《Anime/Webtoon Oneshots》Peaceful Protection (Raizel x reader)

Webtoon: Noblesse
(Y/n)'s POV
I hid behind my brother as he introduced me to the man that had saved his life. He had continuously reassured me of the safety that his mansion provided from our countless enemies but I was still hesitant to meet this stranger.
"(Y/n), come on," Frankenstein exclaimed while pushing me to the front.
"I-I..um..nice to meet you...um.."
"I'm sorry, we've been targeted by many people so it'll take her quite a while to get used to actually having those she can trust."
"I see," replied the dark-haired man.
I looked outside, beyond all the trees and bushes and at the imaginary horizon I had mentally materialised from nothing. Frankenstein and I weren't going to stay here for long. They were going to come for us.
I needed to obtain more power. I couldn't keep hiding behind my brother like a coward. I needed to fight too...
"Huh? Where's..."
"He went to get tea," said the man.
"W-what's your name?"
"Raizel."
A peaceful silence filled the room as I sat down on one of the plush armchairs while he stood by the window. The soft chirping of the birds and quiet whispering of the leaves calmed the negative thoughts I was having.
Perhaps coming here wasn't such a bad idea after all. There were no dangers I could sense from outside and this man seemed to harbour no ill feelings towards us.
"C-can we go o-outside?"
He simply turned his head to look at me before giving a slight nod. He gestured for me to follow him, which I did. Once we reached the garden, I stopped by the front door.
I was afraid of stepping outside of this safe haven. If something happened...then it'd be my fault and nothing could change that. I didn't want to risk this but I yearned for the sensation of a peaceful afternoon.

"It's safe," Raizel exclaimed.
I timidly headed outside. Once I realised that no dangers were present, a large smile graced my once worried face. I began walking around before that walking soon turned into running.
I haven't had fun like this in ages. It was amazing to just be able to chase the birds and run against the blowing wind. I climbed the trees to see above, to see the bright blue sky.
Rai's POV
I watched as Frankenstein's sister climbed the trees to look at the sky above. She sure didn't hold back. I felt a presence beside me. He had come out to look at (Y/n).
"I'm sorry that you have to see her act like that. She's usually not so...childish," Frankenstein said with a sigh.
"It's fine. She looks happy."
~Some time later~
I had been summoned by the lord. It was most likely because he just wanted to have a conversation but he knew what I was like. *sigh* Why couldn't he just give up?...
"Haven't seen you in a while. How have you been?" he asked.
"Fine."
"At least give me more of an answer."
"But I have nothing else to say."
Everyone turned around at the sound of the door opening. (Y/n) peeped inside, timidly holding onto the door as if it'd protect her from any incoming attacks.
"(Y/n)."
"Huh? Who's this?" asked the lord.
"I-I um w-was looking for R-Rai but it looks like y-you're in an i-important meeting, so I'll go n-now," she said quietly.
She quickly closed the door and left before any of us could reply to her statement. I continued to stare at the door long after she had left. What did she need me for?
"Who was that?"

"An...acquaintance."
"You interested in her?"
"No."
"Well, you've been staring at that door for a while now."
I simply looked at him with a blank expression. There was no need for him to state the obvious. But with him being like that, I suppose he would.
(Y/n)'s POV
I tried to cool down my red cheeks. Why did I just walk in like that? They looked busy and I had interrupted their meeting. I was such an idiot.
A noise in the bushes made me stop in my tracks. I listened for movement but it was silent again, as if I had just had imagined the sound...but my ears weren't that bad at detecting these noises.
A horrifying monster appeared in front of me, which made me scream out of shock and fear. Behind it was the man that had been chasing my brother and I for as long as I could remember.
"(Y/n), come without resisting and I won't harm you," he exclaimed.
"N-no, I won't."
"Then I'm afraid you'll just regret that poor decision of yours."
He sent the creature towards me. I felt my heartbeat increase dramatically as I continued to dodge its attacks. My breathing became rigged and fast as my eyesight blurred.
I relied mostly on my ears and sense of touch to move around, but I couldn't do this forever. The monster would eventually get me. I didn't have any special powers and abilities that I could use against it.
Once my vision cleared, the monster was in front of me with a long arm raised above my head, ready to smash me into the ground. I covered my mouth to prevent myself from screaming.
Suddenly, I felt someone cover my eyes from behind. Soon enough, I could no longer hear the roars of the creature. It was just silence. I could tell that the man had already made his escape.
"Are you alright?" asked a voice from behind.
"I-I'm fine. T-thank you, R-Rai."
I touched his hand but he stopped me from peeking.
"Don't look."
I didn't question his command and quietly waited for him to lead me back to the mansion.
Rai's POV
I let her see once we were back inside. That monster had 'exploded' once I destroyed it. The sight was too gruesome for this girl to witness. It even had a gas poisonous to the eyes that was released upon its destruction.
I looked at her face, only to notice tears welling up in her eyes. Maybe it was still a little risky to stay here. Her hair was a mess and her clothes were ruined.
"M-my eyes..."
"Close them."
She did as I said and gasped in surprise when I lifted her up in my arms. I went to the lord's place, where Frankenstein was currently talking to him.
They noticed me come in before realisation soon dawned on them. Frankenstein immediately came over and examined (Y/n). Her eyes had started bleeding.
I...couldn't protect her. Why?...I didn't consider all the consequences and possible ways of defeating that monster. It was my fault.
"Frankenstein, i-it hurts," she exclaimed quietly.
"It'll be over soon," he replied.
I put her to sleep before looking at the lord. He nodded in reply to my silent question. I took her to a spare room and put her down on the large bed before allowing Frankenstein to treat her.
I swear I would never allow this to happen again. I had failed to protect her, but next time...it'd be different.

It swings between action, drama, and sometimes some darker comedy. Warning: A whole lot of profanity, alcohol, drugs, implied violence, actual violence and mega-violence—the kind that involves knives sliding into eye sockets and brains spilling onto floors—the usual stuff, scenes of intimacy, mercenaries, pirates, lots of moral ambiguity, including a wizard that likes to make tea with the heat sucked from his victim's bodies and a heap of world-ending monsters ready to eat people. _______________ Expectations: Updates every Monday and Thursday. Chapters will be between 2,000 and 5,000 words. I'm Irish and write in "Irish English" which is to say that I don't use much of the letter "z"
