Valerie gasped for air as she woke up.
Quickly remembering where she was, she stood up fast but immediately groaned as she felt an undeniable pain in her head. She pulled her hands to touch the back of her head and felt a slight dampness.
Her hand moved to her eyesight and saw dark blood painted on the top of her fingers. She groaned silently but ignored the blood and looked around the large cave.
Her eyes widened as she gasped and ran over to the dead body on the floor. "Jeremy!" Her hands shook as she turned his body on the floor and looked for a pulse.
Tears well up in her eyes as she couldn't find one. "No, no, no." She whispered out. She placed her hands on his chest as she started to perform CPR. "COME ON!" She sobbed as he didn't wake up.
She fell on him as he cuddled his body in a form of comfort. Tears streamed down her face and her body shook.
She heard a quiet groan and her head shot up to see Bonnie laying in the corner. "Bonnie?" She ran over with red marks all over her face from crying.
"Oh my god, are you okay?" She nodded in reply. "Katherine gave me some of her blood when she was 'Elena'." Valerie nodded and wiped her tears yet again.
"W-we need to get o-out of here, Silas is gone and we need to get his body out of here." Valerie couldn't even bring herself to say his name.
They both heard footsteps and a figure revealed to be Elena. She spotted Jeremy's body and ran over to it. She clutched his arm to her chest as she sobbed.
"Jeremy! Oh, no. No. No. Oh, god, no. Oh god..." She checks his hand; the Gilbert ring is still on his finger. "It's fine. It's fine. It's fine. You're gonna be okay. The ring will bring you back. It's okay. It's okay. You're gonna be okay. You're gonna be okay, Jeremy. You're gonna be fine."
After that, Stefan entered the cave in shock at the body laying in Elena's arms.
"How did this happen?" Damon exclaimed as Elena sat on Jeremy's bed waiting for him to wake up.
"Katherine."
"And now Elena's upstairs waiting for a dead Jeremy to wake up even though he won't." Valerie nodded as she paced up and down.
"What about the cure, or Silas?" Stefan sighed. "If there was anything in there at all, it's all gone." Groaning, Damon asked again "Where the hell is Bonnie?"
"I have no idea. She went looking for Jeremy last night. She never came back. Damon, Elena is in there waiting for the Gilbert ring to bring Jeremy back to life." Damon nodded "Okay, fine. I'll wait with her."

Damon walked upstairs whilst Valerie furrowed her eyebrows again. "Where's Klaus?" Stefan shrugged "I'm guessing he ran."
"How long has she been like that?" Valerie gasped in surprise as she didn't realise Caroline had entered the room. "Ever since we found his body. She hasn't said anything except that she's waiting for him to wake up." Caroline nodded slowly as if she was collecting up the information. "But he's not going to wake up. She knows that, right?"
Stefan holds a finger up to his lips to silence her. He walks over to the sink and runs the tap, using the noise to cover their conversation. "Look. Deep down, I think she has to, but we're talking about Elena here. She feels grief more powerfully than anyone else. I think her denial is the one thing protecting her from letting it all in."
Caroline sighs "But she can't stay like that forever." Stefan nodded "I know, but I don't want to be the one to break her out of it, not until we know that Bonnie is safe, not until we get Damon over here to, you know--"
"Use the sire bond to convince her that everything is okay?" Stefan nods but then Elena joins them in the kitchen.
"I'm not in denial." Stefan turns off the tap.
"I know that he was supernatural, but did you see? His tattoo is gone. The tattoo had the spell that opened Silas' chamber. Maybe it being gone means that he's fulfilled his supernatural destiny. Maybe he's back to normal. It's possible, right?"
"Elena--" Caroline sent her an sympathetic glance. "It's possible, Caroline. There's a chance. It may be miniscule, but it's hope and I'm gonna hold on to that hope with everything that I've got because there's no way that m--" She pauses. "There's absolutely no way that my brother is dead."
Valerie agrees in her head but still stays silent. Elena nods and shakes her head a bit. "I'm not in denial." She turns and leaves the kitchen. Caroline and Stefan share a look.
"I need to get out of here." Valerie rushed out as she could start to smell Jeremy's body start to rott. Stefan and Caroline followed her figure with an sad smile.
Valerie ran out of the house and started walking. She wasn't sure where she was going but, she just let her feet move hee there.
She didn't want to think, she wanted to forget about everything for just one night. So when she looked up, she didn't question why she was at the grill. She just simply walked in and ordered herself a drink.
After a few drinks, Valerie knew she was drunk. Being a light weight was one of many things she hated about herself.

