《Here》Chapter Twenty-Four

Lorenzo and I sat in silence, the blindfold laying in the backseat since we were traveling through a town.
I squinted out the window, trying to study my surroundings as the sun shined brightly in my eyes. I was trying to figure out where I was.
My body was tense as I worried about the events that would be coming, the stress giving me a headache. I was sore from being stuck in the same position for so long, my wrist hurting and arms cramping.
I had fallen asleep with the blindfold on, noticing that the time said 10 something a.m. before I did. It was now 2:25 p.m.
He was very intent on me seeing his father instead of any other doctor.
I wonder if he knew what a terrible person his son was.
I flinched as I saw Lorenzo move out of the corner of my eye, relaxing when I realized he was just turning the radio on as he stared at the road in front of him.
He had a nice bruise on his face.
I was satisfied even though it was a light bruise. He deserved it.
I returned to looking out the window.
He stayed in the right lane, never letting anyone get beside of my window.
I guess he didn't trust me.
It does not matter if he does or does not trust me because I will be getting away from him soon. I recognized the familiar road and realized it led to Everfalls.
So the house was far away. I began to relax as we drove past the small 'Welcome to Everfalls' sign. I never thought I would be relieved to be somewhere familiar. Especially Everfalls.
He pulled into the hospital a few minutes later.
So his dad worked at the hospital here? I had only been here a few times as a kid when my mom sprained her ankle, and when I had a severe case of poison ivy all over my face and neck.

We were forced to go by the school doctor for a shot as the poison ivy had been dangerously close to my eyes.
Lorenzo pulled into a parking spot and turned towards me after he shut the engine off.
He stared at me in worry, stress written all over his handsome features.
"You know what I have to do." He whispered, grabbing the drug I replaced with water.
"You don't have to Lorenzo." I said, frowning.
"It will be over soon jay. Don't fight me please." He stated, staring at me in disapproval.
I sighed, hoping he would buy it.
"Okay. I'm scared though." I whispered, feigning worry.
He grabbed my hand.
"It will be okay. All he will do is x-ray your wrist and he might cast it."
I nodded.
He took his key out and undid my chain, pulling my left wrist up and injecting it with water.
Remembering the last couple of times he had drugged me I stared at him for a minute, then let my body slowly fall limp as I allowed my head to fall over my chest.
He stepped out of the car.
I tried to practice maintaining a steady breathing pace, praying he wouldn't be able to tell if I was passed out.
The passenger door opened.
I felt strong arms pull my legs out first, then felt my body uplifted bridal style.
I allowed my body to fall limp and follow every move he made.
The door was slammed shut, the car signaling it was locked directly afterwards.
Worried people gasped as they saw my body being carried.
He kept a quick pace ignoring the concerned pedestrians.
I fought with my body trying my best not to go tense.
The cool air hit me as I felt him step into the hospital.
"Hey I have an emergency, I think her wrist is broken she passed out from the pain. She has been out for a while, we live in the mountains up north I wrapped her wrist and came immediately."

He rambled to the lady at the front desk.
I heard nurses move around as they talked about quickly getting a wheelchair.
Should I just scream and tell them I've been kidnapped? He could exit with me quickly if I did. I need a police officer to be around.
"Is she a regular patient here?"
"Yes." He answered calmly.
"Her name?"
"Lorie Ann Taylor." He answered.
Well that is definitely not my name.
"Who is her doctor sir?"
"Doctor Garcia."
"Okay, I have her in. Go have a seat and we will call you as soon as there is an opening."
I felt my body being placed carefully into the wheelchair, my feet being placed into each footholder.
I peeked as I felt him pushing me forward, seeing no police officers or anyone I knew.
Everyone thinks I'm dead here.
I quickly closed my eyes as he parked me beside a chair, sitting in it directly afterwards.
I waited, feeling my body grow cold from the chilly air inside the hospital.
"Lorie Taylor." I heard my name called.
Lorenzo unparked the wheelchair and began rolling me forward.
"Follow me sir." I heard a nurse say.
They were silent as she led me through to a room.
I heard a knock.
"Doctor Garcia? Lorie is here, she is still out."
Lorenzo and his father quickly greeted each other, his father allowing the nurse to leave.
"This is your girlfriend?" He asked.
"Yes she broke her wrist. I need you to see if surgery is necessary and to get her wrist casted."
"Is she pregnant?" He asked.
It was silent.
"I'm not for sure. I wouldn't think so." Lorenzo answered.
"That's something we need to know." His father said, before saying something in Spanish.
They began talking for a while.
"I'll have the nurse place a gown on her for the x-ray and hospital stay. We can't allow her to be passed out, she will have to be awake for the casting."
They began speaking in Spanish again, Lorenzo sounding angry.
Suddenly it went quiet.
"Fine." Lorenzo answered.
The nurse returned to the room, pushing the wheelchair.
She pushed slower and more carefully than Lorenzo.
Once it was quiet I took action.
"Please help me." I whispered to her.
She jerked her head towards me in shock.
"What?" She asked confused as she thought I had been passed out.
"Please get help. That man kidnapped me please help me." I begged.
She nodded, reacting quickly as she locked the bathroom door and grabbed her phone.
She pulled it to her ear.
"This is Stacy. We need security in the D wing right now and the police need to be called, this is urgent." She said calmly and quickly.
Someone knocked on the door.
"Are you almost done?" I heard Lorenzo say.
The nurse looked at me in worry, nodding at me in assurance.
"I will be soon." She stated clearly.
She grabbed my left hand as I began to cry in shock.
"It's okay honey, the police will be here soon I promise you will be okay." She assured me.
I nodded, feeling safe with the nurse.
"SECURITY!!! PUT YOUR HANDS UP!" I heard a strong male voice yell.
"What's going on?" I heard Lorenzo question in panic.
"HANDS UP NOW!!!" I heard another male voice demand.
I heard footsteps as Lorenzo tried to run, yelling and screaming in the hallways as I heard bodies struggling.
"THIS IS ILLEGAL I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING WRONG!" Lorenzo screamed, "YOU HAVE THE WRONG GUY I'M INNOCENT!!!"
I sobbed, flinching every time I heard anything from outside the door from the scuffle.
The nurse held me in her arms and covered my ears.
