《ex | changlix》epilogue

felix had finally finished his four years of college. it seemed like it happened at a snails pace, but finally, it was done.
a couple days after his graduation, he returned home and only had one person on his mind.
felix didn't know how to reach out at this point. it was rare for him to talk to his friends, and that included changbin. everyone was just so busy living their own lives.
hyunjin and jeongin broke up, but decided to remain friends. minho and jisung had gone through a lot, but somehow are still together... and seungmin has been completely MIA along with chan.
felix wondered how everyone was doing, but it no longer felt right to ask anymore.
he felt alone at the end of the day when his mind was the only thing around to keep him company. his thoughts ran wild and sucked him back into a dark place he hated.
however, he finally knew how to stop it. felix had finally reached a point in his life where he could be alone. where he allowed the dark thoughts in, he embraced them with open arms, and then discarded them shortly after.
felix no longer needed anyone else to reassure him, he was able to reassure himself. he finally had some confidence and happiness within him that he no longer had to depend on others for his survival.
however, felix still craved that connection he once had with changbin.
"mom, i'm gonna head out for a bit." felix said as he got ready to leave.
"where are you going? meeting up with some friends maybe?" she asked out of curiosity.
"uh- no i'm just going to head to the coffee shop down the road." felix stated before heading out the door.
he walked down the buzzing streets, cars flying by him. felix just wanted to be able to remember the past. for the first time in a long time, he wanted to allow himself to feel sad.
"hello, what can i get for you today?" the barista asked kindly.
"hi, could i please have a small cold brew?" felix asked, his order had changed now. it felt wrong to order something different, but he needed the caffeine.

"sure, could i please have a name for the order?"
"felix."
"great, go head and insert your card whenever you're ready."
"okay..."
"your drink will be ready soon!"
"thank you." felix smiled at the young girl before taking a seat in the back of the coffee shop.
he looked around the place, inhaling the sweet smell of roasted coffee beans, and let the nostalgia wash over him.
even after all this time, i still miss him.
felix couldn't help but think of changbin. it had been years since they went there together, but still it was there spot.
it had been years since they broke up, but he still changbin had his heart.
it had years since they last kissed, but still felix felt the ghost of the latters lips still pressed against his own.
the chime of the door opening to coffee shop was enough to make felixs head turn. he opened his eyes and saw the apparition of his past walking right towards him.
except, this was no apparition, he was the real deal.
"changbin," felix muttered, but was unable to stand. his legs felt numb as he felt he was growing more and more distant from reality.
it couldn't be real. changbin was not standing before him. it was not real.
"hi felix," changbin sat down in front of the boy, not even bothering to order.
felix reached his hand out to brush his thumb across the latters cheek, "you're real?"
"of course i'm real." changbin laughed as he grabbed onto felix's hand
"it's been awhile..."
"it has been," changbin sighed as he stared into felixs eyes that seemed to still shine like the stars the same way they used to, "but you haven't changed at all."
"i have changed, way more than you think." felix began to explain, "i'm happy now. way happier than i have ever been... but one part of me hasn't changed i guess, and i'm not sure it ever will."
"is it something you want to change?" changbin asked.
"why're you here, changbin?" felix decided to change the topic, he wasn't ready to admit what was on his mind.

"i wanted to see you." as changbin said this, felixs eyes widened in shock. he was in disbelief.
"how'd you know i was here?"
"i stopped by your house, your mom told me i could find you here."
"you were looking for me?" felix didn't want to get his hopes up, but he was starting to think it was too late for that.
"of course i was, the four years are up felix." changbin smiled as he turned felixs hand in his own to intertwine their fingers, "what part of you hadn't changed?"
felix felt his breathing stagger as he tried to think of what to say. he didn't want to be the first to admit his feelings and risk being rejected.
"have you changed?" felix asked instead.
"in some aspects yes, but in a lot of them... no."
"in what way haven't you changed?"
"i asked you first."
"we could go back and forth with this all day long, you know i won't say it first." felix said as he stared down at the table.
"cold brew for felix!" their conversation was interrupted by the barista.
felix quickly left the table and grabbed his drink. when he came back, changbin was on his phone, not even looking up to see felix had returned.
"texting someone important?" felix asked shyly, worried he of what the answer would be.
"yeah," the smile on changbins face said it all, he had someone else.
"oh-"
"he wants to see you actually." changbin stated, his smile not faltering.
"what? i don't think that's necess-"
"chan would really like to see you. he's changed a lot now." changbins words seemed unreal.
"chan?"
"mhmm, you won't believe the person he has become. him and i got close just this past year. i've missed having him as one of my best friends, i just didn't know how much until now." changbin explained.
"o-oh.."
"he's dating seungmin now. they're finally happy, can you believe it?"
"i can't actually..."
"i want to be happy like that too." changbin was still smiling, why is he smiling?
"y-yeah, me too." felix agreed nervously.
"hey bokkie," changbin said in a cute way that made felix look up at him in shock, "it's been awhile since you've heard that nickname, right?"
"yeah..." felix laughed a bit, but was still undeniably nervous for where the conversation was headed.
"it's been four years."
"it has..."
"and i told you, four years wouldn't change my feelings for you."
"you did say that..."
"that's one thing i promise hasn't changed about me, felix." changbin cupped felixs chin with his hand and smiled as he stared into the boy's chocolate brown eyes.
"so you still..?"
"yes felix, i still love you. i am in love with you and i always will be."
felixs jaw fell open as he tried to form a sentence to respond with, but his mind went blank.
"so what about you hasn't changed?"
"i'm still in love with you too..." felix let the words fall out of his mouth, no thought given. changbin just smiled, watching felixs face flush.
"that's a relief. is that why you came here?"
"mhmm..." felix nodded his head, "i came because i missed you."
"you don't have to miss me anymore... i don't want to be your ex boyfriend. i don't want to be apart of your past. i want to be your boyfriend, lee felix."
"y-you... you want to?"
"would you rather me say i am without even asking? okay, fine. i am no longer your ex, refer to me only as your boyfriend from now on, and promise you won't leave." changbin said as he held out his pinky.
"you have to promise the same, no leaving me." felix felt the deep shade of red spread across his cheeks as he locked his picky with changbin's.
"no leaving you." changbin repeated, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders once he realized what this meant.
it was no longer about being one another's ex, but only about being one another's future.
