《Far Too Little (Age Regression)》42. Cuddles

"Ricky you've been summoned"
Ricky turned around from the dishwasher. I gave him no explanation other than-
"Follow"
Ricky did as told and followed me out of the kitchen to the sitting to room, to our little princess, dressed up in his little kitty onesie with a pair of fluffy pink socks on, even though it was footed. Wren insisted he needed his 'sockies' though. He sat in the middle of the couch surrounded by toys (that I'd been trying to tire him out with for ages with), a big smile on his face.
"I got Daddy just like you asked bubba"
Wren took out his paci and excitedly patted the seats next to him.
"Sih! Sigh he-ur!"
Ricky and I did as we were told and sat down on either side of the baby. Wren quickly gathered his 3 stuffie friends from the scattered toys and stared at them, sticking his tongue out in concentration. He looked to me and Ricky, then back to the stuffies before finally announcing.
"Daddy hode Topsy"
Ricky was handed the stuffed elephant.
"An- an Papa hode beawamy"
I was given the stuffed bear.
"Ans I haves stuffie"
Wren squeezed his stuffed horse in a small hug, looking very pleased with what he was doing.
"Baby bear, why are we holding your teddies?"
Ricky asked, chuckling a little while brushing hair out of wrens face. Wren answered excitedly.
"Cause dey wanna be cuddled, hawd work, chus help me!"
I looked at the brown bear decked out in blue pyjamas, I obviously got the best choice.
Wren scooted over to me and clambered onto my lap, before whining a little and beckoning Ricky over. Ricky moved over next to me and leaned his head on my shoulder.
Wren snuggled up to us both and let out a content sigh.
"Bwankie?"
I reached over and grabbed the nearby blanket and draped it over us all. Wren hummed happily and closed his eyes before looking back up at me and Ricky and smiling.
"Bubba?"
Wren looked to me and tilted his head
"Is it really you who's looking for some cuddles?"
Wrens eyes grew panicy
"N-no no, dey wanned cuddle, I jus wan hep"
Wren jammered quickly, fumbling either stuffie in his hands. Ricky leaned in and planted a soft kiss to Wrens temple
"Well im not complaining either way. I love my cuddle bugs"
Ricky squeezed all 5 of us, me Wren and the 3 teddies. Wren let out a little happy scream and babbled at him. Then covered half his face with the blanket, giggling madly, to protect from Ricky's incoming tickley puppy kisses.
Wren began to teethe on the edge of the blanket, shoving it in his mouth with a few fingers and squealing. I made an attempt to swap out the blanket and fingers for a paci but was stopped halfway.
Once Wrens fingers were out of his mouth I felt a tug on my hair.
His short attention span had struck and wren was now enamoured, grasping the ends of my hair. I really needed a cut as it's longer length seems to have spurred Wren into more hair grabbing, probably my least favourite of his adorable habits.
I, in return stuck my tongue out at him and soon as wren had gotten close enough to my face I blew a raspberry on his cheek . He shrieked and giggled
"Silly little princess, aren't ya? So silly"
"Mhm such a cute little thing too as well Aren't ya just little one?"
Ricky too complimented, and blew another raspberry on his other cheek .

We continued asking Wren rhetorical questions about how silly or cute he, making him flush and make more of his cute little baby screams.
Ricky took a glance at the clock on the wall, nudging me and gesturing over. It was just about Wrens bedtime, time for a bit of wind-down time.
Wren noticed we'd stopped the attention and whined a little before reaching back up to tug my hair. I gently took hold of his hand, rubbing it with my thumb while cooing softly. Wren whined lowly and squirmed, fussing over not being able to grab at my hair again
"Oh shshsh baby boy, my perfect little one"
Wren was momentarily transfixed by my words as he stared up at me with his big big blue eyes. I could almost see them glaze over as I kept praising him in a soft low tone.
But he was suddenly snapped out his sleepy happy daze when he felt one body move out from under him. Ricky had tried to take the opportunity to slip out of the cuddle pile but failed in getting past Wren. He stood frozen as Wren looked to him, his bottom lip jutted out. He whimpered and held out a grabby hand for Ricky.
"Dada cuddle"
Ricky cupped Wrens face with his hand and rubbed his cheek with his thumb.
"I'll be right back baby bear, just gonna go make your baba-"
Wren put two and two together, bedtime was imminent. He quickly snuggled back up to me with a little whine.
"Buh I no wanna go sleepies"
I scratched the back of his head as he burrowed into my chest.
"Aw whys that bubba?"
I asked, distracting wren as Ricky slipped away to make a bottle.
