laid outside the weird building, in front of Hanako, panting.
"You won't be able to move soon, right?" Hanako looked down at the exorcist, squinting, "Boy."
"So this is your limit even with No. 4's power…"
He continued as Kou went to punch him, but the ghost caught him by the wrist, holding it in a firm grip.
"Then how– How did you plan to save Y/N?" Hanako leaned forward, still holding Kou by his wrist, "You need to think it through more. Everyone talks about how they can save them," Hanako squeezed Kou by his wrist as the exorcist looked at the ghost boy with wide eyes, "that sort of thing. I don't mind it, but…" his grip tightened, "in the end, I'm the only one doing anything. So," Hanako gave Kou a closed-eyed smile, irritation dripping from his voice, "will you just shut up for a bit?"
Hanako harshly let go of Kou, letting him fall to the ground beneath them.
"See, the moon is nearly covered," Hanako looked up, "you're out of time, it seems." Then his eyes widened.
"Now, Mitsuba-kun!!" Yashiro yelled as Mitsuba leaped forward into the air, extending his skeleton arms, successfully catching Hanako, Kou and Shijima before yeeting them into some kind of wagon that was attached to a bicycle.
"All of them are in!" You yelled out to Yashiro, sitting inside the wagon yourself.
"Now," Yashiro sat on the bike, looking as determined as ever, "full speed ahead! Yashiro Nene, here I go!! To the moon, let's go!!"
As Yashiro began to bike up, and over the clouds, you couldn't help but look over the edge of the wagon. It was beautiful. You could see everything beneath you, lights flickering below you in the big city. As the wagon came out of the clouds, you saw the big moon glowing down on you.

"Why is she using a rear car?" Shijima deadpanned as she stood up.
"Haha, how come it's flying…" Mitsuba deadpanned together with her.
"It's a flying rear car!" Your eyes began to shimmer with excitement.
"As expected, senpai!! You're so cool!!" Kou beamed, his eyes shining in the moonlight.
Yashiro looked dead ahead, tramping on the paddles of the bike, "I said, I wanted a pumpkin carriage."
As they talked, you turned to the side, only to see that Hanako was gone. He was standing in the middle of the rear car, in front of the connector, facing the wagon. Your eyes widened and you jumped forward to stop him from unscrewing the connector, which resulted in the two of you falling down and off the rear car.
"Y/N, grab on!–" Kou reached out for you, but he was too late.
You held Hanako by the waist, burying your head in his chest as the two of you fell. But to your luck, you and Hanako bounced on the clouds, still hugging each other, until it came to a stop.
"This is…" Hanako looked around as the two of you sat on the cloud, "above the clouds?!?!"
Hanako sweat dropped and mumbled, "Not bad for a fake world…"
Your baseball bat came in contact with his stomach. He slouched over, putting a hand over his stomach and his eyes looked up at you.
"YOU SELFISH JERK!" You continued to hit Hanako with Betty as you began to scold him.
"WHY'D YOU DO THAT?! WE ALMOST GOT TO THE MOON!"
Hanako laid on the soft surface of the cloud, hand over his head, trying to shield himself from your hard hits.
"But," a sweatdrop ran down his cheek as he held eye contact with you, "your life is…"

You let out a ground out of frustration.
Your hands took a hold of Hanako's wrist, pinning him down to the cloud, "So what if I'm not going to live much longer?!"
Tears began to well up in your eyes as you began to tell him about all the things you want to do in the future, what you wanted to achieve and accomplish, finishing it of with:
"I don't wanna stay here forever! I wanna live my life to the fullest and be with those I care about!" Tears spilled from your eyes and onto Hanako's cheeks. He looked at you with furrowed eyebrows.
You sobbed as you yelled at him once again, your voice shaking from all the crying, "Do you just want me to stay here and never leave?!"
Something within Hanako got triggered once that sentence left your mouth. He abruptly sat up, taking you by your shoulders:
The two of you looked at eachother. It was quiet, none of you spoke. Hanako looked down at his hands and slowly took them away from your shoulders.
"It's not like… I want you to stay here…"
A small breeze came as Hanako started to explain, "you're the same as me, without a future. Me, who is only here to atone from my sins…"
You stared at Hanako as he continued,
"Y/N, you're…
headstrong,
brave,
smart,
and really good at beating up people."
'Beating up people?' you questioned.
"I knew about your lifespan from the very start," he looked at nothing in particular as he spoke, "I mean, I'm dead after all. I never cared who died…"
Images of you and your friends began to flash through his mind, "really, I didn't…" an image of you flashed before his eyes, "I didn't…"
"I thought that I didn't…" he spoke with a small voice, a shadow casted across his face. He looked down, brows furrowed and a small scowl on his face, holding your shoulders in a firm grip. You looked down at him, eyes red from the tears that escaped earlier.

Kingdom of Ice

Reincarnated As A Benevolent Tyrant
NOTICE: This story is under rewrite. New novel has been published. Search **RE: Tyranny** in Royalroad for the new novel.Link- Re: Tyranny Thank You! ------------------------ "Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory." What a brilliant line, isn't it? James was a boy who had nothing to worry about. A happy family, a nice childhood. What's more to ask? But one day, everything changed. He lost everything in the blink of an eye. The only thing left for him were the memories and dreams of the past. Trying to cope up with the loss, he cut all ties with the outside world and became a shut-in, having no one left to call his own or to rely upon. There was nothing left for him in this world, but still he lived and soon found a purpose in his life, which lead him to create something that could change the world. And on the very day when his dream project was about to come to the light, he lost his life, trying to save a little girl from an unfortunate accident. "Will I ever be remembered...? I wish... someone would." These were the last word James mumbled before his conscious faded into darkness. But his life didn't end there, as he is transmigrated into the body of an arrogant, worthless Duke's son in some unknown land with no memories about who is or any idea about where he is. In an era of political turmoil and civil strife, the Duke's son is forced to prove his worth for inheriting the title. Will he be able to accept the new reality and prove himself by leading this country into a prosperous future? Or will he cease to the pressure of his past and lose everything once more? Disclaimer: This is not a power-fantasy or a 'feel-good' story. If you feel a protagonist should never lack agency (especially in early story) or make compromises because of difficult circumstances, then this fiction is probably not for you. It is a story that delves deep into real world sociological/psychological subjects and explores many topics of gray morality. I wrote it because I like stories that make me think more about the world around us, not to detach myself from reality. Some aspects you can expect based on the tags include:- [Kingdom Building]: political drama, geopolitical/geoeconomic strategy- [Army Building]: massive battles featuring in-depth planning, combined arms, and operational logistics- [Identity Crisis]: someone translated into a whole different world having to rebuild their identity and life aims The story starts off slowly, more like a slice of life than action-adventure, but I guarantee you it will get there. For those who want to skip the slow part, start from Chapter - 35 (Beginning of The End) (The whole Disclaimer section is copied from Aorii as I am too busy writing the complete story.) And yes, just for General Knowledge, James will become OP throughout the story. He is not some legendary guy who will pull out Excalibur & conquer the entire world. Update Schedule - One chapter a day. This novel is also available on Scribble Hub. And again, I humbly thank you for reading it. I hope you stick throughout the journey.
