《Flame & Frost | Rise of the Guardians Fanfiction》Alaine Dahlia

I closed my ears as soon as I heard Jade yell yet another complaint. For the past few days, she'd been really unfriendly to everybody, she'd snap at literally everything -- or anyone -- that gets in her way.

Ever since she and Alaine met the other day, and when Aqua introduced Alaine as his mate, Jade didn't say another word but walk out of the room in a casual manner, like she has no care in the world when it comes to Alaine.

Speaking of Alaine, she's a nature elementor. She controls the growth of flowers, trees, grass, all the floral things. She'd told us all about her the other day. Where Jade had pissed Alaine off with her advanced hate.

Everyone just stared at her like she'd lost her mind when she'd yawned -- loud and on purpose -- as Alaine told things about herself.

"I can grow big, big trees! And they grow beautifully with my powers--"

"YAAAAAAWN."

"As I was saying--"

"DOUBLE YAAAAAAAWN."

"Oh for gosh sakes, fire moron, shut the fu--"

"TRIPLE YAAAAAAWN. Most boring story ever, motherfuc--"

Thats where I stopped Jade from cussing by making out with her in front of everyone in the room. I burnt my lips, Jade was on her hot mode all day long, until today, too. Never off. When I pulled away from the making out session, Jade gave me a death glare.

A glare so deadly I couldn't bear to have eye contact with her.

Then she excused herself sweetly and stormed out of the room. I've been told she was trapping herself inside her room since ages ago. North gave her a new room, by the way. He'd also gave rooms to Breeze, Ben, Aqua and Alaine. The silent hallway with rows of rooms were now not so silent.

On the right side of the hallway lived the boys -- Me, Ben and Aqua. Whilst the left side of the hallway belongs to the girls -- Jade, Breeze and Alaine. Our rooms were facing each other's mate, so Jade's room was across from mine and so on to the others.

I always hear music blasting from Ben's room, and I didn't need to turn on my own iPod to listen to some music, Ben's music is loud enough for the whole hallway vacants to hear. Aqua, Alaine, Breeze and myself's room is normal. Not too loud, not too silent.

Jade -- her room was the one in mute.

No music blasting, no sounds of book pages being flipped. Mute. Nothing. Air.

But when she's up for another complaint, that's where it goes wreaking havoc. The hallways would be shaken by her muffled voice of rage. Like now.

"I CAN'T FUCKING BELIEVE--" "GOD, SAVE ME!" "WHY HER? OUT OF ALL PEOPLE, WHY HER?!" "SHIT, I think I just broke my bedside lamp--" "Wait, is that a ladybug???" "Oh my God, its so cute and tiny--" "The fuck?--" "I just made a ladybug steak..." "FUCK. MY. LIFE." That's all Jade, people.

I sighed. When was the best time to talk to her? When she's half asleep. Jade gave me a key to her room for a reason and I use that to sneak into her room when I hear soft mumbling.

Have I told you that we can't sleep? No matter how tired we are, we can't sleep.

Except for Sandy's magic gold dust!

It puts us to sleep.

And recently Jade asked for 3 large bottles of them. I know it sounds like its not alot of dust but it is. A pinch would put us to sleep for a day. Imagine if we sprinkle a big bottle of the sleepy dust -- How long are we going to sleep? Who knows how long -- but its damn long.

Jade's using the dust to put herself to sleep when she needs a shut eye. But honestly, she can't stop being angry, even in her sleep.

So I've decided -- gulp -- that I should have a heart to heart talk with my girlfriend.

"You have a new message,"

I snapped out of my train of thoughts, reaching out to the bedside table for my iPhone. Unlocking the lock screen, looks like its a text from North!

"Dinner's ready!" - North

Without another word I slipped my phone to the front pocket of my jeans which I'd grown fond of and strode out of my room, locking it incase anyone wanted to find dark secrets of mine. As soon as I was out of the room, the other elementors were also infront of their doors, fiddling with each other's smartphones.

I gazed infront of me -- Jade's door -- no Jade, no sounds.

