Terra's POV
"It's my win."
Uno's mouth dropped open, unable to contain his shock. His gaze searched my hazel-green eyes but I couldn't give anything away. It was simply pure luck that I had won this game of poker.
"Hand over the snacks."
"Tch, I won't lose next time," he exclaimed grumpily.
Giving him a discreet nod as a reply to his challenge, I bit into the chips and watched as Rock held him in a headlock and teased the blonde male for his loss.
"Aww, what a shame. To think if you won then Terra would go on a date with you," Rock said with a laugh.
"Shut up. It's not like none of you like her either," Uno replied.
"Ne Terra, Hajime told me to bring these to you," exclaimed Nico.
"Ah geez, even Hajime has the hots for her," Rock commented.
Taking the basket of fresh strawberries from Nico, I happily plopped one in my mouth and savoured the sweet juice flowing down my throat. Offering to share them with the others, I placed the basket on the ground.
They all smiled gratefully at me. Despite my stubborn and bluntly honest personality, I cared for these four inmates with whom I shared a cell with. They were...my best friends.
"Hey Terra, I found a pink gem similar to the one on your forehead," Jyugo said, giving me the small stone.
"Strange..."
"Were you born with that?" Uno asked.
"I guess? I don't remember."
Holding the gem up to inspect it in the sunlight, I squinted and tried to catch a glimpse of some sort of mythical mystery surrounding the gems. With a sigh, I lowered my arm only to have the stone float out of my grasp.
It touched the one on my forehead, surrounding the room in a blinding light. All five of us were forced to shut our eyes as compelling blasts of wind whipped around us. Their hands immediately found my arms as the wind got stronger.

Within seconds, everything was calm again. Cautiously opening my eyes, I noticed that we were no longer stuck in our prison cell. A large mansion stood before us, as if warding off all those who were trespassing.
What the hell happened? Where were we? The others looked just as confused as I was. My mind struggled to put the pieces together. Were we teleported to an unknown area? But that wasn't possible...
"Who are you?"
Nico's hand found mine as the others stood in front of us, wary of the man with glasses who had come out.
"We should be asking you that," Uno replied.
"Are you perhaps prisoners? What are you doing in front of the Sakamaki mansion?"
"Oi, answer our question!" Rock demanded.
"Yeah, what's the Saka...what mansion? Where are we?" added Nico.
"What's with all the ruckus?" asked a red-haired male.
His gaze slipped to my face before moving down to my chest. His suggestive smirk angered me, making me summon a sword from my inventory.
"Hey Terra, what's wrong?" Jyugo asked.
"I don't like this place."
"What a shame. I quite like what I'm seeing, little girl," said a guy wearing a fedora hat.
"Oi, I wouldn't call her little if I were you," Jyugo said.
Glaring at the six - admittedly attractive - men in front of me, I held out my sword, ready to attack at the first sign of offence. Suddenly, Uno wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me closer to his body.
"Don't you all go staring at our precious Terra like that. She doesn't belong to you," he exclaimed.
"Well, I doubt she belongs to you either," said the purple-haired boy.
"I really want to pierce that tanned skin of yours. Be mine," fedora hat demanded.
"Laito, I suggest you stop with that disgusting talk," ordered glasses.