She heard someone take the seat next to her and she looked over. "Klaus!" She grinned at him, the alcohol taking over her. "I think you're a bit drunk love." She nodded In agreement. "But I love it!" She exclaimed whilst he chuckled a bit.
"So why are you here and not at home." Valerie frowned. Whispering she asked him "You didn't hear?" He shook his head slowly. She leant over to him and whispered again. "Jeremy's dead."
Klaus frowned at this. Valerie giggled at his expression, immediately forgetting what she just said. "Alright I think you've had enough." Valerie frowned "I've had like nothing." Klaus then went to try and take her drink but she held it towards herself. "I think you should go home."
"I think you should come home with me." She giggled then gasped at her statement. Klaus raised his eyebrows in surprise. Valerie yawned and felt her eyes droop. "I'm tired." Klaus stood up and helped Valerie to her feet. He pushed her out of the grill then when they were out of sight, he flashed to her house.
Valerie quickly hugged Klaus and walked into the house that was weirdly unlocked. Klaus left as soon as she walked in and shut the door.
"Elena, stop it." Valerie almost sobered up at the harshness of his voice. "Why? Because you want me to not be in denial? You want me to face the truth? This is the truth, Stefan. I don't want to live here anymore. I don't want these sketches." Shs sprays them with lighter fluid and kicks something.
"I don't want this Xbox." She also throws down the empty bottle and reaches into a cabinet. "Not gonna need this bourbon anymore. Alaric's not here to drink it, I mean, unless you guys are willing to bring back every supernatural creature on the Other Side to get him back."
Turning to Damon she asked "Would you? I know you want your drinking buddy back. Would you, Damon? Because I wouldn't." She yet again walks over to Jeremy's body and splashes bourbon over him. "I don't know, I mean, does that make me a bad person? I-- I have no idea."
She pulls the Gilbert ring off of Jeremy's finger and tosses it to Damon. "He's not gonna need that anymore." Caroline shouts at her "Elena, stop it. You're scaring me!" Valerie finally walked into the room.
"Elena, stop."
Elena takes down a picture frame from the fireplace mantle. "What else are we supposed to do with the body, Valerie? I mean, there's no-- there's no room in the Gilbert family plot." She throws the frame down on the floor and the glass cracks. Jenna and-- and John took the last spots and let's be realistic it's not long until Val with die or become a vampire."
She throws the empty bottle of bourbon against the wall and it shatters, then grabs a match from the mantle and lights it.
"No, no, Elena. Stop." Elena starts shouting. "There's nothing here for me anymore, Stefan. Every inch of this house is filled with memories of the people that I love that have died-- my mom, my dad, Jeremy, and Jenna and Alaric, John, even John. I mean, they're all dead. Everyone is dead. So what am I supposed to-- I mean, how am I gonna-- I can't even-- There's nothing left for me-- aah!"
The flame had burned down on the match and started to burn Elena's hand. She drops the match but Damon vamp-speeds over to catch it before it can ignite on the lighter fluid everywhere. Elena sobs and starts to crumble.
"Elena, I need you to calm down." Elena shakes her head "No, no, no, I can't. I can't. I can't. I--" She falls to her knees, immeasurable pain and grief distorting her face. She grabs at her head. "No. It hurts. It hurts. Just make it stop. Please make it stop. It hurts." She continues sobbing loudly.
"Damon...Help her." Damon crouches down next to her and pulls her to him. "I can help you. I want you to let me help you." Elena shudders as Damon touches her face. She sits up, pulling away as Damon gently caresses her cheeks and smooths her hair back. "I can help you." Elena looks up at him.
"How?"
Damon sighs. "Turn it off." Stefan shouts "What? No, no." Valerie turned to Damon in shock. "No, dont do this Damon." Damon holds up a hand to stop them from intervening. "Just turn it off, and everything will go away. That's what you have to do. It's what I want you to do. Just turn it off."
The light fades from her eyes and Valerie leaves the room. She walks out of the house, waiting for Elena to burn it down. She knows now that she turned her humanity off she won't care about the house anymore.
And if it makes Elena feel better. It makes her feel better.
The rest of the group walked out of the house as Elena threw the match at the house. It went up in flames as a tear rolled down Valerie's face.
Bit of Klaus and Valerie for you there ;) we need a ship name though so comment ideas!

Once he returned, he found out that only 10 years had passed. He was given the title of War of the North but he never even knew about it. After all, nobody could get close enough to tell it to him. But that all changes one day when a portal opens, allowing Kreig and a small band of soldiers to enter one of many portals that leads to Earth. He's been imprisoned, gained and lost comrades, been betrayed... The whole lot. By now, all he wants is to put it all behind him, something the world doesn't seem to want to let him. Aspect of the Beast
This story is being rewritten! The new version, A Price in Memory, can be found here. I highly suggest you read the new version as this one won't be completed. Core .001
This is a story of Shiro, a 12 year old girl who wished to adventure around the world. Only to end up in an untimely death. When she wakes up, she finds herself in what seems to be a new world, and her body has changed to that of a catkin. Using her knowledge from knowing literature of people in similar situations and adventuring, she tries to make a place for herself in this new world. Only to find out that reality is far crueler than one would imagine. Even with what one would call an OP unique skill and other OP advantages, she finds things quickly fall apart regardless how hard she tries. Thus she seeks more and more power to not only survive, but to protect what is important to her. Unbeknownst to her though, lies within her an ancient power time primordial. A power so vast it can bring anything to its knees. This ancient power can easily be unlocked with just one sentence, but this sentence shall never be spoken. Instead, Shiro will embark on a new path to gaining a new different kind of power as she moves forward in this new world. WARNING: The first few volumes will have tragedy, which will disappear at around Volume 5 or 6. From then on it will be just pure OP-ness and having fun. While I personally like OP characters and don’t like tragedies myself, I think it is unrealistic that a person goes to an unknown and everything just magically go their way via plot armor. So I wanted to build up a more realistic OP reincarnation novel where MC struggles through a new world regardless of their advantages due to gaps in knowledge (despite how prepared she was) and simply not having enough strength at the time. ------------------------------------------- This is my first poor attempt at a story. I read a lot of novels overall and was in the mood to see how well I can write one. Expect a lot of mistakes here and there as I am pretty new to writing. Releases should be about 2 times a week(changed due to chapter size pretty much doubling) unless stated otherwise or inbetween volumes. I will at least commit to finishing the volume I am on (Nothing worse than a story being cut off mid story). So give me your comments what you think. I don't mind if the comments are bad and etc. Just lay off the grammar nazi (My only weakness)