"Jack," Breeze walked up to me. "Hm?" I responded, my eyes not flicking away from the coral colored door.

"You need to get Jade out of that room, she hasn't been eating anything for 5 days now." She said worriedly.

"I know," I bit my lip. Ben, Aqua and Alaine joined us.

"And her loudness is killing me and my peace. I was doing yoga, she yells. I was doing a headstand, she yells. I was meditating, she yells, and I was reading a book, she throws something to the wall." She whispered to my ear, and when I shot her a raised eyebrow, she simply shrugged.

"Jade--" Aqua started, but Alaine cut him off.

"No need to worry about that brat. It'll do fine without living essentials." She said, flipping her caramel hair.

Thats it.

"What is wrong with you?" I snapped. "Because of you she hasn't gotten out of her room and now you're calling her a brat and imply her as an 'it'? Seriously, do you think you're better than her? Jade can burn you down in just a matter of seconds while you can't even get a grip on her for eternity."

"Jack--"

"You mark your place, Alaine. Your rank is no taller than Jade's. I'm a Guardian, and you know what she is to me, don't you? She's my mate. Plus, you can't look low on such a powerful elementor just like that." With a last death glare to the now frightened Alaine, I turned on my heels and went to Jade's room.

Using the key Jade gave me, I unlocked the door and turned the knob before stepping into Jade's room.

The room was coral in color. Not bright red. Her room's nice, very comfortable and tidy looking.

I spotted Jade sitting on her bed, legs crossed, eyes on me. I can't turn now. Silently, I went up to where she sat and joined her on the bed.

Thank god she isn't on her hot mode.

"Hello." She greeted me, smiling. There were dark circles under her eyes, and her lips were cracked and swollen. Her eyes were watery. I gave out a big sigh of relief and pulled her into my arms.

Her skin absorbed my coldness, and she turned cold with me. She slowly responded by wrapping her arms around my waist and hugging me tighter. Somehow I hear her sob and I felt coldness on my sweater. Is she crying?

I knew she was until she let out all her tears and cried her eyes out, sobbing. "I missed you," I mumbled, as I hugged her as my hands rubbed her back to calm her down. She cried harder.

She pulled away from me, sniffing and rubbing her now puffy eyes.

"Why are you crying?" I asked when she'd finally calmed down. She pursed her lips and sighed loudly, running a hand through her hair.

"I killed a bug. Made it a steak."

Silence.

"Are you being serious?" The corners of my mouth tugged up to reveal a smile, which I'm trying hide. Damn it, its not the best time to be jolly, Jack.

"Then why else would I cry?!" She raged.

"Fine, fine, okay! Calm down, woman!" I raised my hand in front of my chest, palms up to her in defense.

"I wouldn't ask you why would you cry over that, though. You've killed a lot of stuffs recently." I pulled up a smug grin at the sight of broken bedside lamp, half-burnt plastic chair, and ripped off books. There is more that's destroyed.

"I know. I've been pulling a tantrum." She admitted.

"Would you mind if I ask you to tell me, what's up with you and Alaine?"

I expected Jade to start off her story with, "So this bitch..." but instead she went like this:

"On the beggining days after I'd discovered the ability to control fire, I've gone on a quest to find a home. I woke up as Jade Flame in the burnt castle, by the way. I'd stumbled upon the meadow, and I thought it was a good place to build a home. So I checked if anyone owns it, and noone does. I'd start building my home at dawn. At the same place, and the same time, Alaine was there, also looking for a home. She'd come a few hours late since I claimed that meadow. We practically argued about who gets that place, and that argument turned into a fight. Me and her started to have a duel, where she slips vines around my neck and choke me, all of that stuff." Jade pulled a victorious grin. "I won. I realised that all I could just do to get her weak was burning every comeback she gives me."

I had laughed at that.

But then she frowned. "Out of all people-- why her though. I can't imagine living under the same roof with her."

"Its fate, Jade. At least now she won't bug you anymore." I shrugged. She raised an eyebrow at me.

"What do you mean?"

"Oh, nothing."

I drifted off, chuckling. I wonder what Alaine would do if she sees me after all that.