"Ne Teddy, do you think she'll let us braid her long buckwheat hair? It looks so soft..." Mr. Purple said.
"Shut up. It's getting too noisy," exclaimed the blonde male.
"Oi, don't ignore us! Who the hell are you people?" Rock asked.
"*sigh* If it will stop your shouting then I shall introduce myself and my annoying brothers. I'm Reiji and the eldest over there is Shuu. The triplets are Ayato, Kanato and Laito. That's the youngest, Subaru."
"Hmm...I'm Nico. That's Uno, Rock and Jyugo but of course, we can't forget about Terra."
Subaru was the first to break the tense silence afterwards.
"Where did you come from?" asked Subaru.
"Nanba Prison."
"What? I've never heard of it but that must explain the number 7 tattooed over your eye."
"Well, I've never heard of the Saka whatever mansion either."
"Short and feisty, I like that," commented Ayato.
"Shut it, you arrogant jerk."
"Stop bullying Terra. She's really scary when she gets mad," Uno warned.
"She already looks intimidating, what with her tattoos and the way she holds herself. Plus, that orange jumpsuit doesn't really make her look...nice either," Reiji replied.
"Hmm, even Reiji's getting dirty ideas in his head. What's your definition of nice then, Reiji?" Laito asked.
"She seems like the quiet type. I want her," said Shuu.
Uno gestured towards them before making a twirling motion beside his head. I couldn't help but smile, knowing how funny he made it seem. Suddenly, Subaru grabbed him by his shirt.
"What did you just call us?!"
"Nothing, I was simply saying how much I wanted to brush my teeth. I haven't cleaned today. Oh, and I need to curl my hair. It gets a little messy," Uno replied.
This time, I was laughing. Rock and Nico joined in. That was, until Subaru aimed a punch for his jaw. I immediately ran forward and held a dagger to the male's throat, threatening him with my eyes.
Without warning, Ayato had my arms above my head with his head dangerously close to my neck. I tried shaking him off but his strength was inhuman...I gasped as he bit into my skin and sucked my blood.
The warm, scarlet liquid flowed into his mouth, his green eyes glowing. I managed to pull away, holding two pistols in front of me. The six men were surrounded by dangerous auras, emblematic of their true colours.
"V-vampires..."
"You hurt Terra. We can't forgive you," Jyugo said through gritted teeth.
"Damn, your blood's so sweet. You belong to yours truly now."
"We need some as well, don't we, Teddy?"
"Like hell we'll let you hurt Terra anymore!" Rock exclaimed angrily.
"Yeah, that's right. You guys have been staring at her with dirty looks in your eyes. I don't like it," added Nico.
I pulled the trigger, the bullet just grazing Ayato's cheek. He licked the blood dripping down his chin, completely unfazed by his minor injury. Next time, I wouldn't miss.
"Why don't we stop this brawl and go inside? We can discuss our paths from there," Reiji suggested although it was clear that he seemed irritated by the fact that he had to let strangers into his house.
"Any dirty tricks and you're all dead."
"Hmm, precious Terra, we'll just have to change your mind about that," Laito replied.
"As if we'll let you," Uno exclaimed in a low, angry tone.
How did I...get myself into such a twisted situation?

Fortuna Verto
A girl’s luck changes when her world changes upon itself, sending her back and forth between a world she knows and another that shouldn’t even exist. Working with her parallel self from that other world, the two must adjust to their alternate form when visiting the other’s world, as they search for a way to escape the chains of misfortune they are bound to. While this story is the conclusion of the trilogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, as the world of Celese itself is no longer a place the characters will be journeying through. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for all previous books, in case that matters to anyone. This book has an additional chapter after the final chapter that represents the trilogy conclusion, and should not be read until all three books are read first. Fortuna Verto continues the events of Essentia Animus to advance society into a sci-fi interpretation of Celese, bringing events to a distant world of another star. At the same time, events interpret a real-world advancement into a similar sci-fi age of another planet that shares Earth’s galaxy, a planet that has also been linked by the Celesi Veil. English remains predominant in both worlds of the story, but the presence of both sides makes certain Aethyx terms stand out, while Earth-styled scientific terms will also stand in a powerful contrast. Instrumentation remains an important aspect of the Elemental Era, but the influence of the gift has grown distant after discovering the superiority of the elements. Harnessing the elements had eliminated some of the original limitations of instrumentation, allowing for a self-sustaining focal source that provides solutions to problems such as automation. This turns the development available from the previous modern-day sense of a fantasy to one that is deep-future. Finally, opening access to the passage across the veil will open this progress in comparison to a very similar deep-future parallel world without such fantasy elements, contrasting the laws of physics with the laws of elements in a convergence of time and space.
