He then let go of my hand and he took something out of his pocket. It was Opal's eyes. I looked away from them and closed my eyes wishing that I could be home. What a way to celebrate a birthday! It felt like he was going to do something else, but a sudden noise beat him to it. I was scared at first that it was Opal that made that noise and gave her position away, but it was fortunately not the case. It sounded like someone was breaking out of whatever they were into.
"Um? It seems like one of them broke out", he said snapping out of his blood lust mode.
"Well, it does not matter. I will just chase them later", he then looked at me directly at my eyes, easily seeing the fear and the panic that I had. He smiled without a creepy smirk as he shuffled my hair. Something fell on the bed. I did not look at it and Liam did not seem to notice it.
"I..." Liam started, but, was again stopped by a loud sound. His eyes widened and he left the room without a thought. I looked at the object that fell on the bed. It was his remote. I pressed on the button that had a chain design on it and I was free.
"Opal. We need to go now", I said as I opened the door.
"Are you sure he left?"
"Yes, but we need to hurry". I took one of her hands and we ran down the hall. With a simple click, all the doors were unlocked. The loud alarm was destroying our ears.
"We are almost there. Hang on"
"I will try".
We finally came across a different door. It looked heavier and more difficult to open than any of the previous ones. There was a little sign saying "exit". I pressed the wall button on the remote and the door opened. The outside world was now in front of us. We were in the middle of a very busy street with a ton of people left and right. I rushed at one of the strangers and griped their arm.

"Help us. Call the police", the woman looked at us very concerned about us. She gasped when she looked at Opal's face. She dialed the number while Opal fell on her knees.
"911, how can I help you?"

Now sold into slavery, the young man must find not only a reason to survive but a purpose to carry him home. The journey has just begun, and the hardest step is always the first one. ~ This is my attempt at both the Xianxia/Wuxia and Portal/Isekai genre of fiction that I love, and the means to provide a story set in such guidelines, while distancing myself from some of the more common tropes. I do hope you enjoy the story I shall endeavor to tell. ~ Average post between 1000 - 3000 words. This is a work in progress, and will be edited and adjusted over time. If you’re interested in something a bit more GameLIT, you might want to check out my second story on Royal Road, “The Dawnfire Archives”. My newest story is a combination of both genres, but with a female main character at the helm. Feel free to check out "The Card Thief of Culnivar"!
