same as last time actually
i guess i'm in
you're sure they're okay with it... ??
yeah! poki and syk suggested actually!
i guess, when?
right now!
Madison tried to set up quickly, but ended up being a few minutes late. She could tell that she was a fill, considering everyone was talking about the previous game.
"Hi, Maddie!!" Poki greeted.
"Hey Poki!" Madison tried to sound as happy as possible, even though she was incredibly nervous.
Corpse had stopped talking the second she entered the lobby, making her even more anxious about their previous issues. He had never responded to her, even though he read the message. She knew now that he was angry with her.
"Good luck everyone!" Rae called out as the screen changed, revealing Madison was a crewmate. She did her tasks casually, not paying too much attention to any of the players surrounding her since she wasn't streaming. When she died by Toast, she played on Twitter for awhile.
She decided to announce Rae's stream on her own twitter, trying to help her friend with viewers. When she announced Rae's stream, tweeting the link, the comments flooded with the link to Corpse's stream, referring people there instead. Madison didn't know Corpse was streaming today.
She clicked on the link, while everyone was still talking in the emergency meeting. She saw Corpse was the other imposter, and listened as he talked to his chat instead of paying attention to the useless conversation about where the body was found.
Corpse's chat flooded with messages about Madison's disappearance, and mentions of their last stream
"Madison? I don't know much about her, I don't know," Corpse said.
The meeting ended, and no one was voted out. Corpse kept talking to his chat while running around the map, searching for people to kill.
"Ever since I said something about her, you guys are spamming the chat," he laughed dryly. "I will say, if she needed some time to herself for whatever reason, it's really no one's business why and no one should pressure her to say anything about it."
Her heart felt warm about him defending her, but she still was unsure that he truly meant what he was saying. He hadn't even responded to her.

The game ended, Corpse and Toast winning the round. She clicked out of his stream, and congratulated them on winning before they started another game. She ended up dying again early in the game, instinctively wanting to go back and watch Corpse's stream, but told herself she couldn't be obsessive.
It's not like Madison had a crush, or that they were friends, or anything like that. But, Madison didn't like knowing someone didn't like her, so it was instinctual for her to want to make amends with him.
She tried to resist her compulsion to watch the stream, but ended up opening the link again anyway. He had moved on to talking about his music, and his plans for the next few months. She caught on quickly to his health problems when he began to explain his problems with eyesight affecting his ability to create horror narration content.
She was so tuned in to the stream she didn't realize the game had ended until it appeared on her phone screen, where there was a slight delay. She put her headphones back on, hearing everyone ask if she was still there.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm here!" She tried to speak quickly. "Sorry, I was... Um, I was just..."
"It's okay, Maddie, really," Rae tried to reaffirm, but Madison was still mentally panicking. How long had they been talking to her? Asking her if she was there?
She was grateful she wasn't streaming; she could only imagine how bad the comments would've been.
"Are you down to play another one?" Leslie asked her.
"Yeah! Yeah, I just got distracted..." She started to cry. She muted herself, letting out a deep breath, trying to calm down.
Being an internet personality was easy some days, and so hard on others. She had gotten used to being relatively stress free, and since she's come back she's received nothing but hate from everyone. It was an overwhelming feeling, and she was unsure why it was bothering her so much now. She knew her friends were okay, she just needed to pay more attention to the game. She could only imagine how much she was messing up everyone's streams.
"Do you need to go? It's really no big deal, we can find a fill," Sykkuno suggested. Madison kept breathing deeply, unmuting herself to say a quick "I'm fine" then going back to her inner monologue about how weak she was.

"Let's just start, guys," Poki began the countdown. Madison was grateful she was trying to be as accommodating as possible, being that she knew what was wrong.
Corpse's livestream was still playing on her phone as she started the game. There was a slight delay, so when she started doing tasks, she heard Corpse announce to his chat that he was an imposter yet again. She tried not to let that fact affect her own game play, and she would never announce that in an emergency meeting, but she kept it in her mind as she walked around the map.
"I don't know what's wrong with Madison today, I know she's not streaming....I don't think she's crying, I think she's just stressed, which is okay... you guys should all go send her a nice tweet. That would make her feel good."
She smiled at his words, trying her best to keep her tears at bay. She knew his supporters would listen to him, and she was incredibly grateful that he would say something like that to 100,000 people.
So why hadn't he responded to her direct message? He was confusing to understand, even when she hadn't talked to him directly once.
The game had gone on, leaving Corpse, Madison, and Toast the last three alive. Toast reported Poki's body, immediately screaming that Corpse had killed right in front of him. She focused on the details of the story, even though she knew from the stream that Corpse was the imposter. It was a hard decision; Toast had been sussed the whole game by every player in the lobby.
"Listen, Madison. I know you haven't played this game a lot... but, Toast is a good player. He knew that you might believe him, which is why he was so loud and obnoxious. But, Toast killed Poki. And, Poki is your friend! You need to avenge your friend. So let's vote Toast, and call it quits... alright?"
He talked so quietly to her, like he was trying to protect her with his own words. She blinked a few times slowly, trying to process that Corpse Husband had just talked to her, directly, and completely calmly.
"Sorry, Toast," she whispered quietly before voting him off, and letting Corpse win the game.

