《The Lost Girl (once upon a time Peter Pan fanfic)》12 - Skull Rock

Anna P.O.V
Pan swooped down onto a creepy skull-shaped rock. The mouth appeared to be an entrance into a cave, and the eyes were also hollow.
"You're the first person to see this place in a while..." Pan said
"Is this where you murder people?" I spat at him. How could he still speak to me as if we were friends? I looked over at him, and he looked as though he was losing his patience.
"Look Anna, I'm trying my best to prove to you that I'm not going to kill you!"
"Oh, so that's why you took me to a big scary skull-shaped rock, which is isolated from the rest of Neverland?"
Pan sighed and rolled his eyes, and headed into the cave, while I smirked at the fact that I'd pissed him off. I know I'm going to die, so I might as well have a bit of fun before I do.
Inside the cave was a stone staircase heading up into what I presumed was the eyes of the skull. "After you," Pan said, gesturing towards them. I shot him a deathly stare as I headed up the stairs.
"You said I'm the first person here in a while... who came here last?" I asked.
"No one that concerns you." He replied, with a slight edge to his voice.
"So Wendy then"
"Keep walking,"
I smiled and shook my head slightly as I continued up the stairs, which were deceivingly high up. When we finally reached the top I froze in astonishment. Stood there in front of me was the largest hourglass I'd ever seen, and it was surrounded in golden skulls. As beautiful as it looked, there was still a creepy aspect to it.
"What's this meant to represent? How much life you have left?" I asked

"Wow, you're quick to catch on," Pan replied, sounding slightly impressed, "and as you can see-"
"It's running out. Yes, I see that. And you brought me here so you could take my heart and live a little longer. I know all of this, Pan,"
"Ugh!" Pan shouted, "Why are you so obsessed with me taking people's hearts?!"
"Because you're going to take mine!"
"I'm not going to take yours!" he shouted, looking me right in the eye. I was about to shout something back but I noticed something in his eye. Was he... crying? What if I have been wrong about all of this... after all, I have only heard Hook's side of the story...
After what seemed like an eternity of silence, I finally spoke. "Why did you take Wendy's heart?"
His eyes dropped to the floor, and he took a deep breath in before replying. "Rumple poisoned her heart... and if I didn't crush it, it would've spread to every living this in Neverland. Either way, she would die..." he mumbled, with sad eyes.
"Rumple? You mean Rumpelstiltskin? He's real too?" I asked, immediately regretting it. Pan looked in pain. He really must've loved Wendy... "Sorry... not important,"
"No it's fine, I get that you're not used to this world. Rumple and I have a .... complicated past. I guess you could say we're enemies now, just like me and Hook are." He paused to take a breath, as if he was trying to keep his cool. "The reason I took you here was to prove that I'm not going to steal your heart... I love you Anna, and I didn't think I could feel this was about a girl again after Wendy died, but I do..."

I stared at him for a moment, then smiled, "But Peter, you already have stolen my heart," and with that I ran towards him and kissed him. I wish time could've frozen in that moment, where everything was fine and Peter was the good guy and no one was in danger... but then I remembered.
Pulling away, I looked him in the eye. "Peter... where's Henry?"
He sighed, then turned his back on me. He looked fairly calm, but then he punched the wall hard. "You promised. You promised me that you wouldn't use this against me!"
"Use what?"
"Don't you remember? That night when I told you I just couldn't lie to you... You promised you wouldn't ask about Henry!"
"Just calm down, Peter I know you're-" then I stopped. I'd completely forgotten... He wasn't going to take my heart, but he was still going to take Henry's...
"Anna... please don't do this, without Henry's heart I'll die,"
I couldn't answer him. I couldn't just stand by and let him kill Henry. I was the only one with the power to stop him. But if I saved Henry, Peter would die...
"There has to be another way... another way for you to survive..."
"There isn't, Anna..."
"Peter, I love you... but I can't betray my friends..."
"Forget it. If I don't hear you then you can't stop me, I'm taking his heart, Anna, and that's final," and before I could stop him, he was gone.
Emma P.O.V
It's been ages since Anna ran off. I couldn't believe that she'd been keeping it secret that Pan loved her. All along she had the power to save Henry... and she didn't.
"I knew we couldn't trust that little bitch," said Regina spitefully.
"She hasn't done anything to betray us," said Snow
"Yet! She could be watching Pan rip out Henry's heart as we speak!" shouted Regina
"Regina! The whole reason she ran off was because she was heartbroken about Pan!"
"Enough!" I shouted, "Look, Anna or not, we're finding Henry, and we're finding him alive." I said confidently, although I wasn't really convincing myself. "Hook, do you know any other places we could look?"
"Well there is one, Skull Rock... it's where he goes to see how much time he has left. There's a good chance that's where he'll go to take Henry's heart."
"Well what are we waiting for?" said Regina impatiently, "let's go," and before any of us could get another word in, she'd wandered off.
"Stupid woman doesn't have a clue where Skull Rock is..." sighed Hook, walking after her.
I'm coming Henry... I promise
