Chapter 13
Night came again, and it made Skadis mission all that easier. The orange light of a fire lit up what she assumed was a clearing in the thick woods. Sigtryggr had crept ahead, skadi however leapt towards the light, and.
It wasn't Ragnar.
It wasn't any dane that had traveled with them, naturally. Though the group of men seemed unphased by her sudden appearance, not even making a move to their weapons. No they stared at the pair for a moment, then went back to eating.
"How many people are in these fucking woods." she leaned into Sigtryggr, "now what."
"We keep going?"
"Uh sure," the men started taking interest in them, and she did not want that "sorry."
A man stood, blocking they're path, "danes, I fucking hate danes."
Other men grunted along with him, rising.
"Oh, we are from norway." skadi nearly yelped out, "no danes here, Sig?"
"No, no danes."
"Bunch of raiders are whatcha are, I intend to keep my belongings." he crept forward.
"And you think two kids are gonna fight a band of grown men how?" Sigtryggr glared at her.
"Shut up."
"I'm serious, what do you think we're going to do?"
The burly man stepped closer, his stomach reached her before the rest of him, staring at her before a smile broke out. He gave a hearty laugh, even throwing his head back. Before sitting back down, and gesturing to Skadi to do the same. She did sitting on the old log, it was wet, hopefully from the rain.
"Im Hendrie, of Fife. these are my men." he introduced himself.
"I'm Skadi of-'' she thought for a moment, "hedeby. And this is Sigtryggr." said Sigtryggr was hesitantly at the camp's edge trying to stay close to her. Eventually he sat on the ground beside her.

"Skadi we still need to find Ragnar-"
"Ragnar? Ragnar Lothbrok?" Hendries booming voice made skadis ears hurt. " That old boar is still kickin" The men laughed along with him, though Skadi stayed quiet.
"Yes, very much so still alive." Skadi rose, "and no doubt looking for us, Sig lets go."
"Why would he want a little girl at his side" it was another man this time snickering. "Ye fucking him girl?"
"He's my father."
The statement silenced them, as Skadi pulled Sigtryggr up. Marching toward the tree line, still gripping his wrist
"Girl," skadi whipped her head to the man in front of her, "Ragnar Lothbrok killed my son, maybe it's time to return the favour."
"Aldric" Hendries voice was warning him, dont be stupid boy.
"Or maybe it's time for me to finish what I started." Ragnars body lurked out of the trees, sword ready and waiting. "Threaten my daughter again, and I'll skin you alive."
"Aldric, sit down." Hendrie rose.
"Should listen to him." His voice was low, and eyes keen for any form of attack, yet Aldric backed down.
Ragnar kept his sword ready, while they retreated back into the trees. He was silent as they walked, almost angry.
Sig trotted along behind them, and Skadi tried to keep up with her father.
"Papa?'' he ignored her, "father." still he stared straight ahead. She stopped in her tracks.
"Ragnar Lothbrok!" he finally stopped, turning towards her.
Her face was stern, hardened, so much like her mother. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
"I thought you were dead."
"You're angry because you thought I was dead?, or are you angry that I'm not?"
He didn't answer her in words, only pulling her up into his arms squeezing hard. He didn't release her for a few moments, his cheeks even felt wet.
"I love you, my little wolf." he pulled away, smiling.
"I love you too Papa."
"Anyone one love me?" Sig interrupted.
"No."

Aeternalis
One born of nothingness. A world born of everything. To return all to nothing. Or surrender to everything. A man born into an infinite world, trying to find his path to the top. Trials and tribulations come from friends and foes alike until all bow before him. ------------------------------------- Author here! This is my 3rd story on RoyalRoad, the other two having long since been dropped years ago. They were a mess of ideas and had no real substanence to them, leading me to begin hating writing them and eventually just stop writing altogether for about a year and a half. Finally, after reading hundreds of thousands of pages of novels, from low fantasy to sci-fi litrpg's to thousands of pages long xianxias, I finally feel ready to write a real story that isn't a cesspool of ideas blended together. I plan to see this out to the end, as I already have the first few major arcs planned out unlike my other stories where I thought of ideas as I wrote. This story takes place in a world with a litrpg system, as per tags. This isn't a VRMMO or Reincarnation story. The main character exists in and is from said world. There are some differences from other litrpg's which will be explained in author notes in the few few chapters. I plan to publich 6-7 chapters a week, each 2-3k words long. If i fail to do so I will create a back-log I have to eventually make up but as of writing this it's the summer for me so I'll have plenty of time to write. Enjoy, and welcome to the world of Aeternalis.
