Jack POV
I notice Jade tense and took yet another step forward. So brave. I could tell Aqua was pleased with Jade's movement; A small and almost unnoticeable bob of his head, with a small smile brace his feautures.
"Jack, she doesn't love you," The fake conclusion made me tense up, my fingers grasp tighter on my staff that I've never lost contact of. "Prick." I cursed under my breath.
"Look at how she looks at you; Have she ever told you why she loves you? I don't think so."
My breathing became heavier, a sign that I'm losing my temper. Which is not a very good thing.
Jade spun her whole body towards me, her face was masked with horror and worry as she realised my pressure. She shook her head frantically as I glared at her for no specific reason. I'm a bit rude, really.
"Jack, you and I know that isn't true," She begged as I didn't remove the glare mask. I shook my head in disbelief. It could be true...
"You can observe right now; She's taking a step away from you, and she's moving to me, we all could see that." He smiled.
"Screw you!" Jade didn't take me by surprise, she'd already said that line before, to me, even. Aqua amusingly smiled, pouring oil to the fire.
"What do you want from him?" Jade grit her teeth, her hands to her side, curling to a fist. I stayed silent, waiting for the fire to lessen. But it didn't as Aqua showered us with soft sprinkles or water. I heard sizzling as the water that hit Jade's skin evaporate; Whilst the water that hit mine turned into soft speckles of ice.
"Show off," I muttered under my breath as Aqua showered another round of water to us. I could see Jade getting pissed, she crossed her arms and tilted her head to the right in annoyance.
"Thats unnecessary." Jade spat angrily as Aqua raised his hand to shower us again. "Geez, Jade. Why so serious? You used to like it when I do that to you."
"Not anymore,"
"Why? Is it because of this stupid Guardian here?" Aqua jerked his head to my direction. I rolled my eyes at his remark. I know where ny level is. At least I don't claim some person that isn't mine. I foughted with myself to not say that out loud, I knew its going to get worse if I say so.
"Aqua, behave." Suddenly Breeze appeared behind him, Ben gripped Aqua's shoulder and jerking him back. Aqua shook Ben's shoulders roughly, where Ben replied with a scowl. Jade retreated to me as Breeze gave her a small nod.

"What, do you think this is over?" Aqua interfered as me and Ben were about to exchange nods. I turned my attention back to him, an eyebrow raised up in contempt.
Oh for crap's sake, whatever in the hell does this liquid want from me?
"What's your problem?" I spat, taking step by step towards him, swinging my staff. Jade warned me with an icy tony of my name and a grip on my vacant wrist.
"I said I wanted to finish what I've started."
"Go for it."
From the corners of my eye I saw Breeze gave signal to Jade to grip me tighter, and the pressure on my wrist got firmer.
Ben pulled Aqua away cautiously, glaring at him when he refused to move.
"He's not your fight, Aqua. He's our ally." I heard Ben say to him to which he responded with an evil smirk at my direction. "I never cared."
As soon as he ended saying that he pushed Ben away and sprinted to me.
Jade grunted to keep me from sprinting back to him, a menacing growl rising up my throat. Instead of crashing to me, Aqua's body clashed with a fireball. He stumbled backwards with the effect, groaning.
"Why didn't it hurt, Jadey? Because you love me so much?" He laughed breathlessly after regaininh his balance.
Apparently I lost my temper and fired ice towards him, half of his hands were now perfectly frozen. His mouth was agape as he tried shaking the ice off, unsuccessfully.
"That wasn't meant to hurt. It was meant to keep you away." Jade concluded, taking my hand once more. I shook her hand of pretty easily as the grip wasn't as tight.
Ben and Breeze ran up to inbetween me and Aqua, a barrier to seperate raging ice and water.
"Please stop," Breeze begged and held up both of her hands to either of us, palms up. Ben eyed me cautiously when my heartbeat sped up in furiosity.
Ben mouthed a warning to Jade; a warning not to do or say anything. My sight dropped down to the kneeling Aqua, still couldn't take the ice off.
Ben bobbed his head in a quick nod to Jade behind me. A few seconds later a warm hand travelled from my palm, up to my upper arm. I knew it was Jade as her touch was slightly warmer than the others.
"Geez, guys, help me here!" I heard Aqua whine behind my line of sight, to which everyone except Aqua and myself responded with a hiss.
The hand on my upper arm moved to my cheek, slowly turning my line of sight to her. Jade's brown eyes were cautious as my frantic blue ones tried to adjust with her calmness. I could feel my blue orbs moving frantically, searching in the brown orbs for comfort.

