Anne.
'I know, but I'll be right here. Do you want me to get the police?'
'Yes, but wait. There's one person who was there, but I'm not entirely sure who she was.'
'She?' Leigh-Anne asked, startled.
'Yes, there was Blaine, and Phil, but there was also an older woman there. I think I have seen her before, but I'm not entirely sure I remember. But I am positive that at one point Blaine called her mother.'
Leigh-Anne quickly opened her phone. She searched for Blaine on Facebook, then looked at his family relations. She found his mother, Alicia, and opened her profile. Leigh-Anne's mouth dropped when she saw a photo of her - the woman from the magic shop.
'Oh my God,' Leigh-Anne said under her breath, then looked directly at Eliza. 'I'm going to be here for you every step of the way, but my friends are in danger, and we need to save them. You need to tell the police everything.'
'What are you doing?' Jesy yelled at Alicia. 'You're his mother?'
'I am one very proud mom,' Alicia said in response, a big smile on her face.
'But he beat up an innocent girl, he's a monster!' Jade pointed out. The three girls managed to huddle together as Blaine embraced his mother.
'He did that because she found out about us,' Alicia confessed. 'She found out that I had been using spells to make him the most popular boy in school, and to make me rich. I kept my magic shop, of course, it's home. I could never give it up.'
'It was dangerous to put me under a spell, Perrie,' Blaine said in a low voice. He directed his dark gaze at her.
'I regret ever falling for you in the first place,' Perrie spat.
'Oh but you were obsessed, remember? You can never regret that because I made you better. I made you stronger.'
'My girls have made me stronger, not you.'
Blaine walked towards the girls. They backed up into a bookshelf; they couldn't go back any further. They were trapped. He approached Perrie, but Jesy and Jade stood in his way.
'Perrie, I admit that a part of me loved you,' Blaine said, though they weren't sure if he was sincere. 'But this is my life. This is how I've been raised. But the only way we can let you leave is if you promise not to say anything about Eliza.'
Jesy laughed. 'As if!'
'If not, then there's a spell that should work. To permanently damage someone. To inflict wounds that will never heal. How about we start with your face, Perrie?'
Perrie tried to keep her tears in, but all of them were scared. Perrie managed to say, 'I will do everything in my power to see you behind bars.'
Alicia walked towards them. 'That's not going to happen.'
The bell at the door of the magic shop rang, and Leigh-Anne stepped inside. 'You wanna bet?'
A horde of police officers came up behind Leigh-Anne and she stepped aside to let them pass. Alicia and Blaine gasped and tried to run to the back, but Jesy and Jade tripped them both up. The officers grabbed them from the floor and put them in handcuffs.
Perrie let out a grateful sigh. Leigh-Anne ran over to them, and they all wrapped each other up in an unbreakable hug. They shed tears as they were all thankful to have each other.
The police officers took Blaine and Alicia away, leaving the four girls in the shop.
'I can't believe that just happened,' Jesy said, watching the door close. 'That was so close. Thank you so much Leigh-Anne, how did you know?'
'Eliza talked to the police. She told them it was Blaine and Phil who beat her, and that Alicia was there. I rushed over with the police as soon as I found out she is the owner of the magic shop. It's a good job Perrie called or I would not have known where you guys were.'
Jade gave her a hug. 'Thank you. I am so glad that is over with.'
'How is Gary?' Perrie asked. Her voice was hopeful.
Leigh-Anne looked away. 'They tried to pump his stomach, but they were too late. He died on the table.'
Tears broke from Leigh-Anne's eyes as she fell to the floor. The other girls fell to their knees to hold her. They didn't know what to say.
'They won,' Leigh-Anne cried. 'The bullies won. They took his life just because he was different to them. He was loved by so many people and he didn't even see that.'
'He saw how much you loved him. We will get justice for him,' Jade told her as her own voice was breaking.
'I need to keep fighting for him, but we can't do that while we have everyone under a spell. We need to break it. We need to break it now. We need to do this right. The change we want - the change we expect - would mean so much more if we led by example.'
'We don't need to change our appearance or our personalities,' Jesy confirmed. 'We just need to be honest and real. We need to be ourselves.'
They all nodded. It took them a few minutes to stand when Leigh-Anne finally calmed down slightly. Perrie picked up the spell book and flicked through it.
'It says the only way to reverse any spell, is for the words to come from the heart. We don't need any potion ingredients or magical tricks. It has to be personal, meaningful. We just need each other.'
► The other girls nodded. Jade and Jesy looked at each other. They knew they would lose the love they managed to build, but their girls were far more important. Leigh-Anne hoped that the people at school would still feel inspired to follow their own path and stand up for themselves, and Perrie wished for the same.
'We keep behind closed doors, every time I see you, I die a little more, stolen moments that we steal as the curtain falls, it'll never be enough...'
Once the tears stopped, the girls saw that a gentle breeze was blowing through the entire shop. It brushed past their skin and fluttered their hair. Everything went quiet, solemn, and they never wanted to let go of each other's hands.
They couldn't feel the spell breaking when their hearts were breaking at the same time.
