(Y/n)'s POV
I hesitantly knocked on the door to the mansion that stood before me. I was overcome with worry, my mind constantly filled with irritable thoughts that seemed to eat at my hope.
My memory did not fail me as the large door opened on its own. After taking a shaky breath, I stepped inside and curiously looked around the ancient hall. It had been years since I was last here.
"Who the hell are you?"
I turned around but couldn't stop the smile from forming on my face. The red-haired vampire seemed to remember me as a flash of recognition appeared on his face.
"(Y/n), geez...I can't believe you're here," he exclaimed.
"I'm sorry I left so suddenly. Oh, do you know where Shuu is?"
"Oi, we just met and you're already leaving me for him?"
"Hehe, sorry."
"*sigh* He's sleeping in his room."
I thanked him before hurrying to the second floor. Damn, which room was his? I went around knocking on each and every door before opening them.
This was useless. Shuu was in none of these rooms but I was positive that all of their rooms were here... There was a possibility that I missed a room so I went around checking them again.
I frowned. Did Ayato lie to me?! Ugh, that prankster! I should've known that he would never grow out of that habit! But before I got the chance to give him a beating, a pair of strong arms wrapped around me from behind.
"Ayato said that you were back," Shuu whispered sleepily.
"Yeah..."
"Where were you? Why did you leave?"
"I...had to. My dad got a job somewhere far away."
"You didn't even say goodbye..."

I winced as he sunk his fangs into my neck, but I didn't mind. I was just happy to see him again, after the ten years we had spent apart. I was heartbroken for so many years...
He stopped, seemingly worried about my condition. I waved it off as nothing but couldn't seem to stand upright for my vision was slightly blurred and my legs felt weak.
"(Y/n)."
"I'm alright..."
I leaned against his body, drowsy even though I had done nothing but escape from my parents' grasp. It wasn't a difficult journey...only risky. Without a second thought, I fell asleep in his arms.
Shuu's POV
(Y/n) was just like before...yet I felt an aching pain in my cold heart. Did I take too much blood? I must've been too thirsty for her...all those human girls that I had mercilessly killed could not even compare to (Y/n)'s blood.
I carried her to my room before placing her on my bed. That was when I felt another presence behind me, which undoubtedly irritated me. Could my idiotic brothers not leave me alone for once in their life?
"This is rare. For you to lend your beloved bed to a girl whom abandoned you," commented Reiji.
"Shut up. I'm not in the mood for your useless scolding."
"You're just deadbeat. I don't intend to have you carry around another unimportant mortal."
"Unimportant? If I remember correctly, you used to play 'nerd games' with her. You said that she was the only worthy opponent."
"W-when did I s-say such a thing? Stop spewing lies."
"Leave me alone."
I aimed a punch at him, angry that he was interrupting my time with (Y/n) but my fist only hit the wall behind him, creating a giant dent. He had already teleported elsewhere, which was perfectly fine with me.

*sigh* I laid down beside (Y/n) and pulled her closer. I wanted the warmth coming off her body...it had been so long since we last slept like this...
She moved in her sleep before unconsciously moving closer to me. *blush* I closed my eyes, trying to ignore the stupid feeling that had been hidden in my heart. It was impossible for me to love her...
(Y/n)'s POV
~1 hour later~
I yawned and stretched my arms. My eyes opened before I jumped back in shock. Shuu's face was so close to mine...our noses were almost touching...
He looked cute when he slept even though so many years have passed. Hesitantly, I reached out to touch his hair. It was as soft as I had imagined it to be...damn, I must've sounded like a crazy cat lady or something.
His eyes suddenly opened but before I could move away, he grabbed my arm and kissed me. It took me a moment to process this. After a short while, I shyly kissed back but he just kissed harder.
"Don't leave me," he exclaimed softly.
"I'm not sure-"
The look in his eyes made me stop mid-sentence. A pang of guilt overwhelmed me. I had hurt him by leaving him and I had known this for all these years, yet I had never had the courage to come to terms with this.
"...I won't leave."
"Is that an empty promise?" he asked.
"I'm not joking. I won't leave again."
"Not ever?"
"You sound as worried as a child about to lose his beloved childhood toy. I'm never going to leave you, not ever."
"...why did you come back now?"
"My dad had a job here so we came back. Once he found out that you guys were vampires, he forbade me from seeing you but I ran away from home. You guys aren't monsters...you're my friends."
"You ran away from home?"
"Yeah."
"Are you...okay?"
"Don't worry, I'm fine."
He closed his eyes and wrapped an arm around my body, as if to prevent me from leaving.
"Don't tell me you're gonna sleep again..."
"What's wrong with sleeping?" he asked, already drifting off.
"...nevermind. Sweet dreams, Shuu."
His soft breathing tickled my ears. I moved so that I was no longer trapped in his surprisingly tight grasp and sat up. It had started to rain lightly outside but the moon still shone brightly.
A knock on the door interrupted me from my thoughts. I reluctantly went to get it and immediately regretted my action. Ayato had thrown a water balloon at my face while Laito had the largest smirk on his face.
"You two idiots!"
"*laughs* We better run before she loses it," Ayato exclaimed.
"I've already lost it, you damn moron! Get back here! You too, Laito!"
"(Y/n)."
I angrily turned around but Shuu simply pointed to my shirt, which had turned see-through.
"Those...damn...perverts!"

The Only Survivor
I want revenge. However, to get revenge, I need information. And for information, I need answers. Yet to get answers, I need power. But for power, I need to survive. They made a grave mistake leaving me alive and locking me in a dungeon cell. They will live to regret it. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ This is a story in a fantasy world with lots of fantastical elements, including magic and cultivation. However, there's also some decent technology in this world. Gaining power has a system and nothing comes out of nowhere. Essentially, the setting and background is high fantasy but the focus will be whatever the MC sees, so expect more of a gritty realistic low fantasy most of the time. The MC is not OP and uses his wits and strategy to survive, and maybe even thrive. The warning tags are just there because I don't want any limits to where this story may lead me to writing. *I don't own the cover*
