Chapter two ▪ The King's Queen
"ommy, who are the people with those pretty red eyes?" She asked.
"They are vampires, Dahlie." Her mother replied.
"Why am I not a vampire and they are?" She asked as they continued walking to the town square. She is just an innocent child, she doesn't know what the vampires do to humans.
"They were born as vampires because their mommy and daddy are vampires." Her mother replied. She didn't want to tell her that some were turned into vampires. She was a 6 year old and kids get very curious at that age. She doesn't want her to go up to a vampire and ask him to turn her because she thinks their eyes are pretty.
"I want to be a vampire." Her twin brother, Isaac, added dreamily.
"No, vampires are bad. They hurt us. You don't want to be like vampires are. They killed many of your friends' mommies and daddies. "
"Okay, mommy. Vampires are bad. We are good." Isaac said all the while looking down at the floor, ashamed of his words.
"Dahlia, watch out for them. They like taking girls from their families." Her mother said, having long forgotten to use their nicknames.
"Okay momma." She said.
"Come here." Their mother Vasilisa pulled on their hands to get closer to the stage where the vampire lord just walked on.
He started speaking.
"I am here to inform you that The King has made a new rule. All humans must be in their home from 11 pm to 5 am. Those that choose to disrespect The Royal Higness will face the consequences." He yelled out to the crowd of humans underneath him.
Everyone bowed down to him and he left.
Those that have a home walked to it, and those that don't were left worrying about the consequences they were going to face.
What they didn't know was that the King was roaming the streets at that time, looking for her in his true form.
He didn't want anyone to know kf his identity and tried to keep the humans safe from him.
Not even after has he found her.
