The moment I stepped foot in my boring old campus again, I was surrounded by the entire school's snickers and whispers. I never got bullied, however, being neglected of my total existence wasn't too pleasing either. I never tried to make new friends, or rather talk to anyone except Changbin, but it never really bothered me.
I awkwardly held onto the straps of my black Jansport backpack as I caught on to a few of the comments in the hallways.
I heard he tried to kill himself, one said.
Should we ask to see his cuts?, another asked.
I scoffed as I passed by a large group of the popular kids staring at me in pity, including Chan looking uncomfortable in the center. He quickly caught my eye and mouthed a "Sorry." I ignored him and continued speeding down the hall to get to my first period.
Little did I know, the one and only CHANGBIN had been watching me from afar. As I turned the corner and prepared to enter my classroom, I felt a tight grip on my arm that stopped me from doing so. I yelped and pulled back almost immediately, only to find a familiar face staring back at me with his arms crossed.
"Where were you!?" He shrieked. I rubbed my arm and gave him an annoyed expression.
"Quit scaring me, mate. It isn't funny."
"You didn't answer my question. Why didn't you answer my calls?"
"I was... sick." I partly lied. He raised his eyebrow at me suspiciously.
"Sick? You never skip when you're sick."
"I had a really high fever, and now I have to get to class." I tried to turn away, but he grabbed me again to face him. I sighed.
"What do you want now?"

"I want to know why you weren't at school." He tapped his foot impatiently. "I'm waiting."
"Ugh, I'll tell you later hyung. Gotta go." And with that, I turned on my heel and left him with his jaw hanging.
"Felix Lee, get back here now!" I snickered and sat down in my seat as he watched angrily from the door.
"Chris, you okay? You seem kinda uptight."
"Nah, just thinking. I'm fine, don't worry." I gave my friend a reassuring smile before going back to watching the clock.
I zoned out listening to the professor talk about atoms, waiting for the stupid bell to ring. As soon as it did, I snatched my bag from the floor, dumping all my papers into it, and swung it over my shoulder hurriedly as I made my way through the maze of desks in Room 42. Running as fast as possible, I tried to make my way past the flooding students that emptied themselves in the hallway.
Finally, I thought. I stood in front of Room 25, waiting for the crowd to disperse as I waited for Felix.
When he saw me standing in front of the door, Felix glared and tried to walk around me to make his way to the cafeteria.
"Hey, hey, hey. Yo Felix!" I caught up to him and pulled on his backpack strings, careful not to make any skin contact.
He sighed and turned around next to his locker. "Yes?" He shot me an agitated glare.
"Woah, mate. Calm down, I'm not gonna bother you. I just wanted to apologize."
"For what?"
"You know, the rumors and stuff going around." I scratched the back of my neck when I realized I wasn't really sure what to say to him.

"That's not your fault." He turned back around and began punching in his locker combination.
"Yeah, I know, but some of them are my friends. They don't mean any harm, though."
He didn't respond.
"Look, um.. Wanna come over on Friday? I have a few other friends who are staying the night, and I want to introduce them to you. To clear things up?"
"No." He bitterly replied.
"Please? I promise I'll leave you alone after this." I begged.
He glanced at me. "You sure? And you won't bring up anything about how I cried like a stupid baby at the hospital or anything?"
"No, of course not! We'll just hang and play games and stuff. I promise!"
"Fine then. I'll be over at 7pm? Text me the address."
"Okay, can I have your number then?"
We exchanged phones and I saved myself as a contact in his. After that, he just turned and walked away as I stood there grinning like an idiot.
"Besides, it was pretty cute that day." I mumbled to myself, smiling.
