《The Alphas Secret Mate》Chapter Fifty One:

Hadley's POV

A few hours later Tate and I finally made ourselves decent and present before our pack. Tate had run off to check in with the pack warriors. Double checking on our borders. We had had too many unwanted guests lately just able to cross over like it was nothing. Jillian was off on a tracking mission. Something to do with Cassia Tate briefly had mentioned this morning before running off. Devin was with Scott. Which left West to train me this afternoon.

"For someone who spent all day in bed you look exhausted," West knowingly laughed as he lunged at me. We had already been sparring for an hour. West had made me do hill sprints and my whole body was protesting.

I stuck my tongue out at him, which earned me a laugh.

"Where's Morgan?" I asked between strikes and doges.

"She's meeting up with another one of her witchy friends today. Something about a book. She'll be back later though".

"How's that whole thing going?" I asked teasingly.

"You heard how that ended last time. I am not going down that dark path again," West laughed before adding. "I've sworn off women for the time".

I dropped my hands letting the exaggerated shock fill my face. "West Briar swearing off of women!? Who are you even?" my voice dripped in sarcasm.

"Ha-Ha. Very funny Hadley. I'm serious though. With Jillian mated to Braxton that's over. Morgan is out. I may as well just wait for my mate at this point. The only other women in the pack want to use me because they think it will get them ahead," West explained.

"Sorry," I said sincerely. "Is it rough? Seeing Jillian with Braxton?" I asked. It hadn't been too long ago that Devin and I had walked in on them in the kitchen the night Hale had attacked. Gods that seemed like a lifetime ago.

"What? No. Not at all. Jillian and I were more of a habit than anything. It was easy but it was never really anything more than friendship," West said before knocking me to the ground. I grunted as my back hit the earth. West helped me up before moving into position again.

"Well lets hope you find your mate soon because I honestly don't know how long you'll be able to hold out," I winked. West was only caught off guard for a moment. That was all I needed though. I used his weight against him, pinning him to the ground. I didn't shy away from giving him a victorious grin before we started laughing.

"Don't act so smug I have been at this all day. I'm tired," West pouted. But he couldn't hide the smirk growing on his lips.

"We just started a few hours ago," I laughed, punching him in the shoulder.

"Some of us were up at a reasonable time!" West laughed. "I've been training pack warriors all morning. This is like my sixtieth spar".

"You train the other warriors?" I asked. West was gone a lot of mornings but I hadn't ever really seen it.

"Yes, every morning at sunrise when I'm not occupied with you I go help train with the warriors. I'm the beta Hadley. It's part of my job for this pack. Plus it helps that I am just so good at fighting," He winked.

I jokingly rolled my eyes. "I want to come one morning. I'm the Luna of the pack now," I said. Not really asking.

"Tomorrow then. You can definitely hold your own amongst them. It will be good for them to see you and train with you," West said.

"So you think it's a good idea?" I asked.

"It's brilliant. The pack is loyal to you as their Luna. But if they get to know you. Care for you. That kind of loyalty isn't just given it is earned," West said thoughtfully.

"I promise to be up at a reasonable time for tomorrow then".

"Let's go get some lunch. I'm starving," West said holding his stomach as if to further prove his point.

"Alright. Alright. Let's get the beta some food," I teased ruffling West's blonde hair.

"I think just for that you should make me lunch," West said.

"Oh should I now?" I laughed.

"It would definitely earn my loyalty," West smiled playfully.

"Ha- I already have your loyalty. But seeing as I am in such a good mood. You got yourself a deal".

We made our way into the kitchen where I set to work on making lunch for West and I. West had grabbed a drink from the fridge and was lounging at the table with his feet up. Devin and Scott came into the room setting up at the table. Scott's whole persona seemed to relax when he was around Devin. He just looked less tense and his face had a slight curve on his lips.

"Any chance you'll also make us lunch?" Devin said batting her eyelashes at me. I rolled my eyes and laughed. I pulled out two extra plates and kept cooking.

"Thannnkkkkk youuuu," Devin sang.

"Where have you guys been all morning?" West asked.

"We went for a run that may or may not have involved going into the rogue territory," Scott said.

"You went to rogue territory? Does Tate know?" I asked. Scott opened his mouth to answer but Devin beat him to it.

"He knows now. It was my idea. Rogues are the best to get information from on other packs. We figured if we could talk to one we may have an idea what the hell is going on with Jade and Fenris Moon Pack," Devin explained.

"Did you find anything out?" West asked.

"Kind of. You never know with rogues that's the bad part about the information," Scott said. His eyebrows furrowed.

"This one seemed highly motivated to be honest Scott," Devin said.

"Apparently Cassia is the main face of the pack for now. Jade barely makes an appearance, but they all know every order from Cassia comes from her. They're under strict rules and curfew. The rogue mentioned how the border pack warriors have been ordered to kill any wolf that tries to leave without direct permission from Jade," Scott said.

"What does Jade even want to do with the pack? She's a witch it makes no sense," I said contemplating as I continued to cook.

"The rogue had thoughts on that too," Devin said quietly, her eyes staring at Scott whose color had drained ever so slightly from his face.

"Devin, we don't know if that's even true," Scott said his voice cold and flat.

"Hadley is the Luna she deserves all the information," Devin said. I could tell by their faces they were arguing over it through the mind link. Scott sighed and I instantly knew Devin had won.

"The rogue wasn't specific but it's no secret that Jade feels witches are far superior to wolves. The rogue claims that Jade is trying to remove all the Alpha's and turn the wolves into her own personal army for control. Instead of coexisting we'd be enslaved to her will," Scott said. The look in his eyes told me he believed the rogue.

"Is she even strong enough to do that?" I asked quietly.

"There's no way she has that much power but Jade is manipulative. There's no telling where the line is. Or what she will do to grab, and hold onto power" Devin said.

"The Alpha's could easily overpower her," West said. I could see the anger burning in his eyes.

"Maybe together but that's the thing. Our packs are so separated. Jade can just off them one by one. She already removed Nolan. It's only a matter of time before she sets her sights on the next pack," Scott said to West.

"Even with the Alphas gone though she wouldn't be able to control that many wolves. It would be next to impossible," West said.

"We need to figure out how she plans to control the wolves," I said.

"How do you suppose we do that? Just march into Fenris Moon Pack and go, hey guys whats up? Jade around? I'd love to ask her a few questions on her master plan," West said sarcastically. I glared at him. I knew his anger wasn't meant for me despite it being directed at me. West was worried. We all were.

"No," I said.

"Then what?" he retorted.

"I'm going to go to the source. I think it's time Cassia made a visit to Atlas Pack".
