(Y/n)'s POV
I hurriedly headed to work, hoping desperately that they wouldn't come find me out. My workplace was the only location where I had found an irreplaceable light to guide my way.
Unfortunately, without darkness...there would be no light. I had forced myself to believe this ideology in order to trust the light that I had so yearningly wanted to believe in. But I had used it to believe that misfortune would befall me for eternity.
I greeted the numerous staff as I headed into the tall building. Swiping my card at the entrance, I walked to the elevator and went to one of the top floors.
My fatigued heartbeat immediately slowed down to a calm rhythm as I went further and further away from the malevolent shadows that had broken me in every single way.
The doors opened to reveal the person that always brought a smile to my face...my best friend, Kujo Tenn. He smiled as soon as I walked out. I did my best to push away the dark thoughts in my mind and greeted him with a grin.
"Ready for work?" he asked.
"Yeah, definitely."
"You're always so eager for this."
"Like you can say that."
"*laughs* I guess that's true."
We headed to Trigger's dance room. Gaku and Ryuu were already there, ready to start. Once they were in position, I started the music before going off to organise their schedule with other staff members.
I was only one of the minor managing staff but I was happy to be able to work with Trigger everyday. It was like a salvation from the hell I had escaped from at home.
"Hey (Y/n), call for you," someone told me.
I went over and answered. The voice on the other end was enough to drain all the blood from my body. My mother...was coming. I needed to go now before everyone witnessed my embarrassingly painful torture.

Someone placed a hand on my shoulder, making me jump. I turned around with wide, frightened eyes, only to calm down once I noticed that it was just Tenn.
"H-hey, what's up?"
"You okay?" he asked worriedly.
"Yeah, I just need a break. I'll be back in 10."
"...okay, sure."
I left the room and immediately went to the elevator. My palms were getting incredibly sweaty as my heartbeat once again became fast and unsteady.
*gulp* I-it was going to alright. Mother w-wasn't going to cause a scene in public. N-no, she wouldn't...couldn't...right? I n-needed to believe that.
I went to the lobby and noticed her walk through the revolving doors. She headed straight towards me. I held back a scream as she slapped me hard across the face. The loud sound of her hand hitting my cheek reverberated across the entire floor.
"(L/n) (Y/n), why the hell did you leave?! Huh?!" she asked angrily.
"I-I didn't-"
"Shut up!"
She slapped me again and again before dragging me away by my hair. Tears brimmed my eyes as she pulled roughly at the roots.
"M-mother, please s-stop..."
"What was that, you disgraceful daughter?! Talk back to me and you're dead! I promise you, your father will do much worse."
She pushed me with impossible strength, making me trip and fall. I cowered in fear as she walked closer and closer. My eyes squeezed shut, hoping to stop the overflowing tears.
For some reason, the pain never came. No kicks, no punches, nothing. I was gently pulled up, which caused me to open my eyes. Gaku was holding onto me, keeping my body upright.
I looked in front and saw Tenn holding onto my mother's arm. I couldn't see his expression but the one on my mother's was one of anger and concealed fear.

"Who are you? Let go this instance!" she yelled.
"Have you been treating (Y/n) like this everyday?" Tenn asked in a dangerously calm tone.
"That's none of your business, pretty boy. Now let go before I call the police."
"I think I should be the one calling the police."
"What's this? Sticking up for her, are you? What has she done? Seduce you, huh? Tch, pathetic girl."
"Gaku, take her up. She doesn't need to hear any of this."
Tenn's POV
I looked back to check if (Y/n) was gone. Gaku and Ryuu had left with her. My grip on her mother's arm tightened as I stared down at her in ferocious anger.
"What has (Y/n) ever done to you?"
"She existed, that's what," replied her mother.
"Why are you doing this? Because she's better than you in every way? Because you're jealous?"
"Stop mocking me. You'll regret it. Let go of my arm."
Ryuu sent me a text saying that they had called the police. I pushed her to the side before running towards the elevators. The guards stopped her from following me as I rushed to (Y/n).
She was in the lounge with a blanket over her body as she hugged her knees. Gaku and Ryuu were here, sitting in silence. Once they noticed me come in, the two stood and left after giving me a squeeze on the shoulders.
"(Y/n)."
"...um t-thank you for before. I um..."
She struggled to get her words out. I went to the couch and sat down beside her before pulling her into a hug. She cried quietly into my chest as I looked at the ceiling with a pained expression.
She may not have realised it but I loved her. I had fallen in love with her from the moment we became friends. It was hard for me to take in the fact that she had been abused by her parents every time she went home.
I didn't even know about it. I couldn't do anything to help her. But no, I couldn't do this now. She needed someone to lean on. I couldn't drown in regret, I needed to stay strong for her.
"(Y/n)-"
"I-I'm sorry, Tenn. I didn't mean to burden you with that. I didn't want my light to be tainted by the darkness..."
"Don't worry about me. I want to help you, so tell me anything and everything. I'll always be here for you."
"Thank you..."
She soon fell asleep, her breathing falling into a steady rhythm. I moved the hair away from her face and pulled the blanket tighter around her body. A vibration from my phone made me reluctantly drag my attention away from (Y/n).
Gaku: [photo]
Me: What the hell? Delete it
Gaku: No way, I'm keeping this. It'll be fun to tease you in the future when you two are dating
Me: What?!
Ryuu: What're we talking about?
Gaku: Tenn's marriage
Ryuu: He's getting married?! When?!
Me: Don't believe him. I'm not getting married any time soon
Ryuu: Awww, I was hoping we could have a celebration
Me: In your dreams
I left the conversation. *sigh* All they ever did was tease me whenever (Y/n) was around. I stared at her sleeping figure. She seemed so peaceful, completely unlike what she was feeling before.
She stirred in her sleep and moved so that her face was closer to mine. *blush* Damn, I couldn't stay like this forever. I needed to make her mine before I regretted it.
When would I be able to confess these passionate feelings of mine...(Y/n)?

Kichiro's Rampage
Meet Kichiro, the son of a samurai. A social outcast, he leaves his home with nothing but a musket and a sword, determined to carve himself a niche in a chaotic world of dragons and leviathans. This fiction incorporates LitRPG elements, but it's not set in a VR. It's set in a fantastical world based loosely on East Asia in the 16th and 17th Century, when the Ming Dynasty was on its last legs, with the addition of magic and monsters. I totally stole the stat tables from Exterminatus, the author of Everybody Loves Large Chests, so let me credit him for that. I'm new to writing so please don't hesitate to criticise, and reviews would be greatly appreciated.

A Siren's Call
I was a normal teenage girl but one day I was kidnapped. Everything changed after that. I saw the cruelty of the world. I had learned late about what I should fear more in life. I was granted a rebirth and a screen popped up in front of me. There were two choices: ‘New Life’ and ‘Revenge’. I wonder which I should choose. **A story about a girl who lost her sanity and falls deeper and deeper into the darkness.** WARNING: This story is not for the soft hearted. There are a lot of moments where you'd question my own sanity. Heck, I was disturbed at some moments as I write this story but I can't not write it! **DOUBLE WARNING: This is a very very very very dark story.** : p.s. I do not own the cover art in any way or form and found it using the almighty google-sensei.
