《My Best Friend's Brother》6

Moana insists that I sleep on the bed to her right, on the bed that Riana wants to take. I decline, at first, because seriously, I don't want trouble with Riana. But then, Moana being Moana, I end up accepting.
Riana stares daggers at me but, oh well.
"Uh...guys, where's Bianca?" Riana asks.
"She's probably somewhere in the house. It's not like she's a kid, you know. She'll come when she feels like it," says Alice, one of the Rps.
I move to the giant telescope and look through it. Now I can see another galaxy. What's it's name? Cheesecakes, I don't remember. Oh well. I go to bed after everyone has already slept. And boy, can Riana snore?
I wake up early in the morning. I stretch and stop dead. Today's Saturday. And I am up this early. That's never happened. I check my temperature just to be sure. Not too hot. Normal, I suppose.
I look around to find everyone else asleep. They sure look like they haven't slept for long. I mean, their hair is still tidy, while I on the other hand, look like I've just had a narrow escape from a tornado. Yeah, that's me. I ain't no sleeping beauty.
I slowly tiptoe to the lift and leave the room. Now, where do I find the kitchen? Jeez, this place is so big. I can get lost in it. Maybe, I go this way. No, maybe this way. Ugh. I walk around till I find it. Ahh. The kitchen. I get a glass of water and sip on it.
Someone else enters the room. I turn and almost regret it. But then again, I think I don't. I take in the sight in front of me. Take a guess. Yep, it's Joe and he's shirtless, with only shorts hanging dangerous low around his waist. Déjà vu. Boy, he's got a sex god's body. I hope I'm not drooling.
"Hey, you like what you see?" He asks. My cheeks flash a deep pink. Thankfully, the room is dim for him to notice. Hr walks closer to me when I don't reply. "Did I do something wrong, princess?"
We are not answering him. Let's pretend he is not in the room.
"C'mon, stop ignoring me like that."
No reply.
"You know what?" He says, clearly getting ticked off, "fine."
Still, no reply.
He walks away. I watch his retreating back.
While the rest of the girls leave for home, Moana holds me back. She says she wants to spend the whole rest if the day with me. I end up leaving at 8 in the evening.

I spend the whole Sunday at home. I play on my phone upto around midday; until the battery dies. The next few minutes are spent staring at the ceiling. Okay. This is too much. I jump off the bed, grab my backpack and thirty minutes later, I'm taking my order at Snackeat restaurant. I take a seat and pull out my laptop from the backpack and set it at the table.
A few minutes later, a waitress brings my order and places a note beside the laptop, then leaves. I watch her until she disappears behind a door. I slowly pick up the note and read,
Hey princess, come meet me outback, in the alley.
Princess? Hmm, only one person calls me that. He actually thinks I will meet him. Much less, in an alley. Guy has the nerves. I fold the note and throw it in the bag. I'll dispose it in a trash can outside. I start searching about celebrity gossip.
The waitress comes back after approximately ten minutes with another note. I tell her to wait as I read it.
C'mon princess, I won't do you any harm.
"Tell whoever is giving you these, to stop disturbing you. You have work to do and you might get fired," I say to the waitress.
"If I do that, then I may get fired as well. Actually, he's one of my bosses."
Bosses? "Bosses?"
"Yes, the Frost family owns this place. So that makes everyone in the family my boss. Well, technically." Too much information.
"Oh, uh_well then, tell him I don't want to see him, okay?" She nods and leaves.
Five minutes later, Joe is sitting right in front of me. I ignore his presence and make myself very busy. So instead, he covers the laptop.
"Don't make yourself very busy when I'm around," he says.
"What do you want?"
"Oh nothing. I was just bored until I saw you and thought you might entertain me somehow."
I look at him with a bored look and attempt reopening the laptop, but he stops me. "Will you knock it off? I have things to do."
"Ouch. I'm hurt," he pouts and snatches away the laptop. I try to take it from him, but we accidentally touch. I feel heat rise all the way from my feet to my arm. I don't like these feelings.
"I break the contact and settle in my seat. "Okay, give me my laptop. I'm done playing."

