the boys argued for a few minutes over what they wanted for breakfast, all of them going back and forth whether they wanted cinnamon buns or pancakes, but felix knowing them all too well had the perfect solution.
"why don't the people who want cinnamon buns make the cinnamon buns and the boys who want pancakes make pancakes? we're all going to eat both of them once they're made so let's just split up into groups of four to make the food!" felix suggested with a sweet smile and all the boys agreed to his plan.
"great idea sunshine, who wants cinnamon buns?" chan had asked. felix and changbin raised their hands at the same time, causing them both to look at each other and then awkwardly turn away.
"anyone else?" chan asked, hoping someone would say they wanted cinnamon buns.
"i do!" jisung cheered.
"no, you're with me and i want pancakes." minho grabbed onto jisung's arm, causing him to stop in his tracks.
"but i want cinnamon buns..." jisung pouted at minho.
"you can eat them, but i want you to cook with me." minho said, cupping jisung's face in his hands gently.
"okayyyy," jisung sang as he then placed a quick peck to minho's lips before realizing he was still surrounded by the other boys, "minho!"
"what did i do?" the boy asked after getting slapped by jisung.
"you made me kiss you!" jisung scrunched his nose up as his eyebrows furrowed from annoyance.
"all i made you do was cook with me, i didn't tell you to kiss me." minho said with a slight smirk forming on his face.
"but you gave me a look." jisung claimed.
"okay jisung, sure i did." minho said sarcastically as he entangled his fingers with jisung's.

"okay... so cinnamon buns?" chan asked once again.
"i want cinnamon buns." hyunjin stated as he moved away from jeongin and towards changbin.
"and who wants pancakes?" chan then asked and the only three to respond to that were jisung, minho, and jeongin.
jeongin actually wanted cinnamon buns, but after having hyunjin move away from him like that, he didn't want to seem like he was following the latter.
"seungmin, what do you want?" felix asked the boy.
"either one, i don't care." seungmin shrugged.
"okay, so seungmin you can do pancakes and i will join the cinnamon bun group." chan stated and the boys got to work.
"didn't hyunjin say he wanted pancakes?" jeongin asked his group.
"yeah, he did come to think of it." jisung said thinking back to their earlier conversation where the boys all fought over what to eat.
"and i said cinnamon buns." jeongin huffed.
"then why didn't you say something?" minho asked, catching onto jeongin's feelings for hyunjin, but deciding to play dumb.
"i-i... never mind." jeongin sighed as he began mixing the batter rather aggressively.
the boys who were working together to make cinnamon buns found that it became awkward way faster than expected.
changbin and felix both reached for the dough, causing their hands to touch and both of them to freeze.
"need i remind you that you broke up three months ago?" hyunjin cut in, earning a death glare from felix.
"no, you do not need to remind me." felix snapped back, catching chan's attention.
"hey sunshine, why don't you help me make the icing?" chan asked as he grabbed onto felix's tiny hand and gently pulled the boy towards him.
"okay..." felix sighed as he focused on helping chan rather than what hyunjin had just said to him.

"do you think i hurt him?" hyunjin asked worriedly.
"why does chan call him sunshine?" changbin questioned, completely ignoring hyunjin.
"asshat..." hyunjin muttered, "i did that for you and now you don't even pay attention to me. he's still all you think about."
"i-- no he is not!" changbin stated defensively.
"yes he is." hyunjin retorted as he rolled his eyes and began to work on the cinnamon buns once again.
"i like someone else now hyunjin, i have for awhile, but if chan and felix are going to date i want to know. i don't want to be the last to find out or have them hide it from me." changbin explained to hyunjin, but the boy was still a bit skeptical.
"okay changbin, i get it, but i really don't think anything is going to happen there. trust me." hyunjin said as he grabbed onto changbin's shoulder, shaking him slightly to really drill it into his head.
"alright..." changbin trailed off, his gaze falling to the ground.
"binnie, even if they did begin dating, i know chan would talk to you about it first. chan would never do anything behind any of our backs. he cares way too much about us to hurt any one in the group." hyunjin reassured the boy, the nickname hurting changbin a bit since felix was typically the one to use it.
"yeah... yeah, you're right. thanks jinnie." changbin smiled at the boy as he stared into his eyes.
"of course bin." hyunjin smiled back, finally noticing the outside eyes prying in.
"why is jeongin looking at us like that?" hyunjin whispered to changbin.
"um... i don't know." as soon as changbin and hyunjin looked over, jeongin turned away.
"jeongin wanted cinnamon buns... why did he change it say he wanted pancakes?" hyunjin questioned with a frown.
"why does it matter?" changbin asked.
"w-well... it doesn't i guess.. just weird is all." hyunjin shrugged as he got back to making the cinnamon buns.
"alright hyunjin." changbin too shrugged it off, not thinking much of hyunjins concern towards jeongin.

Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