"Cebause I no sweepy an I wanna say up-"
He mumbled, hugging me a little tighter.
"-an I good boy, chu let good boy wrenny say up lay-ur an I goof boy"
I gave Wren a bit of a look. He knows he hadn't been on his best behaviour today, thinking about his little incident with Ricky earlier.
Wren kept trying to convince me that he should be able to stay up.
"An- an if I no go sleepies den we watch a moovie an get cuddles"
I chuckled and nuzzled Wrens cheek
"As much as I love your cuddles bubba, if you go to bed now then there'll be even more time to cuddle tomorrow"
Wren pouted but looked up at me in hope.
"Weally, we do moah cuddles tomorrow?"
"So many cuddle... tomorrow though bubba, I'm exhausted"
I faked a yawn and nearly gagged when wren stuck his hand in my mouth.
Ricky chose that moment to come back in
"Thought you were supposed to be winding him down"
He joked as he sat down next to me. Wren crawled over to Ricky's lap and gave him some innocent eyes, trying to risk a chance with Daddy, even with me literally right next to him
"Daddy- dada, Papa says I has to go to bed"
"Well he's not wrong baby bear, its bedtime. And you need all the sleep you can get, such a tiny baby"
"Buh am noh ti-urd, wrenny wake!"
"How about we see how you feel after your baba?"
Wren put his hands to his eyes and started to sniffle
"I don wanna. Wanna cuggle"
Me and Ricky immediately began comfort procedures for the little one.
I reached over and began to rub his tummy, Ricky giving Wren a good hug.
"Hey hey hey, no need for tears. Remember were gonna have loads more cuddles tomorrow"
"And who says we can't cuddle while your drinking your baba little one"
Ricky added on.
Wren moved his hands from his face and leaned back into Ricky, sniffint while looking up at us both. Sadly Wren wore a small frown. We couldn't couldn't have that so I tickled his tummy and Ricky crossed his eyes. Wrens burst into giggles and his wonderful smile returned.
"There's my happy little boy, you want your baba darling?"
"Mhm, bwankie pwease"
Wren hummed and held out his grabby hands, both for the bottle and cuddles.
Ricky obliged with the bottle leaning more into me as I covered us all up with the blanket. I kept a protective arm around the two while using my other to lightly scratch Ricky's head.
We stayed that way until Wren's bottle was empty, the soft suckling sound turning to a little whine once wren realised. Ricky distracted him with the switch to his pacifier.
"Shshsh here's your paci baby, its ok"
Wren held onto his paci with one hand and closed his eyes, almost happy to dose off there.
"Oh are you tired now bubba?"
Wren whined a little and shook his head.
"Ok then bubba.. how about we get you changed though, I'm sure you're- yep wet"
I checked Wrens diaper under the blanket, making wren flush and whine again.
"Come on baby boy, let's move"
Ricky stood, keeping Wren in his neck and supporting under his bum. Wren fussed a little, squirming to get comfy.
"Hmpf"
Wren just about settled when he peeked his eyes open and looked around, whimpering.
"Papa?"
He asked anxiously. I realised he couldn't see me anymore. I stood aswell, holding onto the 3 discarded teddies knowing that wren would probably ask for them in a moment. I stepped in front of them both.
"I'm right here princess. Papa's right here"
Wren babbled at me, reaching out one hand towards me. I let him grab onto my pinky finger and he smiled around his paci.
We all walked to the nursery, wren still holding a tight grip on my pinky.
Wren was mostly fine for changing, only really fussing over the loss of contact and bring cold. I kept him distracted while still letting him onto my finger.
He whined and kicked out a bit when Ricky tried to wipe him but a swift reprimand from Daddy had him apologising.
"Baby you nearly kicked Daddy there, you have to be careful. I know you're uncomfy right now but you're such a good boy, nearly finished"
"Am sowwy dada"
"S'ok bubba, dada knows you didn't mean it"
Ricky said as he taped up the new diaper around Wrens waist.
Wren wiggled on the table once Ricky finished dressing him back up in the kitty onesie.
"Sockies! Need sockies"
I couldn't believe Ricky had forgotten the sockies.
"This is a disgrace, forgetting the princesses sockies. You should be ashamed Richard"
Wren softly giggled and Ricky rolled his eyes at me, then played it up with wren.
"This is a disgrace dear David, how could I forget the little princesses sockies"
He slipped the same footed socks back over Wrens covered feet.
"There. Are we all happy now bubba?"
Wren nodded, holding his hands up to his smiling face cutely.
Ricky picked Wren up again and rocked him gently in his arms. Wren then realised he was getting sleepy and pouted, beginning to fuss and whine. I cupped his face with my hand. My other hand still holding all 3 teddies.
