I walked into the school campus, people chattering loudly and blocking the halls as they stood in the way. I pushed my way through and past the slow walkers and towards my locker. I got there and saw my closest friend stood waiting for me with her boyfriend beside her. I rolled my eyes, not in the mood to talk to them at this time in the morning, but forced a smile anyway.

"Hey, Mads" She practically squealed.

"Hi" I mumbled, opening my locker door.

"We need to discuss vacation at lunch" Mia said.

"We have the best idea" Calum, her boyfriend, said.

"I'm assuming it involves partying and getting drunk every night?" I sarcastically questioned.

"No because drinking and driving is against the law"

"What the hell are you on about, Hood?"

"You'll find out later, little one" He patted the top of my head.

"I'm not short, I'm average height"

"Sure you are"

"Your girlfriend is shorter than me"

"Oh yeah" I rolled my eyes and grabbed the books I needed from my locker before shutting it.

"I'll see you guys at lunch"

"Watch where you put your shit, Carter" I looked up from the desk to see Luke, another member of our friendship group.

"Fuck off, Hemmings"

"Why aren't you in a delightful mood today?"

"I guess I just got out the wrong side of the bed this morning, didn't I?" I remarked.

"I really don't think that makes a difference to your mood"

"It's an expression, dumb fuck"

"I'm not dumb"

"I beg to differ"

"You always have to argue you, don't you?"

"Just with you"

"Bitch"

"Dick" He rolled his eyes before walking off to his seat in the back corner of the class.

"So, vacation plans. Who has one?" Mia asked as we all sat around the round table for lunch. The question was really only being directed at Michael, another friend of ours, and myself. We both glanced at one another before shrugging our shoulders.

"OK, Mia and I thought that we could-" Cal was cut off.

"Started the discussion without me?" We turned to see Luke.

"You're too slow getting food" Mia said as he sat next to her, which was across from me. He extended his legs making me have to move mine so his feet weren't pressing against my ankles.

"Anyway, we were thinking we should go on a road trip. We can all drive so we can all take it in turns and we can hire a bigger car so it's more comfortable" Calum finished.

"Where to?" I asked.

"Wherever the wind takes us"

"We need some kind of plan though. We can't end up in fucking Perth"

"Why not?" Mia asked.

"Mads, stop being so fucking organised and let these two figure it all out. It was their idea for a vacation and for the road trip" Luke said.

"But out"

"Fuck off"

"So we're all up for this?" Mia asked. We nodded. Her face lit up like a Christmas tree. "This'll be so fun. You guys can tell Ashton about it" The boys all nodded.

"Can we go in two cars?" Luke asked.

"Why?" I questioned.

"Because I'm not sure I can sit with you in a car for long periods of time" He smirked as he said it.

"You think this is going to be a joy ride for me? The last thing I want to do is spend half my summer trapped in a confined space with you"

"I can find a different type of joy ride for you if you want" He smirked again.

"Unless you want chocolate pudding on your head ruining your precious hair, I'd shut the fuck up"

"OK, I'm starting to regret bringing the both of you with us" Calum said.

"We're getting one car. Deal with one another" Mia said.

"Whatever" We chorused.

"Don't forget to ask your parents, kids" Calum joked, yet was also reminding us about a crucial factor.
