"Guys, we need to eat" Luke said.
"But it's so pretty here" Mia said.
"For once I agree with Luke" I told her.
"Why don't the bitch and I go find some food and you guys can stay here and look at the pretty trees?" Luke stood up and walked over to me. I nodded in agreement and so did everyone else. Luke held out his hand to help me off the ground. I eyed him warily. "I'm trying to be nice here" I took his hand and he started to pull me up before letting go.
"Fuck you, Hemmings" I stood up and brushed myself off. "You're paying for lunch now"
"Whatever" He said before heading towards the small town that was about a five minute walk.
"Don't kill each other" Ashton shouted as we walked away. The walk was completely silent until we got to a turning.
"It's this way" Luke said.
"No, it's this way"
"No, that's the way we came"
"Exactly, we want to go to the town we came through" He shut up. "You're an idiot"
"Just shut up. You give me a headache"
"Too busy thinking about me all the time?" I jokingly flipped my hair.
"You wish" He rolled his eyes but chuckled. We fell into silence again and soon ended up in the small town. There was a row of shops on each side of the road and that was it.
"There's a sandwich place there"
"Let's go there. Hopefully they have bacon"
"Hi, how can I help you today?" A cheery woman asked as soon as we stepped into the empty place.
"Do you do bacon sandwiches?" Luke asked.
"Yes, would you like one?"
"Um, six actually" Luke told her.
"Should we get more in case we get hungry later? It won't matter if the bacon's cold" I asked him.

"Good idea. On second thought can we have 12 please?"
"Is someone pregnant?" She glanced over at me.
"What? No. God, no" I replied.
"You guys seem a cute couple though"
"I, um, we're n-"
"Thank you" Luke said, throwing an arm around my shoulders. When the woman turned away I shot him a glare whilst he smirked. We waited another ten minutes before she gave us two brown paper bags, both with six sandwiches in.
"That'll be $25 please" Luke and I both paid half before thanking the woman and leaving.
"We should get ice cream" I told him.
"Ice cream before sandwiches? No thanks"
"Come on" I pulled him towards the shop.
"Maddie, you know we have limited money to last us this whole trip, right?"
"Good point. No ice cream then"
"I'll buy you ice cream later on to make up for it"
"Why are you being so nice?"
"We've got to spend two weeks together. It's not going to be enjoyable for either of us if we're yelling at each other"
"I can't promise that I won't yell at you but I'll try"
"Me too"
"Why'd you let that woman think we're a couple?"
"Didn't want it to become awkward. Plus she seemed nice" I shrugged yet nodded.
"OK, we need to get back to the others before I eat all of these sandwiches because this bacon smells so fucking good"
"You sure you're not pregnant? It does look like you've put some weight on"
"Watch it, Hemmings, or I'll snap your lanky body over my legs"
"Lanky? I have muscle"
"You are also skinny and a real life giant"
"This is going well"
"Fucking swimmingly"

The Last Watcher
The Abyss Watchers. Once fully dedicated to hunting the Abyss, now cursed to fight their own members forever. One day though, while they are attacked by a mysterious warrior, a single Abyss Watcher is suddenly pulled through a tear in reality, transported to a new world. A world with a strange thing called a leveling system. Current update schedule: Tuesday 10:00 PM NZT Idea I had of an Abyss Watcher from Dark Souls 3 being transported into a LitRPG world. You don't have to know any of the lore from Dark Souls to understand this, however if you want to know more about the lore just google it or something, I can't stop you But it's not like it will be very useful in this story as I plan to not be focused on Dark Souls Lore. As a side note for those reading this while it is ongoing, I will occasionally go back to previous chapters and sometimes add certain elements to the skills and leveling. Not to worry though as I will tell you as to what I have edited in the authors notes, so be sure to pay attention to those when they appear as they may contain information required for continued understanding. Also, if you decide to drop this book then please leave a comment on the chapter you stopped on and tell me what made you stop.

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.
