There was another party bound to happen and it starts in a few minutes. I grab a red solo cup filled with spiked punch and head outside.

I wasn’t up for the loud music tonight, I pull out a cigarette and keep it between my teeth; unlit.

“It’s a metaphor.” I laugh to myself referring to Augustus Waters’ words.

I rubbed my palms together as I felt the cold air rushing up to me, remembering a pair of frozen hands to hold. Lacey’s.

 My thoughts had slowly drifted off to the name that repeatedly crossed my mind.

Lacey. I hadn’t really given a damn about her, well until last night. All I knew was that she was the girl my brother hooked up with a month ago. Is she feeling the cold night like I am? Oh wait she's so southern so she feels the cold. I chuckle. She’s been running through my mind after the whole fiasco last night.

“Hey.” Speaking of the devil.

“Hey.” I greet her back. She pulls the stick out of my mouth.

I was about to protest but she stops me, “uh oh, you shouldn’t waste a perfectly good joint.”

I chuckle at her remark, "Got that lighter of yours? I think I'm starting to have a special liking for it."

She smirks, "Of course, don’t forget to smile when you give It back eh?"

Yea, she’s just a girl, with a very special lighter.
