《Flame & Frost | Rise of the Guardians Fanfiction》I'm Not Sad

"Jack, where are we going?" I asked nervously, for the thousandth time.

He lead me to a neighbourhood, said he wanted me to meet his friend. In the nighttime. Rational.

"Trust me," Was all he said to me.

I tightened my grip on his hand as we lowered down in the backyard of a house.

There was an open window; That window was where Jack was going. I didn't move along with him as he walked to the window, I was shivering. He tugged me, but not looking at my direction.

"What are you doing? This is so wrong!" I screeched, and he laughed.

"This isn't funny!" I glared him.

"You're shaking. Are you scared?" He asked, amusement plastered on his face to seeing my fear.

"N-no..." I straightened my pose.

"Don't worry. I won't let the kid bite you." He smirked.

Gulping, I shuffled tighter to him as he moved back to the window again. My eyes wandered to the surroundings of the backyard. Shrubs, a bench, a big tree.

To me these ordinary things are scarier than a bloodied knife in a horror movie.

I've never been into a human's house...

I was never seen. Never knew existed. Thought it'd be wiser not to explore in their surroundings since it'd be completely pointless because noone could see me. Forever. Why try to fit in with humans when they can't even see you- let alone know you.

Jack hovered inside the open window, climbing in. I didn't follow. I just stood there.

"Come on." He urged, tugging my hand. I stood still. "Do you want me to pull you in through the window?"

"N-no... I just couldn't get in there." I insisted after the third tug which feels rougher and stronger than.before.

"Jade. We don't have forever." He warned. "We're immortal. We do have forever." I rebutted. "Humans need to sleep." He raised an eyebrow as he pointed that out.

"Then lets not disturb any of them!" I glanced at the night sky.

"My friends want to see you, and besides," He leant in and whispered. "I know you want to play the kids' toys."

"No!" I glared at him.

"Then come if you're brave," He challenged. As if on cue, thunder roared on the night sky.

I squeaked and clumsily scramble into the room through the window, resulting me faceplanting the floor.

Carpet with printed tiny cars? On my level of view I could see under the kid's bed, and some wooden blocks scattered on the floor seperately. And, of course, Jack's pale white bare feet.

"See, that wasn't such a bad thing, was it?" Jack's voice was humorous.

I groaned and raised my body to stand up.

"She's here?" An unfamiliar voice asked, I stopped moving, mid-standing. I'm in a crooked position, shell shocked.

"Yeah," Jack answered casually, tugging me up. I slowly straightened my body, my sight wandering to the boy standing beside his bed.

He looked blankly at my direction, like a blind person staring at an object he couldn't possibly see.

He opened his mouth to say something, no words came out, and closed it back again, still looking at me... No. Not looking at me. Looking at the window behind me.

"Is she really? I couldn't-" He stuttered, shaking his head, his eyes wandering around me.

"See me." I finished for him.

"Just... j-just believe." Jack rubbed the back of his neck, unsure of what to do. The boy looked more confused, eyebrows knitted together as he struggled to see... something - someone - he couldn't possibly see. "Jack, this is a bad idea," I frowned as the boy sighed, eyes narrowing at me. Well, he couldn't see me.

"No, he can do this," Jack answered, biting his lip as he studied the boy. He stopped his actions for a second and voiced a 'huh?' to Jack.

"Wasn't talking to you." Jack replied simply. The boy gave an 'oh' and speculatively raised an eyebrow at my direction.

"I'm sorry, I just couldn't..." He stammered.

"Its okay..." I whispered under my breath, to which I'm pretty sure Jack couldn't hear me. But he did.

"Don't be sad, Jade." Jack patted my back in a friendly manner.

"I'm not sad." I lied. I forced a fake smile to the boy, though he couldn't see it. The room was dimly lit with the weak light of the lamp on the ceiling. We were in silence, me and the boy facing each other, I could see him, but he can't see me.

"How long is it going to take for me to actually see her?" The boy asked Jack.

"You are going to see her - if you believe in her." Jack replied simply.

"How am I supposed to believe something that is not there?"

And thats when my heart shatters to a million pieces.

"Jamie-"

"She isn't real, right, Jack?" Jamie smirked at Jack, trying to make him confirm the statement that had been made.

"But I am real..." I croaked.

"I'm the one who made the fire ignite in your house's fireplace, kid, if not you'd be frozen by the end of Christmas morning." I hissed.

Jack pulled me back, and thats when I realised I was leaning closer to Jamie as I said my statement.

"Even if she is there, she's not that special, right, Jack?"

I death glared him.

"Jamie, stop, you're testing her temper." Jack warned, pulling me harder.

"SHE'S NOT REAL!" Jamie shouts right at my face.

"I'M STANDING RIGHT INFRONT OF YOU!" I yelled, on the verge of tears.

Silence.

"I'm infront of you..." I cried, weakly kneeling on the floor. "Infront of you..." I repeated, tears flowing down my cheeks.

Jack's cold arm wrapped around my waist, giving a shoulder to cry on.

"Jamie, what have you done?" Jack whispered above my head as I cry on his shoulder.

"I don't believe in her," I heard Jamie's faint voice.

"Can't you see what I'm holding in my arms right now?" Jack whispered.

"You're hugging air, Jack. That doesn't make sense."

And then there's a knock on the room door. Jack tensed, almost stopped breathing as my sobbing start to subside.

"Come in, Megan." I heard Jamie sigh and the bed made a noise, he's probably sitting on it.

"Jamie, I-" She froze. I sniffed, looking up at the girl named Megan.

She was wide eyed, her hand was still on the door handle, and she was looking at me.

At me.

We're making eye contact. For real.

"Megan?" Jack called out.

"Jack Frost... " She stuttered, her eyes moving from Jack, and back to me. Its almost like she can see me, she's looking at me, straight in the eyes.

She gasped and covered her mouth. She was shaking, eyes wide. Then the next words she whispered knocked the air out of my lungs.

"Jade Flame?"