I heard Breeze, Ben and Aqua argue quietly in the background which drives away my focus from her calmness. I became furious again.
Jade sensed that and took my hand, slowly placing it on her chest where I could hear the steady thumpa-thumpa rhythm of her beating heart. I felt the snowflake pendant under my hand, though its in the way it didn't stop me from feeling the mild pressure from her heart.
"Can you feel that? Could you copy my heart pace?" Jade whispered, locking my eyes to hers.
I hummed in agreement as I followed the beating rhythm, my heartbeat got slower and steadier. I sighed and closed my eyes as I managed to be calm again.
"Thank you." I whispered, my eyes still closed. Soft lips pressed to both of my cheeks, I opened my eyes slowly.
"Anytime, Jack. Anytime." Jade gave me a closed-mouthed smile, almost knocking the air out of my lungs.
Jade's expression soured as water hit her hair, followed with Breeze and Ben's gasp in disbelief. I growled under my breath, holding myself from losing it- again. This time, Jade was the one who made a move. "Give me way, please." She said icily to Breeze and Ben, who moved away from Aqua.
There stood Aqua, smirking and thinking it was me. His smirk faded as Jade got in his sight, mouthing an 'uh-oh'. Jade's hair- soaking wet. Jade's feeling- irritated and furious. My reaction- holding back my laugh and happiness with the trouble that yet coming to Aqua.
Well, he deserved it. Everyone knows Jade hate being soggy. Especially when it comes to her favourite part of her body- her hair.
"Um." Aqua rubbed the back of his neck as Jade reached him, totally face to face. I couldn't see Jade's expression, her backside was the only thing on my line of sight. Aqua's mouth was agape as Jade raised a fist.
"Whoa, whoa, chill, we're friends, aren't we?" He laughed nervously, signaling Breeze and Ben to control her.
"You. Got. Water. In. My. Hair." Jade emphasized furiously. I still find this rather attractive, actually.
In my opinion, if they can control Jade they would, but judging by their anxious and nervous expression, none of them can control her when she's furious. No. One.
"You tried attacking my boyfriend the last time I checked." She pointed out, leaving me shower with pride. Thats my girl. Jade swung her hand to Aqua's neck, choking him and pinning him to the ground.
"J-j-adee!" Aqua called out desperately as Jade tighten her choking action.
Her hair slowly dry up, hints of evaporated water travel in the air. Jade jerked his head upwards, forcing him to stand up. She dragged him by the neck, going to the river back in ease.
"Get lost, hobo." Jade forcefully throw Aqua into the river, where he was taken by the river waves. Since Breeze and Ben giggled, I decided to join in the joyous moment. I literally laughed my arse off.
Jade huffed and went up to Breeze and Ben, to where she nodded and embraced with Breeze. She gave Ben a smile and a nod, before the couple turn to me and waved. I returned the friendly gesture, the laughter is still evident on my face. Breeze and Ben took off just as Jade turned and walked up to me.
"My hair-" She huffed. I chuckled and smoothed some of her hair out, the dark threads obeyed my hands. "Thank you," She said and I took her hand.
"You did great," I said to her ear, trying to sound seductive. I hoped it worked though. My lips went to her jaw, leaving soft trails of touch on my way to her shoulder.
"Jack..." She whispered, voice barely coming out. I didn't lift my head to look at her, instead I continued kissing her neck. "Hm?"
"Don't do that..." She said breathlessly. "Hm? Do what?"
"Whatever it is that you're doing," Her voice barely came out on the last word. I chuckled agaisnt her skin and lifted my face to look at her.
"I didn't try to stop you, did I?" I pointed out about her actions to Aqua earlier as she pulled me into a warm hug- forcefully. Her head snuggled into my neck. She just hummed at my remark. I felt her warm lips kiss the crook of my neck.
In the heat of the moment I wondered; Is Aqua Deep going to come back?

The Simulacrum
"He who fights with harem tropes should see to it that he himself does not become a harem protagonist. And if you gaze for long into a narrative, the narrative gazes also into you." --- Friedrich Nietzsche (probably?) How would you react if one day you woke up inside an environment running on tropes and clichés? For allegedly average high-schooler Leonard Dunning, this question became quite relevant when one day he woke up in a pristine city on a strange island in the middle of the Atlantic, without any memories, surrounded by classmates who are barely more than characterless placeholders, and with a classic indecisive harem protagonist and his impossibly beautiful love interests for friends. That would be hard to deal with already, yet his investigation into the tropes governing the world, trying to avoid harem shenanigans, and his odd blend of outside-context knowledge, unique abilities, and a penchant for causing trouble wherever he goes ends up dragging him into the center of the action anyway. Disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek, slice of life romantic comedy, with occasional sprinkles of combat and mystery to spice things up. Please do not expect a straight up deconstruction beyond some in-universe meta-commentary by the characters.