Too many of her followers had caught on to her change in emotions. She was known online for being happy, and somewhat of a badass. She was sarcastic and told jokes often, but after Rae's stream, her twitter was blowing up with people asking why she was so upset. Too many of them blamed it on her disappearance, and if too many people started digging, she would be screwed.
She didn't care about her emotions; she cared more about her reputation. She didn't want people to worry, it wasn't their responsibility. She was supposed to be a source of happiness for people at home with struggles, yet somehow she was causing strangers more stress and worry. She hated that.
She woke up feeling determined to have a good day. She put on a bit of makeup, left her hair messy and straightened from the day before, and put on a white pajama set. She positioned her phone on a tripod in front of her bed, hoping to get decent Instagram pictures. She knew that if she could make herself look fine, everyone would know that she was okay and stop asking so many questions.
After a few tries, she felt confident with two pictures she had taken, and decided to leave it at that. She edited them slightly using an app on her phone and impulsively posted. She knew she looked slutty, and she knew her fanbase would love it. That's what she was there for. She wasn't supposed to be sensitive, she was supposed to be inspiration to be a bad bitch and she was going to try to recover in the only way she knew how.

Shift (Ben 10+DCU Fanfiction)
Omnitrix+ DCU, what's not to like? The main character will not be Ben Tennyson, rather someone from our world who gains the Omnitrix Hello! This fanfiction Shift is what I wanted to do for an homage to what I thought were underrated pieces of media, Ben 10 and some DCU characters. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t add context to two of the major works that inspired Shift, Dial, and A Practical Guide to Evil. Dial is another ben 10 fanfiction, however that story takes place in the MCU, and with an adult that is already a grown-up at the beginning of the story. Dial, by my own accounts, is more superficially Like shift, even though the Omnitrix is a central device in both. My protagonist starts out around 18 years old, so is less serious and can build relationships with some of the junior justice league members, and then later on in the story meet the Justice League officially. The tone will be more light-hearted at the beginning of the story as teenagers are known to use sarcasm and jokes at each other’s expense. Furthermore, in Dial, the protagonist has a well-developed knowledge of the MCU which he uses to have knowledge on events and characters, that the character in Shift will not have. While the MC will have some knowledge of people's abilities, lesser-known characters and people's real identities will be not included as much, but the MC of Shift will have some knowledge. APGTE's influence is deeper than Dials'. The epigraphs at the beginning of every chapter are an example of that, a place for light-hearted jokes and worldbuilding that's not pure exposition, but I also want to incorporate narrative stories to Shift (heroes win more than lose, providence, etc) on a lighthearted scale. While the heroes of Shift will have to work to win against villains, the MC of Shift will be allowed limited precognition, through narratives tropes and archetypes as a trade-off of less knowledge of the DCU. For example, a villain a hero faces might monologue, but the MC will not instinctively know how to counter every villain they encounter. I also wanted to bring in more realism than usual superhero stories, ie: the MC cannot just walk and have a meeting with Batman or Superman, he would have to “work his way up” in terms of credibility and whatnot. The Aliens that show up in Shift I tried to make different than the ones in Dial, just to share the love for lesser-known characters. And to make it fairer for the villains of the DCU, the main character will not wantonly use if gain at all an Alien X or a ben 10 form of Kryptonians, just so the characters have to work a little bit for victory. I urge anyone reading to consider checking out both APGTE and Dial as they are both amazing works, and I hope you enjoy them. The beginning of how the MC enters the DCU will not be as important as him actually existing in that universe, so that is why a ton of time is not spent on that part of the story. Chapters will be around 2.5 thousand words and come out around every weekday.
