《The Alphas Secret Mate》Chapter Thirty Three:

Tate's POV
Morgan lived in an apartment near campus in the rogue territory, not too far from where Hadley had lived. The werewolves and witches came to an agreement years ago that as long as they didn't interfere or live on pack territory the wolves would leave them alone. That didn't stop everyone though on either end.
Devin looked on edge. She had put her hair up to only take it down multiple times. She kept fidgeting and had been unusually quiet on our way over to Morgan's apartment.
"Would you just relax, you are putting my wolf on edge," I said.
"You know how I feel about witches. How do we know if we can even trust her," she said.
"We can't but she's our best bet of finding Hadley".
"Jillian will find her. Give her a chance," Devin pleaded.
It wasn't that I didn't trust Jillian. I had made her my tracker for a reason. Jillian had a way of sneaking around without being noticed. Sometimes I thought she had more fox than wolf. Even if she did get caught up she was so cunning and charming she could almost always talk her way out of it. Most packs left tracking to male warriors. But there was no denying that Jillian was the best.
I gave Devin a knowing look.
"You think Nolan's working with a witch?"
"I do. That night Hadley was found and attacked at her house. It was on a witch's moon. Nolan had no idea who she was or where she was only that it existed. I suspected for a while he used a witch to locate her," I explained. It wouldn't have been the first time Nolan had used a witch to his advantage. "Morgan is our best chance to give us the information we need to make a plan," I said.
'Let's just get this over with," Devin sighed.
We made our way into the old brick building. West had told us that Morgan lived on the top floor, and what room was hers. The place was practically falling apart. It smelt like old books and murky water. The elevator creaked with every floor it climbed in protest. Devin and I silently made our way to Morgan's door. Devin banged on the door twice with her fist. Before she could do it a third time the door swung open.

"Devin." Morgan glared "Tate. What brings the Alpha of Atlas to my humble abode,".
Morgan had short strawberry blonde hair that fell to her collar bone. Her eyes were a soft hazle. Her nose was scattered with small freckles. Everything about her face was soft. Deceiving. It was a total contradiction to the all black ensemble she was doting. Despite her soft warm features there was that lingering wickedness that danced in her eyes. Drawing you into her clutches.
"Can we come in... please," I asked. Morgan's hand was holding onto the door frame taking her time assessing. She removed her hand and nodded signaling us into her apartment.
It was exactly as I remembered it from the first time I had been here as a teenager. Plants scattered the entire room. Rugs of every color covered the decaying wood floors. Velvet furniture filled the apartment.
"It hasn't changed much since the last time you were here," Morgan said sitting on a mustard yellow velvet chair, swinging her legs over one of its arms. Devin and I sat on a loveseat.
"It's been awhile," I said, giving her a small smile.
"We used to have so much fun the three of us back then. You, me, and West," Morgan smirked. "Sorry you didn't get to join us Devin,".
Devin was doing her best to keep her wolf's temper in check. Her hands gripped the fabric of the cushion. She strained her face to give Morgan a small smile.
"You must really want something if Devin is holding back so much. Normally by now she would have at least called me some swear word," Morgan said playing with a string that was coming off of the chair.
"Don't tempt me," Devin flashed her teeth at Morgan.
I cut Devin off in the hopes of distracting the impending fight that was moments from breaking out. "We came here to ask you for a favour,".
"I'm assuming this is a magical favor?" Morgan said eyeing me.
"A member of my pack was taken by Nolan," I started to explain.
"Fenris Moon Alpha. I've heard of him," Morgan said swinging her legs off of the arm of the chair. Her hands on her knees as she leaned forward, intrigued.

"I believe that he's had the help of one of your kind to find her and take her," I said.
"Why would Nolan be interested in her?" she asked.
"She is the newly discovered daughter of the former alpha of Blood Bane. Nolan wants to use her and claim her as his mate. Then claim Blood Bane, maybe Atlas as well".
Morgan watched me curiously and her eyes sparked. "She's your mate".
"She-"
"It wasn't a question," Morgan said, cutting me off. "I can use you, to locate her. Through your bond".
"How exactly does that work," Devin said lightly glaring at Morgan.
"Come here," Morgan said, gesturing me forward. I obliged moving closer to her chair until I was standing in front of her.
"On your knees Alpha".
I turned my head giving her a quizzical look. She tapped her fingers on the chair impatiently. I lowered myself onto my knees before her. She took those small hands and placed them on either side of my head so that her thumbs were resting on my temples. I stared into those dancing hazel eyes as she stared into mine. Her eyes turned from Hazel to white as she murmured a chant. My body tightened as I let her through my mind.
"She's in a cabin. There's a lot of smoke, it's hard to see through".
"Can you be a little more specific?" Devin asked.
"Woods filled with pine, a small garden. So much smoke though," Morgan's white eyes were puzzled as she scanned through whatever she was seeing. We sat there a few minutes more. I impatiently waited for what Morgan had to say. Her eyes returned to normal and she sat back in her chair. Her breathing was ragged. The spell had taken a lot out of her. I stood back up slowly and made my way back next to Devin.
"He's definitely getting the help of a witch. Which one though I'm not sure. That's why I wasn't able to get a clear read on where she is. He definitely is using a shield spell to contain her".
"How do we break that?" I asked.
"Her blood will have to be spilled. Your mates. Not a lot but enough to lay before the shield. That will open it up," Morgan explained. My blood ran cold at the thought.
"She'll need to slice her palm and lay the blood before her soaking the earth. Where the blood is laid will act as a door. It will be the only place she can cross through. Shields are made with the blood of who's being blocked, it's the only way to undo them".
"Thank you Morgan. I appreciate your help," I said.
"Is there a cost for this... help," Devin asked leaning back and crossing her arms.
"Not this time. I owed Tate a favour so this makes my debt paid. If Nolan does have the help of a witch though you need to be careful. Just consider that he may be using her for more than just the shield," Morgan said.
Devin and I stood up and made our way to the door.
"Say hi to West for me. Make sure he remembers that little promise I made," Morgan said with a small wicked grin.
I could see Devin visibly shiver at the gentle threat Morgan made. We made our way back out of the building before Devin seemed able to fully breathe again.
"As much as I hate her, she was helpful. You're lucky you guys were friends when you were younger. Any other witch would have asked for a lot just for that information".
"What promise did she make West?" I asked Devin.
"That if she ever saw him again she would curse him so that he would forever be a small yorkie and become her newest pet".
"Can she even do that?" I asked.
"You didn't notice the bird in the corner?" Devin said, raising her eyebrows at me.
Before I had a chance to fully process that disturbing information my phone went off. I answered the call from Scott.
"Jillian's back. We're pretty sure we found her" he said.
"We'll head back right away. We just finished up with Morgan," I said.
"Ok. Hurry back. Somethings off with Jillian".