He surprisingly hands it over. I place it in the bag and turn to finish my drink. Moana pops up in the 'Staff only' door. She scans the place and rushes to my table and sits.
"What's up?" She asks.
"Well, your friend doesn't want to talk to me." Joe speaks up.
"I was leaving anyway," I say.
"So soon?" Moana asks.
I look at Joe. "Yeah, someone just ruined my evening."
"Hey, hey, hey, I didn't ruin anything. I just wanted us to talk, like buddies."
"I ain't your buddy."
"Okay, am I missing something?" Moana asks.
"No," we uniformly say.
"In fact, I'll see you tomorrow, Moana." I take my leave.
That guy really has the guts. God, I hate him.
Oh, but you like him. My subconscious pipes in.
"Oh, shut up you. I don't like him. I hate him with every cell in me." I say to my subconscious. The people on the sidewalk look at me like I'm crazy. Wait. I was speaking to myself. I plaster on a fake smile and continue on my way.

Weeks have gone by now and not so much has changed. I do go out with Moana a lot. Fact, she's my best friend. Her brother, he hasn't disturbed me much. In fact, I haven't seen him in a while. I should be happy about that, I know but___it actually disturbs me.
Anyway, Moana's and my parents have grown close. Like real close. The Frosts invited us to dinner three days ago. Luckily, and probably unluckily for me, Joe wasn't there.
At school, everything is going smoothly. Except for some annoying bitch. I don't know what I ever did to Riana but bitch hates me.
She's always picking up on me. Like, she once tried to frame me for breaking her iPhone tablet. Though luckily for me, there had been a blonde girl whose name I've forgotten, she claimed to have seen Riana break it herself.
Then, three weeks ago, she tried a prank on me. That is, pouring a bucket of mustard over my head, but instead, she got the spice. Thanks to Joe, who warned me. Yep, Joe helped me alright. He still isn't dating her yet but damn, girl is like glue. As far as I know, Joe isn't dating anyone. But then again, he doesn't date.
As for Star, well, she's dating Darrell. The blonde guy who was with Joe on our first day. The leader of there clique. The two have been dating since, four five weeks ago. And boy, is she in love. I just hope she won't come crying to me soon.
In a few days, we are going for summer break and I'm super excited. A few months out of school is what I need. I can imagine all the things I'm going to do.
I'm planning on getting a part time job. I'll probably cross that off the list because my mom wouldn't allow it. Might as well just sleep through the summer.
On this particular day, I chose to go shopping with Moana, Candy and Star. These three are shopperholics.
"So, Erica...what's really going on between you and my brother?" Moana asks while she tries on a dress.
I feel a slight heat on my cheeks. "Nothing." I say.
"C'mon, I see the way he looks at you in the halls at school. I know he might like you."
"True that," Star pipes in.
"Well, I don't know."
"Just be careful. I don't want you to get hurt," says Moana.
During supper, dad decides to drop a bomb. "So, you guys, yes you and Star, are going on a trip."
"A camp? Like a summer camp?" Stat queries.
Dad makes a face. "No, not at all. I hate those things. Anyway, it's a family thing, to the lagoons."
"Are you serious? Oh my God, dad I love you." I practically scream.
"You'll then back a few days before school starts."
"Okay. Oh man, I can't wait." Star says, reflecting my joy.
"I'll stop you off at the docks on Monday morning." Say what now? The smile on my face wipes off.
"Wait. You are not coming along?" I ask.
"No, but I'm sure you guys will do okay." He smiles.
He's hiding something. But I let it pass anyway.
***
We haul our bags out of the house and into the trunk of the car.
The drive to the docks is short. I'm super excited about this.
We arrive at the entrance. Never be too excited about something because God always has other plans in mind.
Right at the entrance, is Moana and Joe, with their parents.
