I got up from bed that morning with a pounding headache, I felt a huge tugging in my guts as I sat up on my bed.

I winced as I gripped my belly, I tried reaching for my phone on my nightstand when my hands collided with a glass cup which shattered on the ground.

I screamed as I realized the shattering of the glass, I jumped back on my bed due to the shock I felt.

My door was thrown open by Drake who was already dressed for the day's work. He looked distraught as he rushed towards me.

"Skai, what happened ?" He asked as he looked down at the shattered glass on the floor.

"It was an accident." I got up from my bed as I shook off the shock from my body.

"Did you hurt yourself ?" He asked as he ran his hands through my arms as he checked for cuts.

"No, I'm fine." I said coldly as I withdrew my hands from his.

"Skai, how long would you be like this ?" He asked as he rested his hands on his hips.

"Be how ?"

"Cold and angry, I've apologized haven't I ?" He tugged at the back of his head.

"I'm not angry nor cold, I'm just overwhelmed with everything happening." I said as I trailed towards my dresser to get my robe.

"So much information to process, so much responsibility to carry out and so many people to run away from." I had a long face as I put on my robe.

Drake walked towards me as he took the belt of my robe from my hands and helped me in knotting it.

"I understand you're tired of everything but you're not alone." He smiled as he made a firm knot.

"I'm here to help you with all of your problems but I can only do that if you let me in." I looked up at him as his eyes were boring holes into my soul.

I didn't say anything in return and he knew I wasn't going to say anything so he drew me in a hug, I couldn't restrained myself from wrapping my arms around him, maybe it was time to let go of all the grudges.

"Thanks." I whispered as I rested my head on his shoulder.

"Don't thank me for what I'm supposed to do."He said as he stroke my back slowly.

I looked over at the window and I could see the sun rising then it occurred to me I had to go to work.

"I need to get ready now." I said as I pulled away from him slowly.

"Same here, take care of yourself and don't stay too long." He pecked me on the lips before retreating to the door.

I watched him as he walked out of my room before going into the bathroom to have my bath.

I climbed down the stairs and I could hear loud laughter from the living room. My eyes landed on Sekani and Khalil who where seated on the couch watching a movie while having their breakfast.

"Good morning guys." I said as I looked at them with a confused look.

"Morning." They both said with their eyes fixed on the screen, I guess it's one of their addictive series.

"Why are you having breakfast here ?" I asked them as I took my seat in a couch so I could wear my heels.

"Coz of the movie." Sekani said as he put a full slice of bread into his mouth.

"Who cooked ?" I asked as I saw a plate of scrambled eggs on the center table alongside a teapot which is probably filled with tea.

"We did alongside Drake." Khalil said as he gave me a proud look.

"Drake did most of the work though." Sekani added as he sipped his cup of tea.

"Oh okay, I'm on my way now." I said as I got up from the couch grabbing my handbag.

"We are also on our way too." Khalil said as he dropped his plate on the table.

"Where too ?"

James walked into the living room with his usual well kitted suit that made him look sharp.

"Are you boys ready ?" He asked as he motioned to the boys.

"Sure, give me a minute." Sekani said as he picked up the plates in a tray. He's always taking it as his responsibility to do the dishes after a meal.

"We're going to Mom's place." He said as he made his way to the kitchen.

"Oh ..." I forgot about his outing to Mom's place and a shiver ran through my spine realizing that he would find out about our parents reconciliation.

"Have fun." I said coldly as I waved at Khalil and James as I strode out of the house. I could feel them giving themselves awkward looks because of how cold I reacted.

I was seated in my office with my whole body fully rested on the seat. My head was till banging and I still felt that weird feeling from this morning.

I leaned forward to drink the glass of water from the table but my phone began ringing. I looked at the screen and it was a face time request from the twins.

A small smile crept on my face as I accepted the call, I rolled my seat to face the brighter side of the room so they could have a clearer view of me.

"Skai !" They chirped in unison as soon as they saw me.

"Hi girls." I chuckled at their cute faces that was a little too close to the screen.