"Bubba none of that now, it's bedtime"
Wren stopped his fussing but a small pout still traced over his lips. He was clearly tired really didn't matter to him. I sighed and kissed Wrens temple, stroking his cheek tenderly.
"Think about all the fun we're gonna have tomorrow Wren, all the cuddles you could imagine"
I said to him from over Ricky's shoulder, wren dreamily smiled before excitedly adding
"An Papa no go to stupid job, stay wif me an Dada"
Ricky shot me an amused questioning look.
I hadn't said to him my plans of taking the day off tomorrow or a possible vacation soon. We had much to discuss. Just needed to get the little tyke to bed, then we'd talk.
"And you have to go to bed to reach tomorrow bubba"
Ricky started rocking said tyke again.
"Uh huh, let's get you all comfy baby bear"
Wren yawned and nearly dropped his paci, but I caught it and put it back in his mouth. We walked to the crib and lowered the bars, placing Wren down inside. Me and Ricky sitting down on the ground next to him.
I thought Wren was going to start up again with the fussing but he quite happily laid down, only squirming to flip onto his tummy.
"Oh are you extra comfy now little bat?"
Wren nodded and felt around then whimpered.
"Stuffies?"
Wren practically whispered, his tiredness evident.
"Don't fret bubba, I've got them right here"
I gave over the stuffed friends and Wren quickly encorporated them into his nest. He used Bearemy as a pillow while keeping an arm around topsy and stuffie. Ricky covered them up with the duvet and Wrens ducky blanket.
Wrens eyes fluttered open and closed, still fighting off sleep.
"Ricky darling, I think this is your cue"
I rubbed wrens back as Ricky began to sing.
Come along with me
And the butterflies and bees
We can wander through the forest
And do so as we please
Wren let out another tiny yawn before finally shutting his eyes.
Come along with me
To a cliff under a tree
Where we can gaze upon the water
As an everlasting dream
I held up hand to Ricky to stop him as
Wrens little snores could be heard.
We quietly stood and backed our way out of the room.
We walked back out to the sitting room. Ricky pulled me down onto the couch with him, lying on top of me.
"So, what's all this about Papa no going to stoopid job?"
He grinned at me and I chuckled, wrapping my arms around him.
"When wren and I were having our chat, he told me he was upset over me going to work and leaving him and you alone. On the weekend and such when I'm supposed to be here fulfilling my incredible dad and husband duties. And when I told him that I was here now, and it's all ok... he asked if I was leaving again tomorrow-"
I chuckled again.
"I just couldn't say no to him"
Ricky awed and mushed my cheeks together.
"D'aw your such a big softie. Caving to our little ones every want and desire. He has you whipped!"
"Oh shush, you're just as bad"
"Thats beside the point sweetheart, mainly is Mr Ambrose and everyone ok with this"
"Yep, were all just peachy. Sent a call over to Stacey earlier plus I've got so many vacation days piled up, they literally have to let me take a break"
Ricky hmpfed.
"Well good, you deserve a break away from the desk, away to changing diapers and getting your hair pulled"
We laughed.
"Those may be my least favorite parts of the job, but it's all worth it to see our little princesses smile.. and my Kings smile. Come on Ricky, dazzle me!"
Ricky gave me an award winning smile
"There it is, my favourite smile by far"
I trailed a hands up Ricky's body.
"Acompanied by the best head of hair I know"
I scratched Ricky's scalp and with one hand, still hugging, he melted in my arms. Not melted enough not to comment on my own head of hair though.
"Speaking of hair, you growing yours out? Or you gonna get it cut?"
I groaned
"I don't know, I kind of like it longer, might see where it goes. But I think I'm at a serious risk of it being brutally ripped from my skull"
Ricky snorted
"Ah but I like it long"
He reached up and softly ran his fingers through my hair.
"I think you'll survive our little princess"
"Oh really you think so?"
Ricky hummed and sank into me, shutting his eyes. I immediately shook him
"Hey come on now, don't you fall asleep on me now. You're not even in pyjamas, Ricky come onnnnn-"
He clapped his hand over my mouth.
"Fine shush, I'm up! Can't take any more whining tonight"
I smirked as he sprang off of me, turning around to help me up as well.
"So what Ricky, are you declaring am early night?"
Ricky yawned and hugged around my waist, pulling me in close. For him to only rest his head on my shoulder and sigh.
"Yeah, I think we're getting old. I'm wrecked"
I booped Ricky's nose and he scrunched it up.
