(Y/n)'s POV
"Get your hands off me!"
The guards paid no mind to my resistance and locked the metal door, confining me to a restricted cell that lay on the border of foulness and a smell just short of intolerable.
Kicking the wall in anger, I immediately began picking the lock with the bobby pin in my hair. The lock's mechanisms were by far the most advanced I've seen in my prison life but nothing a little beating up couldn't fix.
Grabbing the pistols from the hidden compartment in my metal leg, I aimed and hit the bullseye without a single miss in my ten shots. The door jarred open just slightly but enough for my body to fit through.
Swallowing a triumphant laugh, I headed outside and started to make a swift but quiet run along the corridors. Nanba Prison...this place couldn't hold me. Their empty threats did nothing to stimulate fear within my mind. It only added fuel to my determination to escape.
While running, I sensed movement in the hallway on my right. Hiding behind a wall, I held up a pistol and stood still, waiting for the chance to shoot whoever came my way.
Once a figure came into view, I immediately ran towards them and knocked them down. Pushing their face to the ground, I pointed the pistol at their head while holding their hands behind their back.
"Oi, let him go!"
"You're...inmates?"
I stood back and let the guy with dark hair go. He rubbed his wrists and looked at me with a pout. I hastily apologised for my rash actions but did not harbour any sympathy for the boy.
"Are you trying to escape?" asked the blondie.
"Yeah."
"Heh, so are we. I'm Uno, that's Jyugo, Rock and Nico."

"(Y/n)."
"So why are you in prison?" Rock asked.
"Robbery and gambling."
"Are you a cyborg?" Jyugo asked while staring at my metal leg.
"Yeah, I got my left leg amputated after falling off my bike and rolling down a steep hill."
"Ouch, that must've hurt," commented Nico.
"You guys! Get back in your cells!"
"Oh no, Hajime's caught up with us already?! We better get going!" Uno yelled.
Pulling Jyugo to his feet, I quickly dragged him along while catching with the others. Rock hauled Jyugo onto his back, saving me the trouble of having to carry a deadweight around.
Glancing back, I noticed the guard closing in on us. If we kept going on like this, he'd catch up in no time. Planting my feet down, I turned around to face the bald man. He raised an eyebrow.
"Oi (Y/n), what are you doing?!" Rock asked, shocked.
"Buying some time. What can a puny guard like him do?"
"Hey, I don't think that's a good idea. He's crazy strong..." Jyugo warned.
"I'm not the daughter of my father for nothing."
Swiftly avoiding the punch from the guard, I shot three bullets towards him. To my surprise, he dodged them almost effortlessly. Gritting my teeth, I quickly grabbed a dagger from my belt and attempted close combat.
"You have skills, kid," he commented.
"I know, no need to state the obvious."
"But not enough to beat me!"
"Watch out!" Uno yelled.
I shielded my head but the impact of his fist never came. Forcing my eyes open, I noticed Jyugo making a cross in front of me with blades that seemed to meld into his arms. Blinking back my surprise, I saw the guard stop his punch just short of cutting his own fist.

"Jyugo..."
"(Y/n), let's go. Hajime's no match for us even if we attacked him all at once," he said.
Suddenly, Hajime grabbed Jyugo's arm and swung him until his body hit the wall, leaving a giant dent. Swallowing my shock, I shot two bullets at his hand to keep him from touching Jyugo.
"Tch, for someone with such impressive blades, you sure are weak."
"Ugh...(Y/n)..."
"Get up."
I stood in front of him, glaring at the guard that stood before me. Uno immediately ran over to give Jyugo a hand.
"It's been a while since I've last had a decent fight."
"Oi gorilla! The warden's looking for you!"
"Huh?! But I've got to capture these inmates."
"Sucks to be you."
I gestured towards the others. We ran off, leaving the two guards dumbfounded and irritated. Smirking, I ran with a triumphant glint in my eyes as the guards chased after us.
~Some time later~
Angrily hitting the wall, I sat down on the floor. The others all looked at me with worry. Hajime had needed to leave in a hurry after apprehending us so we were kept in the same cell for the time being.
"Hey (Y/n), thanks for saving me..." exclaimed Jyugo.
"No problem."
He stood up but tripped over his own feet and stumbled towards me. I was a step too late in backing away. He fell on me, his lips connecting with mine.
Freezing shock still, I waited for him to get off but he simply nibbled on my lips. Nico quickly pulled him away, leaving me wide eyed and a blushing mess. What...just happened?
"Jyugo, apologise," Uno ordered.
"Sorry...your lips...just tasted...like candy..."
"*blush* What the hell?! Baka!"
I glared at the floor, feeling angry for that slight bit of excitement that I had felt for a split second. Risking a glance at the dark-haired boy, I noticed that he also had a dark blush on his cheeks.
"Aww, we have a couple here!" Nico exclaimed happily.
"Definitely not happening."
"Why not? You're basically a match made in heaven," Uno replied.
"Yeah, even I can see the potential," stated Rock.
"You three can shut the hell up or else I'll do it for you."
"S-sorry (Y/n), I meant to give you this (f/f) lollipop...you seemed upset..." Jyugo apologised.
I looked up at him and took the small treat from his outstretched hand. A smile tugged at my mouth as I took in the awkward yet cute way in which he presented himself.
"Thanks. I'll let you off this time."
He smiled, seemingly similar to a child being praised. If...I did end up falling in love with him...I wasn't sure if I would be able to accept it. After all, I had gotten hurt using this pointless thing called love. It was nothing but a poison to one's body.
"Hey (Y/n), are you okay?" Uno asked.
"Yeah, I'm perfectly fine."
Sucking on the lollipop, I stared at everyone but Jyugo was the only one that met my gaze. The others were nonexistent in this short moment in which we understood each other for a split second. Love was...impossible.

The Nightcore Trilogy
Going to space was supposed to be the adventure of a lifetime, but for Reece Danielson and his crew, it was only the beginning. As the fresh astronauts aboard the Zhengzhou International Space Station start their on-the-job training, Reece is shown a discovery that changes his entire worldview. It isn’t long before a tragic accident aboard the station sets off a series of events that not only puts the crew in danger but at odds with each other. The events quickly escalate into a man-made apocalyptic incident on the surface of the planet. A virulent plague is prematurely released which transforms everyone into flesh-eating undead, and that is only the beginning of the troubles. There are far worse things down there than zombies and possibly a few of them lurk on the station itself. The Nightcore Trilogy thematically begins with a heavy sci-fi feel coupled to a gritty space-based horror mystery. The story's layers are slowly peeled back, evolving into something much more supernatural, mythological, and high-fantasy-based. It's a mix of elements from survival horror, zombie apocalypses, ancient mythologies, supernatural stories, and harem anime. It contains semi-descriptive sex scenes (traditional and non-traditional), descriptions of gore, profanity, and adult situations, so I recommend it for mature and open-minded audiences only.
