Ethan's POV
"Have we gotten anywhere?" I asked Marco, letting out a frustrated sigh. Why can't we find where Silver is? It's been a week and we haven't made any progress in finding her. Detective Somerset and Conan have been trying their best to look for her with their contacts but they haven't gotten anywhere either.
"No." Marco groaned as he continued to stare at his computer screen.
I was tired of sitting here and doing nothing. Aiddan was getting cranky from not seeing his mother and I didn't know what to do. The only person that could sooth him down when he got hysterical was Ashton. I don't know how he did it but as soon as he picks up Aiddan when he cries for his mother he immediately goes silent. It was like pure magic.
As of right now Aiddan was sleeping calmly on the couch curled up in a blanket. Gently I picked him up and made my way to Marco's front door. Before I could leave Ashton jumped in front of me glaring at where I was holding Aiddan.
"Where are you taking him?" He demanded with a hoarse voice.
"Home." I replied blankly, looking at him indifferently. "He needs some semblance of normality and we could both use a shower. So I am taking him home."
Slowly his expression softened. He looked up at me with apologetic eyes. After a while he grudgingly moved from the doorways, allowing me access out. Before I could say anything he kissed Aiddan on the forehead and turned to walk away. Staring after him I go to talk but he suddenly stops to look over his shoulder.
"Take care of my nephew." He spoke gruffly, his face filled with pain.
"I will." I whispered, feeling slightly choked up.

Walking out the door I walk towards the driveway. Gently putting Aiddan in the car so he doesn't wake up, I start to think about what has been happening to his family.
My son is such a strong kid. He's got cancer and he's battling it like a champion. His mother has been kidnapped, although he doesn't know that. When I showed up, a father he hadn't known his whole life, and he just accepted me with no questions asked.
Okay. I chuckled to myself as I started the car and backed out the driveway. There were a few questions. But he still accepted me into his life with open arms. He showered me in love that I hadn't been able to have or give for the first years of his life. My son truly is a soldier.
Within no time we are finally back at our house. Careful to not wake him I gently pick him up and carry him into the bed. Making sure to shut and lock the door, I start down the hall towards Aiddan's room. Settling him into his bed I tuck him under the covers. Softly I close the door before starting to go to the bathroom down the hall.
Silver's POV
My heart pounded as Rhys slowly opened the door outside the compound. We had finally been summoned to meet my kidnapper and we put our plan into action. Silently Rhys led the way to a car and got in. Following suit I made sure to get in the back as the guards were watching us carefully from the house.
The car started and I kept my head down trying to conceal my happiness. I didn't bother to watch where we were. I knew I probably wouldn't recognize the area. Turning down a winding road I felt the car jerk as it hit jagged rocks. We were going faster than we should have been but what can you do when escaping?

Looking out the window cautiously I see that we had made our way into the run down side of town. We began to slow down as the car came to a stop. Rhys ran out of the car and into a building as fast as he could. I assume this is where his sister is.
Almost as soon as he left Rhys was back. But he brought an adorable little girl. She had long blonde hair that looked to be well kept. It framed a slender, pale face that held bright electric eyes. She looked as if she was older than she truly was. It was as if she had seen something devastatingly traumatic and she was forced to grow up before her time.
Coming to think of it, she probably had. I forget that she had to live with my kidnapper and God knows who he is. Or what he is capable of. Never did I want this child to have to go through that again. I may not know her personally but I felt as if it was my duty to shield her from harm.
Call it motherly instincts or whatever. All I knew is that I would do anything to give these two kids a better life. Especially since Rhys was literally risking his just to do what was right. After this was all said and done I plan on making them a home within my heart. And physically in my house. Or...Ethan's house, I guess. And if he won't allow it I know that my brother would. I would just return to his house because these two children were now a part of my family whether they knew it or not.
I know Rhys understands that I was going to find them a place to live but I don't think he understood that I was going to give him a new family. If he and his sister would accept it that was.
Lost in thought I didn't notice that we had made our way towards downtown New York until Rhys pulled me out of my thoughts.
"Huh?" I replied dazed. "Sorry, this is all just slightly overwhelming."
"It's fine. I just need directions to this Ethan guy's house." Rhys laughed awkwardly as he glanced back at me and his sister.
Nodding, I began to direct him towards the house. In no time we arrived and hurriedly ran to the door. Knocking on the door I was slightly surprised that it didn't fall off the hinges by how hard Rhys and I pounded on it. The door suddenly gave way and I almost fell forward but a hand caught my arm just in time.

Someday, he’ll find where his family went. Someday, he’ll uphold his end of the bargain and hunt beings powerful beyond anything he’s ever known. Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent

Saga of the Jewels VOLUME ONE COMPLETE
Prefer to listen to rather than read Saga of the Jewels? I'm also releasing it as a free audibook serial podcast on iTunes here! Epic YA JRPG-influenced GameLit progression ensemble-cast steampunk romance fantasy! When Ryn’s hometown is destroyed, will he be able to gather together the twelve Primeval Jewels in order to defeat the evil Emperor and save the world of Mid? A fan novelization of an amazing Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist, that currently releases at least one chapter a month. Epic in that this will be very long. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint!” (-Kandaj) YA in that this should be enjoyable to~13-year-olds and upwards. Some gore, some swearing, some sex, but nothing more than PG-13. JRPG-influenced / GameLit in that it uses lots of JRPG tropes, particularly from Final Fantasy. I’ve read a lot of fan Final Fantasy novelisations and you can basically think of this as a fan novelisation of its own Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist as a game... Progression in that the characters level up over time (though not with visible litrpg stat boxes). They grow in ability through training and experience, gain new skills, individually and as a party (think Chrono Trigger) and spend time discussing and stratgeising about how to defeat their opponents. Main protagonist from book three would definitely be able to defeat himself from book one! Ensemble-cast because we've got quite the roster of misfits here. The first volume is all from the main protagonist's POV, but it starts dancing between his and different POVs thereafter. Steampunk in that we’ve also got airships, steam trains, pistols and ambiguous ‘amber bars’ that function a bit like artificial lights… Romance in that there is lots of shipping here, a few love triangles, and you may be kept guessing as to who will actually end up together... Fantasy in that we’re in a vaguely pre-modern setting. We’ve got swords, magic, dragons, dungeons, monsters, all that good stuff. * "This story captures that Final Fantasy quality perfectly. Kiddy but also grim. The characters are great... Severely underrated and needs more favorites/follows. I look forward to seeing how this story will unfold." -Gilgamesh9999 "Starting at the end and jumping backwards is not a writing style seen every day. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but you've executed a fairly crazy idea very skillfully so far. Overall, a strong start to what could be a very strong story." -RandomFF.netUser "You definitely have my interest piqued. It'll be interesting to see where the story goes... It definitely has an 'old school Final Fantasy' type feel to it, which I appreciate...Good job! I am glad you are going into more details about the story you laid out in the prologue...of course the big burning question is 'You know they lose in the the first chapter, so how will they end up winning?' That of course, is the story you're writing...so we'll see how it goes! #Following." -KyleQuicksilver (quotes are from reviews on other sites) * If you enjoy it, don’t forget to boost Saga of the Jewels on topwebfiction.com!