"We've missed you so much, you didn't call us like you promised." I shut my eyes firmly for a second as I realized I haven't been checking on them.

"I'm so sorry, a whole of things happened and it just took me off track. How can I make it up to you ?" I pleaded as I sat on the edge of the seat.

"It's fine, we understand things haven't been easy, you don't owe us anything." Busola said while giving me a soft smile alongside Busayo.

"When this whole storm is over, I owe you two a week of cruising." I promised them as I swung my other hand in the air.

Little did I know my hands would collide with the glass of water on my table and once again the shattering sound rang through my ears.

I involuntarily dropped the phone from my other hand I'm response to the shock of the crashing sound.

"Skai ?" I could bear a voice from my phone and I quickly picked it up from the ground.

"Are you okay ?!" Busayo asked with worry written all over her face.

"I-I-I'm fine, I fell my glass cup." I faked a smile as I shrugged.

"That's not good, you should get someone to clean that up before you get yourself injured." Busola advised and I got on my knees to pick up the broken pieces.

"You shouldn't do that by yourself." She warned and I could see Busayo supporting her with a nod.

"It's okay, I can handle it." I said as I positioned the phone on my left hand so I could pick it with my right.

"Ska-" I interrupted her with a loud scream as one of the sharp edges of the glass sliced through my finger.

"Oh my God !" Busayo gasped as she saw blood dripping from my finger.

Melody rushed inside with a distraught look as she searched around the office for me.

"Miss !" She gasped as she found me on the floor with a bleeding finger.

"Go get the first aid." I ordered her as I tried to get up from the floor.

"You should take things easy." Busayo said as she drew closer to the screen.

I couldn't comprehend why a simple cut was hurting so much maybe the cut was deep because blood was profusely rushing out of the finger. The pain was unbearable as I tried to relax in my chair.

"I think we should let you treat the finger we'd call you later in the day." Busola suggested as she drew her hands towards the screen to end the call.

"No it's fine, I can still talk." I haven't spoken to them in a while and they called me even when I've failed to check up on them and I just can't dismiss them.

"Skai, you're bleeding and in pain, we'd call you later today. Don't worry about us." Busayo ordered while Busola agreed with her in a hum.

I nodded my head with a smile as I waved at them and they waved back before ending the call.

"I'm back, O my God ! O my God!" Melody repeatedly exclaimed as she paced towards me with the first aid kit in her hands and a janitor followed her.

"Calm down Mel." I told her as she rested the box on my desk. She took in a deep breath before opening the box.

She cleaned the blood off my finger and applied some antiseptic to it before applying a band-aid while the janitor cleaned up the broken glasses.

"Sorry, please I suggest you take a break." She advised as she packed up the kit.

"Thanks." I gave her a brief smile before relaxing into my chair.

She gave me a look that I couldn't decipher before she turned around to walk out of the office.

I watched as she had the door for the janitor before walking out of the office. I closed my eyes as I rested my heading my other hand.

Since I woke up this morning, I've been feeling sick and emotionally off and I was still comprehending why I keep having accidents with glass cups.

I felt a hot tear run through my cheeks as I shut my eyes tightly, today feels so disoriented and it seemed to be full of accidents.

I reached out for my phone and I looked around my table to check for any glass that I could possibly hit, I was beginning to get paranoid because I seem to be shattering glasses all the time.

I picked up my phone so I could call Drake and tell him I'm not feeling too well, I know his voice won't make feel better but it can elevate my mood.

I dialed his number severally but he didn't pick any of my calls I guess he's in a meeting or something. I tossed the phone on my desk disappointedly as I slumped back into my chair.

Melody peeked her head into the office and she gave me a look asking for permission to come in and I motioned for her to proceed.

"There's a Mister Sekani and Khalil requesting to see you." My eyes grew wide as I heard what she said.

"Do they know I'm in ?" I didn't want them to see me and my injured finger most especially my wet eyes.

"Yes." She pursed her lips in disappointment.

"Oh, I need to clean up." I said as I got up from my desk, I scanned the desk to look for something to clean my face.

Then my eyes landed on my bag I reached for it and brought out a facial wipe to wipe my face while Melody helped me to stretch out my blouse.