"I think we're a few hundred years off of old darling"
"Still I want sleep, and you have to sleep with me"
"But of course dear"
Ricky turned off of me, keeping his head on me as we walked to the bedroom.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I stirred awake, blinking and grumbling as I turned and tried to go back to sleep. I was stopped in my attempt by the sight of my darling dear husband, sitting up, awake, and reading.
He looked to me and smirked. I probably looked a state after just waking up. David's little reading glasses framed his face and reflected the lowlight of the table lamp he'd turned on.
"Well hello my love"
He shut the book, took off his glasses and leaned down to me. Gently placing a kiss on my forehead, being unable to reach my kips as I'd pulled the covers up over my nose.
I leaned up on my hands to reach his lips.
"Good morning darling, what time is it?"
David looked over to the clock
"Just about half 8"
"Alright cool-"
I pulled myself more towards David, getting more comfortable as he wrapped his arms around me.
"-I'm gonna go back to sleep right here"
He chuckled at me.
"Ok honey"
He picked his book back up and I huffed, slapping it out of his hands, off the bed and to the floor. He looked down at me.
"Really?"
"Yeah, I'm not actually going back to sleep, pay attention to me"
David laughed and squeezed me in a massive hug. We stayed happily silent for while, just enjoying the embrace, till David finally spoke.
"Ricky I was thinking"
"Thinking bout what?"
"Well.. since I've got vacation days stacked and I think we all deserve a break.. just, how about we get away for a while"
I looked at him weird.
"What, like a holiday?"
"Yeah..."
He paused, for a little too long and I grew bewildered
"What?! Don't just leave it on that, what're thinking of doing"
"I could take some days off, road trip maybe. I don't know, I didn't think of much more"
I began dreaming of an incredible family trip. I zoned out thinking of the new places to take wren, the little outfits I could dress him up in.
"Ricky?.. Ricky? Ricky!?"
David said, louder to me. I jumped and he laughed.
"What're you dreaming about?"
"The perfect family holiday"
"Oh wow, sounds perfect"
I playfully pushed David's face and he laughed, kissing me again.
Our laughs and fun we're interupted by a sudden cry. We both sat up and David fumbled, reaching over for the baby monitor.
The lights flashed as more cries made their way through. We were both up in an instant, David lingered for a moment as I quickly grabbing a dressing gown, as I was only wearing shorts. Far too tired last night to change into anything else.
We headed straight to the nursery as I tied the cord around my waist.
We walked in to find Wren, sitting up and hugging bearemy, sobbing into the brown bear. I was first to him.
"Wren? Oh baby bear what's wrong"
Wren looked up at me and let out a strangled cry. He dropped bearemy and threw his hands up to be held. I picked him up and held him close, gently rocking. Wren continued to cry into my chest.
"Oh bubba it's ok"
David said after coming up to us, he rubbed wrens back and wren looked out to him, crying out again. He reached out a hand and grabbed David's t-shirt.
David hugged us both, creating a wonderful Wren sandwich that soothed the little baby to sniffles and hiccups.
I carried Wren over to the armchair, David assuming position on the arm. Wren still held onto David's shirt, while staying pressed as close as he could to me.
"Why don't you tell us why you're upset bubba"
Wren squirmed and pawed at his read puffy eyes, frowning.
"Bad dweam"
He looked about ready to start crying again so I kept up with the gentle bouncing and shushing.
"My poor little baby bat, I'm sorry baby"
Wren whimpered and buried his face in my dressing gown.
"Do you wanna tell what the dream was about?-"
I asked but wren cut me off with a little whine, he shook his head.
"Buh, buh, Papa know"
I looked to David with a quizzical expression. David remained very calm talking to wren, in turn keeping Wren calm.
"Was it the same nightmare from yesterday?"
Wren nodded with a whimper and David said a little 'ok bubba'
I hugged wren tight and nuzzled his forehead. Wrens fingers began edging their way towards his mouth

He will encounter strong enemies, build powerful alliances, and become a person his ancestors would be proud of. But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. Kichiro's Rampage
Meet Kichiro, the son of a samurai. A social outcast, he leaves his home with nothing but a musket and a sword, determined to carve himself a niche in a chaotic world of dragons and leviathans. This fiction incorporates LitRPG elements, but it's not set in a VR. It's set in a fantastical world based loosely on East Asia in the 16th and 17th Century, when the Ming Dynasty was on its last legs, with the addition of magic and monsters. I totally stole the stat tables from Exterminatus, the author of Everybody Loves Large Chests, so let me credit him for that. I'm new to writing so please don't hesitate to criticise, and reviews would be greatly appreciated.
