《Flame & Frost | Rise of the Guardians Fanfiction》The Only Choice We Have

After confirming that Jamie was fully asleep, I went directly to Tooth's. I really wanted to know why this Megan gave the dagger woodcarving to Jamie. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with giving a woodcarving to someone completely innocent; But what gets me going is - Why a dagger?

As I arrived the Tooth fairies led me to Tooth's main room, where she can easily control the situations and stuff. They'd made me walk into an extravagant room with diamonds on the wall, feather potraits and other beautiful and frilly things.

"What about the Southern continents? No? Then go! You- There's this kid, her name's Bailey- Yes, yes go find her! Oh how will I get peace, come on fairies, do your job!" I heard Tooth order in the middle of the room. As soon as she saw me her mouth was agape. She zapped to me, three other Tooth fairies on her flanks.

"Is everything okay? Is Jade?!" She blabbered worriedly. I waved her off and smiled. "Everything's fine. I just want to ask you a favor." She softened and nodded in understanding. "Of course,"

"Do you know any kid, her name is Megan,"

"Jack, there are millions of Megans-" I raised a hand to stop her.

"She's in Burgess,"

Tooth nodded. "Thats a filter. I think we have her memory box... Burgess is quite small to us, that is."

I smiled in appreciation as Tooth ordered her fairies to fetch the memory box. A few minutes later a golden cylinder was retrieved.

Tooth handed it to me. I thanked her and flipped it over, examining it. I brushed the cylinder open like the last time I opened a memory box.

In a blink of an eye sparkles dotted my sight and showed Megan's memory. It was dull and dark, the background was mostly an old house. The memory displayed a girl around the age of 8 and a boy, carving wood. The boy finished his carving, to which he showed to his sister. I recognised the dagger-like carving immediately; It was the one Jamie had.

The girl in the memory giggled appreciatively and hugged her brother. The next second a new memory was displayed. The boy was laid weakly on a hospital bed, bandages wrapped around his head with blood stains on it. The girl was crying beside his bed, sobbing as the machine showed the decreasing breath pace of her brother. The machine beeped, and the green line on the mini television went completely straight. The girl cried harder and shook her brother, yet he showed no response or movement.

The next memory showed the girl a little bit older, sitted in a car. The car halted in front of a house, and she climbed down reluctantly. The next day she went to school, and she met the playful side of Jamie. Her brother's face flashed for a second and that moment too, she made eye contact with him.

I was dragged out of the memory with a gasp.

Jamie reminded her of her brother.

So thats why. I'm a genius.

Tooth smiled at me and held out her hand to take the cylinder. I was grateful she didn't question my actions of reading Megan's memory, I'd be more comfortable in keeping this between me and Jamie only.

"She had a rough childhood," She noted as I handed her the memory box. She instructed the fairy beside her, giving the memory box to the fairy's tiny hand; To which it flew away, returning the golden cylinder to where it belonged.

Suddenly, the Palace went frantic. Tooth stirred, facing every chattering fairies that surrounded her instantly. Tooth managed to calm the situation by clapping her hands twice. The fairies went silent, but judging by their reaction - Biting their lips, their nails and clutching at their chests - I can tell that every one of them wanted to burst it all to their leader, all at the same time. Tooth leaned onto a fairy, then she quickly caught up with what the fairy was saying.

She gasped and ordered the fairies inside the room, yelling.

"Everyone! Secure the memory lanes! Stop every progress! Head to Santa's workshop, five in five! Go go!" She then took my hand and pushed me to the entrance. I looked at her questioningly.

"What's wrong?" I said over the noise the fairies were making. Tooth bit her pink lip and held my shoulder tightly. "North's attacked. We have to go and help," She pushed me further to the open entrance. And flied to the edge. "Are you coming?" She said worriedly as I didn't move for a deliberate moment. I took a deep breath and waited for the wind.

"Go first," I reassured. Tooth shook her head frantically and grabbed my hand, tugging it. "I'm not coming without you. Pitch's created a bigger army." I waved her off. "I'll be fine," She glared at me.

"What about me?" She crossed her arms to her chest, her colorful wings fluttered faster than usual. "You're scared?" I chuckled, leaning onto my staff. "How could you be so casual about this? I need backup! Jade's in there, remember?" She threw her hands up in the air. I froze.

"Wind's coming," She said nervously, her body went slightly to the right because of the wind. I positioned myself and leant forward. Just as the gust of wind passed us I picked it up easily, spreading my arms to balance myself. I flied forwards, going to the familiar direction to North's workshop. Tooth was flying beside me, her sight was pinned to the surroundings infront of us.

The workshop came into my sight, but it was darker than the last time I saw it. Shadows were all around, dark clouds and lightning positioned above it. Some of the yetis and giant eggs were fighting each other's opponent outside of the workshop, at the snowy clearing. Me and Tooth exchanged knowing glances as gushes of water spinning around and knocking the pitch black enemies one by one. That bastard Aqua.

Dirt and earth was maneuvering too; Shaping into giant fists and hammers, pinning down every opponent it could find. I found this rather amusing, Ben conjured the dirt into various shapes; A giant hand, a book, a shoe, a horse, and a lot more.

"We could put up a bigger fight with Jade," Tooth charged towards the dark soldier she first encountered as we got near, punching the shadows away forcefully. I watched in awe as she punched another shadow, graceful. Who knew a frilly fairy could be such dangerous?

I didn't fight, I mostly dodged the attacks that the shadow army shot me. My only reaction after one fired me attacks was shooting frost back to them, and flying into North's workshop.

My goal was nothing but to get to Jade's room before its too late. And by 'too late' I mean two things - She's taken by Pitch ; Or either she dies -

I zapped towards open entrance dodging at attacks and enemies as fast as I could. Yetis were blocking the entrance, fighting their own opponents.

Oh for gosh sakes why the entrance?!

I prepared myself, slendering my body so that I could fit in between the gap the yetis are making. With one swift move I passed them, landing on the balls of my feet.

I sprinted towards the elevator, which was the only thing enemy-free, thankfully. I literally punched the button as soon as I was inside the antique elevator. The lever was too slow for my liking, I tapped my staff on the metal ground impatiently.

The longer I stared at the floor I wanted to go to, the more irritated I became. The metal doors open with a squeak and I rushed across the familiar hallway instantly, accidentally grazing my left shoulder against the metal frame. It felt painful, but it was nothing to stop me from moving.

I reached my destination, pushing the door open forcefully. My body slammed agaisnt the door as I repeatedly pulled the door forward and backwards, but it still wont budge.

Locked.

I grunted as my staff connected to the door knob, frosts trailing across the sphere and spreaded to the back of the door. Taking a deep breath, I disconnected my staff's contact with the door and kicked it open with all the force I had in my body. The door flew open and I rushed inside.

My sight connected with the flying stool, flying towards me. I dodged it with a gasp, and the stool shattered to pieces as it made contact with the wall behind me.

"Jack I'm sorry! Oh god I thought it was Pitch!" Breeze apologized instantly. Turns out she was the one who made the stool fly towards my face. My precious, icy face.

I was about to say something as Breeze went up to me and dragged me towards Jade, placing my hand on Jade's forehead. I stared at my hand confusedly.

It felt strangely... normal temperatured.

"Oh no," I exclaimed as realization hit me. She was supposed to be warm, not cold.

Breeze shuffled nervously infront of me as my hand still hovered on Jade's forehead.

"We need to burn her, like, now."

"Its a disaster out there, we wouldn't make it out easily," I said in exasperation. I saw Breeze clench her teeth and facepalmed herself. "We have no other choice," She pointed out shakily.