"How do I look ?" I asked her as I threw my hands out for her to get a clearer look at me.

"Not your best but it's manageable." She said as she scanned through my body.

"Okay send them in." I let out a deep sigh as I settled back into my seat and brought out some files to pretend I'm working.

"Valerie !" Sekani squealed as he rushed into the office with Khalil trailing behind him.

Sekani was looking around my office with his jaw down while Kahlil was chilled bobbing his head up and down as she scanned the office.

"Even my Dean's office is not as good as this." He commented as he glanced through the cushions.

"Well thank you."I said as I pushed the file aside.

"How are you doing Skai ?" Khalil said as he settled in one of the seats in front of my desk.

"I'm doing good." I faked a broad smile as I sat upright in my seat.

"Boss Skai Valerie." Sekani teased me as she slumped into the other seat while I rolled my hands at him.

"Why are you guys here anyway ?"

"What's wrong if I choose to see where coming my sister works or should I say my future workplace." He wiggled his brows at me and I remembered when he asked me for a future job.

"Asides that James had to meet Drake so we told him to drop us here." Khalil added.

"Oh okay, so how did your visit to Mom's place go ?" I asked with slight fear in my voice as to what he'd say next.

"Oh it was splendid ! Khalil and mom bonded well." He rolled his eyes as he poked Khalil slightly.

"She's cool, what do you expect ?!" He shrugged as he let out a chuckle.

"Yeah yeah." He said as he relaxed into the chair with full comfort. Relief flushed through me as I realized he didn't see dad nor find out about mom and dad's reconciliation.

"So how long would you be here ?" Sekani asked as he gestured around my office.

"Soon enough."

"You mean you're closing early ?" Khalil asked as he studied my face.

"Yeah, I'm not feeling too good." I said as I stretched my body.

"Whoa, what happened to your finger." I froze in the middle of stretching and I looked up at my hands that were in the air.

"Oh just a cut."

"When did it happen ?" Sekani rushed to where I sat and he took my injured hand in his.

"Ouch !" I winced as he ran his hands through the cut and I could see worry in his eyes as she studied it.

I couldn't think of any lie to use to cover up what happened so I decided to just brush it off.

"Hey why don't we get a cart full of snacks and head home to binge watch movies." I got up from my seat with a huge smile on my face as I looked between Sekani and Khalil's face.

Their faces lit up with smile as they nodded eagerly to my idea. I smiled back at them and began stuffing my bags with my things.

"Which movie should we watch first ?" He asked me as he walked to where he sat before.

"We could watch anything as long as it's not horror." I said as I flung my bag over my arm.

"Okay leggo !" Sekani said as he bounced out of the office. Khalil and I laughed at his childish display as we walked behind him.

We bought as many snacks we could get and the groceries bags were occupying most of the back seat.

"I'm so pumped!" Sekani said as he drummed on the dashboard with his hands.

"Can't wait to chill, eat snacks and do the thing we know best."

"Watch Movies !" They both chirped as the gave each other a knowing look through the rear view mirror.

We were driving along a lonely road which had tall trees at both sides,this road is usually lonely and I always get scared anytime I drive here alone on my way home.

Thankfully, I had Sekani and Khalil with me who were driving my fear away with their humour and company.

"Skai how does this car stereo work ?" Sekani asked me as he looked at the full screen stereo on the dashboard. I laughed at him because I also had to read the manual before I could get the hang of it.

I looked down at him and focused on the screen, I directed him to punch a power button. I was about selecting a song when I heard Khalil shout at us.

"Skai, watch out!" I immediately looked up and I saw a black Jeep approaching us and I swiftly put the car to a halt.

The other driver didn't stop driving instead he kept driving on the same lane opposite me. I honked at him but he kept driving down.

"Is he high or something ?" Sekani said with a scowl on his face.

"I'd just avoid him." I said as I tried reversing so I could make my way to another lane.

I looked over my rear view mirror and I saw another black car that was parked behind me, I furrowed my brows at the car as I tried to look into the car.

