《More Than You Realize》Chapter 43: Stay Strong

We all had a proper burial for Galaxy Steve. Of course, it rained the day after he passed. I can't... I cant believe this. My two bestest friends, who have been with me longer than anyone else here, are gone. I didn't even get a proper good-bye from either of them.
I didn't have the energy to move from my spot as Alex lowered Galaxy Steve into the ground. We covered him up and placed flowers around the area.
I looked around to all of the sad faces and tear filled eyes. I think the one with the most tears, was Void Steve. I mean, he just watched his other half die before him. How does that even feel? To say that part of you is actually dead?
"Sabre... what now?" Kylie asked sadly. I was snapped from my thoughts with the question. I looked around. Everyone except Void Steve stared at me, waiting for what I would say.
"I... I need some time to think..." I said before walking off. I watched as Void Steve walked off, and that was why I needed the time to think. He's probably extremely upset right now. I... need to comfort him.
I followed him until we came across a river surround my the forest. Well, he thought it was just him. I watched as he sat down by the water.
Void Steve sighed. I flinched before walking out from my hiding spot.
"Hey..." I said before sitting down next to him. He sighed and didn't respond. "Spill everything. What do you feel like right now?"
Void Steve growled. I frowned at him slightly.
"Void Steve..." I mumbled.
he said cutting me off. He doesn't even know what I was going to say! Why "no"?
"Void Steve. This isn't just your problem. Galaxy Steve was also my best friend. Do you not think this is hard on me? I know it's extremely difficult for you, but you have friends in the same boat as you. You know I'm willing to help you whenever, and the others are as well. We can't help you, however, if you don't tell us when it's bothering you," I said putting my hand on his shoulder.
Void Steve said as he stared into the water. I looked down at the water as well.
I let out a small sigh. I didn't really know what to do. Finally, I came up with an idea.
I used my water abilities to manipulate the water. I used my psychic abilities to project an image on the water. Void Steve flinched and looked over to me. I have him a smile.
"You see two parts to yourself. You and Galaxy Steve. Yes, you share the same abilities. Yes, you share the same energy. Yes, you USED TO share the same body. Void Steve, you are not Galaxy Steve. You two are two separate people-uh-Steve's," I said before changing the image back to normal. "Who do you see on the water?"

Void Steve looked into the water. His head moved as he examined the image in the water.
he mumbled finally. I flinched a little bit.
"A-a what?! You are not a mistake! Look at me," I demanded. Void Steve looked at me with sad eyes. I couldn't help but feel bad for him. "Everything/one has a purpose to live. Galaxy Steve was meant to... well... die. For some reason, and we may not know yet, you were meant to live. That's why you two separated. It's why you two have done what you've done. Everything has a reason. You being here, is not a mistake. I hate to admit it as much as you do, but we have to move on from this. It was meant to be."
Tears began to stream down Void Steve's face. His arms wrapped themselves around me as his head buried itself into my neck. He began to sob on me, and I was completely fine with it.
We just sat there letting the cool wind blow past us as Void Steve let all of his emotions out. I felt really bad for him. I know this has to be extremely difficult for him. He just lost half of himself.
Finally, after a few minutes of Void Steve venting, he was able to calm down. He backed away from me, but looked up to me with a small, tear-filled smile. The moonlight hit his face just right to let his scar shine.
It's never happened before, so I don't know what happened. All I know, was that memories of when I lost myself to Ty and my evil counterpart basically controlled me. Everything just became a rushing mess.
I was hearing what I was saying and thinking the time. I could see everything bad I did. Killing those workers. Down-casting my friends. ...Scarring Void Steve...
Void Steve yelled in a panic. I was able to snap out of my thoughts as he yelled that time. I shook my head and looked up to him.
I could tell my eyes were wide, and probably filled with fear. Void Steve was really worried right now.
Void Steve demanded. I looked down to the ground, but it didn't make him stop begging me for answers.
"I-I..." I stuttered.
I didn't really know what to say. I couldn't exactly describe what I was feeling.
"I don't... really know... I don't know what I'm feeling. I just... saw your scar, and I freaked out..." I said.
Void Steve asked as he felt the area where his scar was.
"I... I don't know. I guess it's just... because I'm the one who gave it to you. I just... freaked..." I mumbled.
Void Steve mumbled.
"OKAY LOVEBIRDS!" Tyler exclaimed. We flinched and looked towards the demon hybrid.
"Wh-why does everyone assume we're dating?" I stuttered. Ty laughed.
"Because, you two seem like you're dating. You comfort each other in that manner, you treat each other like you life depends on it. You two just seem... IN LOVE!" Ty exclaimed. Void Steve growled.

