"What." I stutter, my breathing labored and large. "How the hell would I have been-been poisoned?" My throat seems to close, my shock stitching the skin between each bone, robbing me of air.
Octavius doesn't answer me, as his eyes switch between gold and black, anger than sadness.
"Octavius!" I snap, my mind flying in every direction but never landing anywhere. He looks up from my mark for the first time and I plead at him with my eyes.
"I need to find the pack doctor." He stands up, raking his shaking hands through his hair and speaking softly, almost to himself. "I need to find him, I need to find whoever hurt her, I need to kill him-" His speech is running miles in seconds, all this coming out in one breath.
"Octavius, breath please!" I get to my feet, but crumble against the bed once the pain in my side increases. He stares at my hip, his golden eyes flashing a red I've never seen.
"I'm going to kill whoever did this with my bare hands." He growls under his breath and grabs me, holding me in his arms. I cry out in pain, the bending of my torso pressing on the mark.
"Dr. Sanchez!" He calls out, carrying me into the main living room, laying me down on the couch gently.
"Dios mio." The doctor gasps in Spanish. He lifts up my shirt a little, and Octavius snarls at him.
"Calm down, Octavius. He's trying to help me." Octavius puts his palms on his face, rubbing at his eyes in frustration. He looks like he's having some sort of attack. I'm too numb to react.
"The poison hasn't spread far, she is still savable. She needs an antidote, I'm having my aids bring it now. Jorge, rapido, por favor." His Spanish is comforting, it's been a long time since I've heard someone speak my father's language.

Octavius is pacing back and forth, practically burning a hole in the ground.
"What happens if the antidote doesn't work?" Octavius whispers.
"She will develop the boils over her entire body, she would be dead within a day. She is older, so it will work slower than on the children."
"How much of the antidote do you have?" I ask.
Doctor Sanchez sighs, frowning deeply. "Not nearly enough if this has affected more than this family. The baby is in the worst condition. He needs the antidote soon, or he will die."
I hear Charlie's mother sobbing and her husband wraps his arms around her, silent tears building in his eyes as well. My heart breaks looking at them, thinking that they are about to lose two children.
The door bursts open, revealing a tan boy, maybe two years younger than me, holding three small bottles filled with green liquid.
"Doctor Sanchez, here." He quickly hands the vials to Sanchez, who pulls out a few syringes.
"Alpha, I need to save the children, but I might not have enough for an adult, like Alessandra."
Octavius is growling furiously, his chest rising like a mountain with every labored breath.
"You need to save Alessandra, she is your Luna, my mate, my life."
I look over again to Charlie, barely breathing on the bed. And I make my decision.
"Give it to the children, now." I demand, my voice weak.
"Alessandra," Octavius starts, about to disagree.
"No." I stop him, and take a deep breath. "These children are about to die, I couldn't live with myself if I didn't help them live. I have more time, he can make more. But right now, the children live." I nod to Sanchez, who looks at Octavius.

"Do as she says, Sanchez." He orders weakly, and he kneels next to the couch, petting my hair.
I hear a tiny infant's cry, and I look to see Charlie's breathing normalize, and I almost start to cry. The patches on his soft skin begin to fade very quickly. He's going to live.
"Give it to Lacy, the child in the next room." I demand, and Sanchez disappears into the next room. He returns with a half a vile left, kneeling next to me.
"Luna, this might not be enough to save you." He reminds me, the needle hovering above my arm.
"Do it." Octavius barks. I inhale deeply, as the needle sinks into my skin, and my vision goes black.
