《Calamity Falls》Chapter 7

I'm currently in the company making coffee when I heard glass shatter behind me. I turned around and came face-to-face with an unfamiliar face. "Are you ok?" I asked looking down at the broken glass.
"No, I'm good" she replied. I nodded then turned back to leave when she called out. "I'm Lizzy. What's your name?" she asked. I faced her then replied "Jace". she stuck her hand out for me to shake, which I did
"Oh hey Jace. How was your first day at work?" she asked wheeling her chair over to me. "Nice. Shelby showed me around" I said walking over to the couch as she followed me. "Shelby? Why?" she asked
I got up to the front door then opened it to find Samuel. "Oh hey Samuel. Come in" I stepped away making way for him into the house. He pointed at Riele, clearly surprised at her current condition. "Had an accident. I hit a truck" she replied. "You're never walking again?" he asked. "Nahh, just for a few months" she waved it off.
"Well from the books we've read, there is no solution maybe because such a condition is rare. But we found an old ancient book that told us a sacrifice must be made" he said. "Sacrifice?" Riele and I gasped.
'Sacrifice'. That same word kept repeating itself in my head for the past two days. It's been two days since Samuel came over; telling us that for Jace to regain his memory a sacrifice had to be made
But he couldn't tell what the sacrifice would be or is about. According to him, the page that would explain more about the sacrifice got torn, clearly the person who did it didn't want others to know what the sacrifice was about. Though, he promised to keep searching as he and his grandpa were doing already.

"I'm off to class" Mary yelled before she opened the front door and slammed it shut. She was off to her Saturday classes which meant I was home alone well including Lee and Daniel. Jace was at work leaving me with the two devils.
"Hey mom" Lee said running down the stairs to me as I sat on my wheelchair in the living room.
"What do you want Lee?" I asked not looking up from the headband I was knitting.
"I'm bored and Danny doesn't want to play" he pouted, taking a sit on the couch.
"I'm afraid there's nothing I can do about that. Sorry baby" I sighed keeping the knitting pins away to look at him.
His brown eyes, reminding me so much of Jace's eyes, held sadness. Just then the doorbell rang spiking our curiosity on who was at the door. "I'll be right there" Lee said to the person behind the door.
He got off the couch; his tiny legs took him to the front as he pulled it open. I couldn't see who was at the door but Lee's shout of joy enlightened me on whom it was. "AUNT JADE!" he screamed as I saw him jump at her making me shake my head in amusement
"Hey there Lily, is your mom home?" she asked and I saw her come in but she hadn't seen me yet.
"I am not Lily, it's Lee" he pouted getting down for her. Amusement pooled Jade's facial expression
"Well tell that to your mom. I wished for you being a girl but of course you were a boy and since she named you Lee, which is a boy's name, I named you Lily since I wanted a girl" she ruffled his hair, closing the door behind her

"Anyways where's your mom? RIELE?" she screamed for me not yet spotting me in the living room.
'Owl! She only sees at night' I rolled my eyes.
"She's over there" Lee pointed at me, skipping over to the couch I was next to
I looked at Jade and she held a petrified look. "WHAT THE FUDGE HAPPENED?" she screamed as she sped over to me. I heard someone coming down from the stairs and Daniel came in
"Did someone say fudge? I want some" he panted as his blue eyes inspected every corner of the room before the corner of his lips tugged down, a big frown plastered on his face
"No but I have something for you two, Uncle Sean will be here with them" Jade said but her eyes didn't leave me. I sighed getting ready for her bomb of questions already knowing that questions sped around her mind ninety miles per hour.
"Let the others get here first, at least Sean" I patted the seat next to me, motioning for her to sit. She hesitated, about to say something against what I said but decided not to speak. She moved her legs over to my side, her blue short sleeved blouse hung off her right shoulder which was accompanied with some black ripped jeans and to top it, a pair of white sneakers.
Her hair was hanging over her shoulder; it wasn't as long as when I last met her, notifying me that she cut it. She painted her lips with transparent lip gloss making her lips glimmer as the light in the room shone on them, effortlessly show casing her full pink lips.
The doorbell rang again already knowing who it was, Daniel went to open the door screaming the same way Lee did when Jade came over minutes ago. "Cornelius!" his arms flew out as he hugged Jade's five year old son
Sean and Corn came in and immediately Sean spotted me, unlike the girl beside me. He rubbed his eyes twice to make sure he wasn't dreaming making me roll my eyes, 'Classic Sean'.
"Riele? What happened?" he gasped walking over to me
He had on a white and black checkered shirt with dark blue jeans. His hair was tossed to the side giving him a cool look. "Long story" I sighed for the tenth time this afternoon.
"We've got enough time, we're all ears" Jean and Sean said in sync making me smile slightly at their compassionate expressions towards me
"I will let the others come first" I said going back to knitting. "Well Uncle Sean, Aunt Jade said you had something for us. Can we see it?" Lee said looking at Sean where he(Sean) was sat.
"That's right. It's here" Sean said pulling out a polythene bag, curiosity got the best of me.
"What's that?" I asked watching as he brought out the content. Two toy cars came in sight making me sigh 'Another thing added to their toy collection'.
"YESS!!! Thanks Uncle Sean and Aunt Jade" Lee and Daniel said in sync grabbing the toys off Sean's hands
I watched as they raced up the stairs to their room with Corn on their heels screaming for them to hold up making me laugh slightly.
A/N: Sorry it took me this long and also for making this chapter so short

[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] wooooo!! Let's do this! Just to clear up some misconceptions, this is not a parody and it is not a satire. Zu Mari does include over the top humor and exaggerations intended to amuse, but satire is a very specific thing which this is not. I certainly haven't read enough xianxia to properly satirize or parody them. It's just a silly project I'm writing for fun, with a meta story that makes me laugh. Expecting anything else will only end in disappointment.

Find out in The Curio Shoppe! Author's note: Please suggest possible setting he could visit in the comments. I'll gather ones i'm familiar with, and at the end of every arc, a poll will be held to decide the next location he visits. There will be polls for other purposes, and I might not always go with the poll winner if I feel one of the other options is more fun to read/write about. I will not use the settings of other RRL writers without their permission.Do not ask for that, unless the author in question gives permission. Most settings he visits will be slightly AU in some way or another, but please remind me if I drift too far from canon unintentionally or characterize a character wrongly. This work will eventually fit all tags I selected once he visits universes suited to those tags, so don't ask when or where a given tag is coming. I do not own the cover art, it belongs to Nicholas Belanger Thiel, and I will stop using it if he asks me to. Kellan doesn't look like the old man on the cover, though once he acquires a disguise-type ability he may occasionally use that appearance. The tapir, however, will be a thing, as despite looking like a failed attempt at an elephant, tapirs are cool and this dragon finds them to be kinda cute. The art, along with more of Nicholas's pieces, can be found at https://www.artstation.com/artwork/51bXz