Void Steve grumbled. Ty flinched a little at the harshness in his tone.
"Okay, okay. I get it. You two, just friends," Ty said. Suddenly, a frown formed on his face. "You two might wanna come back. Alex and Mary... they found a way home..."
"WA!" Void Steve and I yelled together. He nodded his head.
Void Steve and I got up and ran past Ty. I could hear him sigh from behind us. Next thing I knew, he was flying next to us. Dang! He can fly fast.
We ended up back at where Galaxy Steve's grave was. By the way, we placed him near our house. We wanted to be able to visit him any time we pleased, so we wanted him close.
"Alex! Mary! Did I hear right?!" I asked in a panic. They looked to us with the biggest smile on their faces.
"Yeah!" Mary yelled happily.
"It will take some effort, but I found two spells I can combine to-" Alex began before I cut him off.
"You're leaving us?" I asked. Their smiles faltered. Suddenly, they looked upset.
"Uh... well... yeah. We have a way home; we should take it..." Mary mumbled. I should be happy... but I can only find it in myself to be angry.
"After everything?! Rainbow Steve left us, Galaxy Steve left us, and now, you're leaving us too!" I yelled.
"Now, Sabre. Calm down," Jake said as his hand placed itself on my shoulder. I shoved him off.
"Calm down?! CALM DOWN?! How can I be calm?! Everyone is leaving us! Void Steve is the only Steve we really know if still alive right now. These two have been with us for so long now. Suddenly, they have a way back home right after Galaxy Steve dies! How can anyone possibly be calm about this!" I said angrily. Everyone fell silent. I could hear my labored breathing. Tears threatened to fall from the corners of my eyes. "Just like every other time..."
Void Steve questioned before I finished what I was trying to say.
"EVERYONE ALWAYS LEAVES! Is was like this with the Steve's! Now, I know there are more people out there that aren't Steve's, and now they are leaving me too?! Even before I met the Steve's! EVERYONE. ALWAYS. LEAVES. ME!" I yelled.
"SABRE! The markings are back! You need to calm down! You can't let your powers take over!" Jake yelled frantically.
"FINE! Let the markings be there! I'm more than capable of controlling my abilities! I don't need anyone to-" Void Steve cut me off.
Void Steve said before I passed out.
Everyone stood in silence. The tense atmosphere wasn't leaving anytime soon, unfortunately. We all stared at the passed out Sabre as Void Steve laid him down on the ground.
"What did you do?" I asked Void Steve. He looked over to me.
Void Steve said before looking up to Alex and Mary. They looked extremely upset.
He looked around to everyone. A small but pathetic smile formed on his face.
Void Steve said as some tears forced their way out from his eyes. He still kept smiling though.
"It just shows how much you're changing," I said with a smile.
"You know, when we first meet you, you were still pretty tense. We could tell you were still "evil" at the time as well. You got mad over little things. You still do, but not like you use to," Mary commented with a huge smile.
"Yeah... she's right..." Sabre mumbled. We all flinched and looked at him. None of us noticed he was sitting upright, and listening to everything we said just now.
Void Steve said in shock. Sabre smiles weakly.
"Like you said... just enough time to call me down..." he said. He looked back to Alex and Mary with a frown. "I'm really sorry for the way I acted. I'm happy for you, really. I am. I guess I was just being extremely selfish when I heard that..."
"I can understand," Alex said.
"Selfishness is a normal human thing..." Ty said with a slight shrug.
"Please, Sabre. You know why-" Mary said with tears in her eyes.
"Yes, I do know. Just... before you go, I have one request," Sabre said while standing back up.
"Hm?" Alex hummed. Sabre pointed to Mary. Her covered eye specifically.
"Why do you cover your other eye?" Sabre asked. Mary flinched.
"Um... well, you see... it's just abnormal is all," she said quietly. Everyone stood silent for a moment.
"Can we see? You know we won't judge!" I said happily. She looked at us and blinked a few times.
Slowly, she reached up to her eyepatch. Her hand hovered there for a moment. She wasn't too sure about showing us. I gave her a reassuring smile, to let her know it was going to be fine. She smiled before removing the eyepatch from over her eye.
She moved her hair slightly. We all stared in complete shock. She instantly began to worry.
"You don't like it... do you?" she said as she began to cover it back up. Sabre stopped her and began to laugh.
"You do know that my eyes are two different colors as well, right?" Sabre laughed as he removed his blindfold. His yellow and red eyes stared at her as she began to laugh.
Mary hid her white eye under that eyepatch. It was different seeing her without her eyepatch, but her eyes were quite remarkable.

Dark Lands: The Exile and the Prince
A short time has passed since the siege on Ruined Home has been lifted and as the survivors of the battered encampment slowly begin to rebuild their new home, Aurelius has returned from a failed troll hunt. Yet despite the battered prince’s failures, he has set into motion a series of events that will forever change his life. Meanwhile, Iskra has found herself at the helm of a far more favorable position and begins to forge a path that will lead her towards the first steps of a long road of revenge. Author’s Note: This is the direct sequel to the first Dark Lands story and as time goes on I will update the synopsis to help bring further detail about the story. For now however, I hope you all enjoy what is about to be written. Eight Years Arc: Eight Years have passed since Aurelius and Iskra have first met one another, and a lot has changed since then. The vast majority of Aurelius’ family has been slaughtered by the hands of none other than his oldest brother, a man that the golden haired prince had spent the past several years to hunt down and kill all in the name of vengeance. Upon his return, the kin-slaying prince has found that some things have changed during his absence. Iskra, his first wife and love of his life, has proclaimed that she no longer cares about the events that have been unfolding in her former homeland for the last several years and states that she is solely focused on raising her children. Yet it is through learning that the High Elves have taken a keen interest in the once magically-absent lands of Ranislava that Aurelius decides that action must be taken and thus he journeys south to learn more about what his distant kin are up to in such a backwater region of the world. Who he will meet and what he will do will turn the tides of fate, but in whose favor is something that only the Gods will know. (The Eight Years arc is something that was designed to be written in a way where people don't have to feel the need to go back to the very beginning of the Dark Lands story in order to know what is going on or who the characters are.)