I couldn't make a view of the driver because their glasses were tinted. "What's going on ?" Sekani said as he tried getting down from the car but I gripped his arm.

"No stay inside, they don't look good." I said as I looked intently at the Jeep in front of us.

My eyes almost came out of it's socket when I saw Andre coming out of the Jeep with a rifle in his hands.

"Holy sh.." Sekani restrained himself from cursing as I gave him a nasty look.

I locked the doors with the central lock. "Don't panic." I assured them as I watched other hefty men climb down from the car behind us while Andre made his way to my car.

He approached the window at my side and he knocked slightly on the glass.

I put my hands on the steering wheel planning to accelerate myself out of here even if we might crash.

"Don't even think about it Skai !" He shouted at me and I looked around to see that had three men surrounded our car with their guns pressed against the glasses.

"If you think of driving outta here, my men won't hesitate to kill your little friends." He motioned at the men that stood around the car.

"Skai don't keep me waiting." He warned as he narrowed his eyes at me.

"I'm not opening any damn door!" I barked at him and I could feel Khalil trembling behind me as I felt his cold hands on my shoulder.

Before I knew what was going on, Andre hit the glass with the edge of his rifle and I shielded myself from the shattering glass.

He put his hands through the window and so he could unlock the door. He angrily opened the door and dragged me out of the car with full force and Sekani immediately rushed out of the car.

"You're such a stubborn brat !" He snarled in my face as he gripped my arms tightly.

"Let her go !" Sekani shouted as he stood in front of us.

"It's little Sekani." He chuckled as he walked closer to him with me firmly fixed in his hands.

"Why can't you just let her be uhn ?!" He stared sharply at Andre who was smiling widely at him which made me scared.

"Sekani, just go back." I begged him as I feared what Andre might do to him.

"I don't have time for this." Andre said before he whistled at one of his men who came and pointed a gun at Sekani's back.

"Move boy!" He pushed Sekani forward as Andre and I followed. A million thoughts was spinning through my mind as I walked towards the car in the arms of Andre.

Sekani was reluctant in moving and the hefty man who held a gun behind him kept on pushing him.

I knew Sekani wouldn't go easily and he'd try to do something funny and my assumptions turned right as soon as I saw Sekani turn around to face me.

He ran to me and tried to wiggle me out of Andre's arms.

"Sekani stop !"

"I'm not gonna go down easily."

"He's gonna kill you !"

"Let us go monster." He said as he shoved Andre backwards.

"You don't know what you're playing with." Andre warned him as he held his rifle firmly.

"Drake's gonna kill you !" Andre's state of mind changed at the mention of Drake's name as he was now breathing heavily and veins around his head grew larger.

"What did you say ?!"

"You heard right, psycho ! You gon' die."

"Sekani." I whispered to Sekani and motioned for him to stay low.

Andre walked towards him and grabbed him by his neck and he increased his grip around it then he punched him hard on his face.

I was about running to him when the other man held me in his arms and put a gun to my guts.

Andre kept on punching him bitterly and when Sekani fell to the floor he kicked him in the guts.

"Andre stop! Just take me and let him be." I begged as hot tears rushed from my eyes.

He didn't seem to listen to me and he continued to beat Sekani and the groans I heard from him made me close my eyes in fear.

"I dare you to say one more thing !" I heard Andre shouting at him which made me open my eyes.

"You're just a wretched dead man." Sekani said as he spat the blood from his mouth into Andre's face.

Andre growled as he wiped off the blood from his face. "I'm going to show you dead." He put out his rifle in front of Sekani and I struggled within grip of the man that held me firmly.

"Sekani !" I shouted as I watched Andre stand in front of him with a rifle pointing at his head.

I wanted to shut my eyes and avoid seeing what's going to happen next but before I decided to close them the loud sound of the rifle filled my ears and I could see the moving figure of Sekani came to an end.

"No ! Sekani !" I shouted with all my might as I tried my best to struggle out of the man's grip but he threw me over his shoulder.

"Get her in the car." Andre ordered him as he kicked Sekani.

"What about the other kid ?" One of the men asked Andre as I was out thrown into the Jeep.
