it was wednesday, which means it's the day little hershel is supposed to go on his first ever date. he's excited to say the least. hershel can't believe that his dreams were even slightly coming true. his clouded mind running with several different scenarios. it makes hershel's small tummy turn fluttery.

before the date, however, is another day of school. currently hershel is getting ready for the day. he didn't feel like dressing up today so he opted for some jeans; skinnies of course, and a pastel yellow hoodie.

journal in hand and book bag on his back, sweet hershel is off to face another day of torment.

as hershel made his way to the gates of the school, he spotted louis. he was leaning up against the brick walls and looking around. they made eye contact and little hershel immediately began to blush when he saw the smile that surfaced upon louis' face.

louis met him half way, the smile never leaving his lips.

"hey, doll. ready for the day?"

hershel keeps his eyes to the floor mostly, because he still gets insanely nervous around louis. he's been admiring him from afar ever since the school year began, so it hasn't really hit him that he's being acknowledged let alone thought about by the other.

"i-i'm really excited, actually..." hershel does wish that his stutter would back off. "you never did tell me where we're going — you don't have to though," he adds softly.

he hears a chuckle from louis, and lifts his head to witness it. hershel is definitely going to sketch that image later.

louis links arms with the younger while leading him inside the school. there's confidence that just seems to be oozing out of him as he practically leads hershel to his locker. turning his nose up to everyone that's staring, he looks to the feminine boy. "course i'll tell you. there's this cute ice cream shop around the corner that i think you'll enjoy. we can head there after school?" he asks as they stop in front of sweet hershel's small locker. louis watches as the other stuffs his bag inside along with his journal after he fishes out his books that he needs. deciding at the last minute to be a gentleman, he shuts the locker and offers to carry hershel's books.

"oh—" hershel is taken aback but agrees nonetheless. he's never been treated like this by a boy before, but it feels really good. the two start walking down the hall, oblivious to the many stares they're still getting. "the ice cream shop," hershel remembers "it sounds lovely... b-but would you mind if i went home first? just to change."

hershel is afraid of saying the wrong thing. he isn't making direct eye contact with louis out of fear of him canceling their plans. little hershel isn't used to this, so he doesn't know what to expect. before the overthinking could continue louis shakes his head.

"that's completely fine, i'll drive you. meet me in front of the gate after school." it wasn't a question, it was a command. and that made little hershel's heart jump. he doesn't realize that louis has handed him his books and strutted off his his own class, leaving hershel at the door of his first class. with bright red cheeks hershel makes his way to his seat in the back of the class, spending the duration daydreaming about his prince.

this date is going to be the highlight of his year.
