《Silver》10

Ethan's POV
Silver was frowning at me in confusion after I had mumbled the words out awkwardly. As she looked up at me I suddenly felt very nervous. I know she only saw me as her boss but I wanted that to change. I couldn't stop my mind from thinking about her. Even when I was in a meeting I was barely focused on what it was about. Which wasn't the best thing since it was for a major export deal. Luckily the man had been friends with my father and gave me the benefit of the doubt.
*Flashback to Meeting*
"Hello Mr. Enbark, it's nice to finally see you again." I greeted the gray haired man that had been working with my father some time ago. "Thank you for gracing me with this meeting."
"Please call me Thomas. We are practically family." he laughed as he gently enveloped me into a warm embrace before clasping hands. "Anyways, let's get this show on the road shall we?"
"Indeed." I murmured, smiling down at the man with affection. He was so much like my father. "I believe you met my partner Jason Dugles. He will start our presentation today."
We all got situated into the conference room and since Silver was with her son in the hospital I had my Secretary bring in coffee for everyone. As soon as she left Jason started in on the sales pitch. We were trying to get Enbark Exports to invest into our company's imports and exports business. With them on our side we could very well surpass all other corporations and be on top again as we once had been when my father was CEO.
As I listened to him drone on and on about our market and all the desirable traits of the company my mind wandered towards Silver. She was so beautiful. Even when she was filled with worry for her son. Her hair disheveled from all the stressful minutes of running her hands through it, her makeup slightly smudged from when she last put it on. Even without taking proper care for herself she somehow still managed to make me desire every bit of her.

And that son of hers, Aiddan. He was such a lively little lad. Running around the hospital room, giving his mother trouble even though he was fighting Cancer. He was so brave. I believe, even though Silver doesn't want him to, that he understands what's going on. That he has a small chance of dying. I've walked into that room many times to see that three years old boy comforting his mother as she silently cried into his neck. His eyes were filled with so much of his soul that I felt bad he had to be going through this. He was only a little boy and he had to deal with a disease that scared the shit out of most grown men. He truly was a wonderful kid. And I only knew him and his mother for about a week.
Something about the boy made me feel overprotective of him though. I don't quite know what it is but-
The sound of a throat being cleared made me jerk out of my thoughts and yank myself to attention. Thomas and his men along with Jason were all staring at me in confusion.
"Yes?" I asked sheepishly.
"Did you not hear anything I just said boy?" Thomas chuckled, shaking his head.
"Urmm. No." I admitted bowing my head in shame.
"Well even though for most of my business deals I would retract my offer but since you're like another son to me I will simply forget that happened. Just don't let it happen again you hear?" He laughed, shaking his head in joy as his eyes twinkled merrily. "Now I said that for the next four years I will lend you my support and anything else you might need. But as soon as my son becomes of age and takes over the company you will need to get his agreement."

"Thank you sir!" I exclaimed in joy as I stood up and shook his hand. "It was a pleasure doing business with you again Thomas."
"As was with you Ethan." he grinned. "You have turned into a fine young lad. Your father would be proud."
With that they left and I just stood there staring out the window.
"I sure hope he will be." I said to myself.
*End of Flashback*
"Huh?" Silver asked, looking confused.
"I said you should move into your new apartment this weekend." I grin looking down at her in amusement before frowning as I thought for a little. "Maybe you should just move into my house. So I can help with Aiddan and you won't have to travel very far or find a babysitter for him during work. Because I can just work from home other than the meetings and checkup."
Nervously I watched as she bit her lip in thought. Oh God she was so damn hot I internally groaned. "Are you sure you wouldn't mind? I mean you are a busy man."
"I'm sure. I have vacation days due anyways and Jason, my partner, can run the company while I take time off." Before she could protest I rushed on. "Plus I really want to help. I like you. As in...romantically. I want to get to know you more."

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes
