Anime: Black Butler
(Y/n)'s POV
I had finally arrived at the place that was going to change my life...the Phantomhive manor. My persistent predators had given up on the endless chase to hunt me down.
This was all thanks to my friend, who had gotten killed in the process of helping me escape. Of course, my parents were killed along with my friend.
Before I could walk another step, I collapsed onto the ground, unable to stand. It was almost as if the darkness had corrupted my body, turning it into a sickly corpse.
Damn it, I had made it to the entrance. I couldn't just give up now. Unexpectedly, I felt myself being lifted off the ground.
"Don't worry, young miss. The young master has ordered for you to be taken inside, where you will experience the Phantomhive household's best hospitality," exclaimed the butler who had picked me up.
"W-who..."
"Oh, apologies Lady (Y/n). My name is Sebastian Michaelis, the head butler."
"How did he know I was coming?"
"We received a letter from your father a day before he passed away."
"Oh..."
I was taken inside and given a new change of clothes. The soft fabric of the exquisite dress felt smooth against my skin. It seemed to lift me out of the abyss and back into a better reality.
The sudden knock on the door almost made me jump out of my skin. I wasn't expecting anyone to come so soon.
"Come in."
"Are you ready, Lady (Y/n)? Young master is waiting for you in his study," exclaimed Sebastian.
"Y-yes, I'm ready."
"Well then, let us go."
I followed him down the long hallways and corridors until we reached what seemed to be a large room with intricately decorated engravings on the doors.
Sebastian motioned for me to go inside, which I did. I came face to face with a young boy around my age sitting behind an expensive oak desk.

His stoic expression contradicted the beautiful furnishings of his study. It was almost as if his soul was tainted by the darkness that had so wanted to consume me.
"Good morning, Miss (Y/n)," he greeted.
"M-morning Earl Phantomhive."
"Sebastian, leave us be. I'll call you if I need anything."
"Yes, my lord."
The darkly dressed man took his leave. The boy standing in front of me motioned for me to sit down on one of his navy blue couches. I cautiously took advantage of his offer, too careful of everything and everyone.
"Why are you so tense? I'm not your enemy, so please disregard the negative thoughts you are having. I am a friend of your parents," exclaimed the young earl.
"I-if you say so."
"Do you mind if I ask you what happened?"
"...of course not. Telling you is the least I can do."
He simply nodded as if to tell me to continue as he offered me a cup of tea. I breathed in its sweet aroma, letting it calm my thoughts before taking a small sip.
I needed to calm down. He had nothing to gain from ending my life. I had to believe in my father and mother. They sent me here for a reason and I must see it through till the very end.
"The truth is...my family used to be involved with street gangs and thieves a few generations ago. It was only later that my great grandfather decided to end our connection with the city's lower classes and move up the ladder."
"And I'm guessing those gangs weren't happy with this?" I nodded.
"They wanted revenge. My family's wealth, they were jealous of it. They were angry at how...my family had been able to earn such luxuries while leaving them behind."
"So they're trying to take you life in order to take revenge and steal your family's wealth?"

"Yes. Everyone in the manor was murdered, and I'm the only one left. The fact that I'm a daughter to the (L/n) family is only better for them."
My hands were shaking by the time I finished my story. The tea left in the fragile cup was rippling violently. I tried to take deep breaths to calm my body but it was futile without my parents.
Ciel suddenly grasped my hands with his. I looked at him in surprise. He carefully took the teacup from my shaking hands before taking a seat beside me.
He fingers intertwined with mine as he looked at me in the eye. I was lost in the deep blue of his eyes as I slowly calmed down and fought back the corrupted thoughts that had threatened to overtake me.
"Listen (Y/n), you have to trust me if you want to get back your family's wealth and legacy. I will protect you no matter what."
Ciel's POV
I was angered...extremely angered. This fragile girl in front of me didn't remember me at all and that pained my heart. I had hoped that she had at least regained a little of her lost memories but that seemed too much to ask for.
Those moronic gangs...I'd break them apart. They'd be so broken that they'd wish they were dead. They deserved it for hurting someone close to me.
~Flashback (when Ciel's 7 years old)~
"(Y/n), come and play."
She happily followed me to the gardens outside, where we looked at all the beautiful flowers that were in full bloom.
I grabbed the girl's hand as we ran down the pathways, breathing in the fumes of the flowers. I didn't want this to end.
She was my best friend and I didn't want to lose the girl beside me. Her bright smile was enough to lift my spirits when I was feeling down.
Yes, that's right. I had deep feelings for this beautiful, sweet girl who seemed to be innocence itself.
Back then, I was too young to know it. She had taken my heart and I'd die without her by my side.
It was overwhelmingly painful for me to find out that she had permanent memory loss and no longer remembered anything from before seven years old.
I was forbidden to see her, and soon, no longer begged for it. Seeing as how my pleads were always turned down, I deemed it futile to visit the girl I had once loved...believing that it was for her own benefit.
A loud explosion could be heard just outside the manor, dangerously close to where we were. I immediately grabbed (Y/n)'s hand and tried to drag her back inside.
That was, until another bomb was thrown our way. She pushed me out of the way, taking the full force of the explosion. But before I got a chance to go to her, I was pulled back by my father.
"N-no! (Y/n), I need to save her!"
"Ciel, it's too dangerous!" yelled mother.
"I don't care! I need to save (Y/n)!"
"Listen to your mother, Ciel! You won't be of any use to (Y/n) if you're dead!" exclaimed father.
It was only later that day when (Y/n) returned to her manor, unconscious. All her lost memories remained with me, where I would have to safeguard them until the day she returned, if ever.
~Flashback end~
"Ciel, what are you staring at? Are you alright? Are you ill?" (Y/n) asked while gently putting her hand against my forehead.
"*blush* I-I'm perfectly fine!"
She looked at me before giggling. This caused me to blush a darker shade of red in embarrassment. I looked away from her gaze. But I couldn't help smiling slightly.
I...missed you so much...(Y/n).

But when they encounter the mysterious Shiakar Paradigm Society, a clash of paradigms ensues. Although both groups are aiming to make humanity stand stronger, their ideals and methods could not be further apart. Between the trio's optimistic yet naive ideals, and the SPS's tried-and-true surgical methods, determining the answer which methods can better humanity is a struggle that both parties must resolve in their own ways... Welcome to the 7th revision of my 10+ years ongoing novel trilogy. This revision took out some flawed plot concepts to re-introduce a more down-to-earth, film noir-like ambience, where a battle of wits is what will determine the outcome. It also added instead more in-depth expansion into the lives and mindsets of the characters, especially the heroes (a missing factor in older versions). Third-view limited storytelling was also introduced more prominently over my favoured third-view omnipotent, with each chapters concentrating as much as possible on a single character's point of view instead of head-hopping. So I shall begin uploading the chapters as I finish them; they're edited as much as I can, but there'll most likely be some typos and mistakes. As always, I welcome your comments and critiques, and I hope you enjoy reading that story as much as I did creating it! A parting poem to introduce the story (translated from its original French version): Credit: Les Mots, Mylene Farmer & Seal Firmly, the sky writhes When a mouth begets a death There, I will give my life to hear you To tell you the most tender words When all becomes all alone I'll break my life for a song And to lives that stoop to notice mine I know I will say goodbye But a fraction of this life I would give anything, anytime The universe has its mysteries Words are our lives You could kill a life with words Soul, how would it feel? If our lives are so fragile Words are mysteries Words of feelings Words of love, a temple If one swept the world away One could touch the universe I will tell you how the sun rose high We could with a word become one And for all those words that hurts us There are those that touches us Which illuminates, touches the infinity Even if nothingness exists For a fraction on this life We will give anything, anytime The universe has its mysteries Words are our lives We could kill a life with words Soul, how would it feel? If our lives are so fragile Words are mysteries Words of feelings Words of love, a temple
