━︎━︎ IN WHICH SOMEONE FOLLOWS HER
Edith knew she was being followed after she had left the graveyard. She started to walk a bit faster and entered a crowd of people in busy London.
Suddenly someone grabbed her arm and covered her mouth with their hand, muffling any noise she was making, discretely pulling her out of the crowd and into a deserted alleyway. She tried to fight the person off of her but their grasp on her arm was too strong.
"Let me go you blithering idiot!" She exclaimed as the person twisted her arms over her chest, making her arms useless to her use.
"Once I get you to the peelers and they give me my prize money I'll let you go" the male voice hissed into her ear.
"Let go!" She demanded as she tried to free her arms, but it was useless.
Suddenly an idea came into her mind as she stopped trying to get out of the man's grasp. Edith breathed heavily as she waited for the right time.
He slightly loosened his grip on her arms, giving her the perfect opportunity bend her leg backwards and kick him where the sun doesn't shine. The man in a black bowler hat quickly let go and held onto the area where Edith had just kicked him.
"Nice hat, sir" Edith said and with that she took the black bowler hat off of his head, putting it on her own head "I would stay to chat but I don't want to be arrested. Good day to you, sir". So with that she ran out of the alleyway, the bottom of her dark blue dress soaking in water from the puddles on the floor. She ignored the stares she was getting and ran towards where she and Enola were currently living — now with Flower Boy.

But what surprised her was the sight of Viscount Tewkesbury jumping down from the window with panic washed over his paled face as his widened eyes roamed the area.
Edith ran up to him and once he saw her Tewkesbury grabbed her hand and begun to run in a random direction.
In that moment, running was probably not the best option as it caused several people to look at you, and when your faces are plastered on multiple wanted and missing posters it was an even worse idea, but Tewkesbury didn't think in that moment, he was too overwhelmed with everything that had just happened and Edith was too in shock of what was happening currently.
"What are you doing?!" Edith whisper shouted as the two passed several people in the crowd.
"They found us" He told her as he slightly tightened his grip on her hand to make sure he wouldn't lose her in the crowd.
"Who might I ask?!"
"I'm not sure"
"What about Enola?! Is she safe?!" Edith asked as the two entered an alleyway that was away from the larger crowds of people. Tewkesbury stayed silent as he paced the width of the area whilst Edith was giving him a look.
He looked hesitant as he leaned against the wall of a building and scratched the back of his neck "she told me to go and find you" Tewkesbury said through light pants as he tried to calm his breathing after all that had happened.
"And you left her?!" Edith asked in disbelief, her voice almost breathless.
"I'm sure she can fend for herself!" Tewkesbury argued.
"You're unbelievable!"
"Yeah, and what about you? Where have you been!? I was worried sick! You can't just leave without saying where you are going! You're wanted in the whole country, Edith! You could've at least told us where you were going!" Tewkesbury yelled as he took a step towards her, but she took one back.

She could see the worry evident in his face but it didn't dismiss the fact that he was treating her like a child and had just yelled at her like she'd committed the worst crime possible.
"Don't treat me like a child! You're basically one yourself. I can take care of myself and don't need your help! And you know what, it's not my problem that your life is in danger, but I want to help you, because I feel like I'm being pulled towards you!".
There was an angry tension between them as they both breathed heavily through their nostrils, the nice atmosphere from before in the market was gone and Edith didn't want it back, at least not yet.
"Forget it" she breathed out and turned on her heels to leave the alleyway but was stopped by his voice, this time softer and calmer.
"Wait"
Edith slowly turned around with dried tears staining her cheeks as he himself had his eyes brimmed with tears, making them redden. She knew her anger was unnecessary in this moment, but she couldn't control it.
"Look. . .it's alright if you don't want to tell me where you went, because I understand you've been through some things my pea brain could never comprehend but I need to know that you were safe" he said softly as he looked into her deep blue eyes.
Edith stared at the brick wall behind them and contemplated telling him the truth. She didn't want him to worry more than he already was and they had to make sure Enola was safe.
"I was safe" Edith lied as she avoided eye contact with the boy.
Tewkesbury nodded slowly as he bit the inside of his lip, not entirely believing the girl but not wanting them to get on even worse terms than they were already on.
There was awkward tension now that replaced the anger between them. It was weird, to say the most. They had never felt like that with each other.
"We should stick together, find Enola" Tewkesbury said and Edith nodded her head as she tucked the loose strands of hair from her face to behind her ears.
"Right, let's find Enola"

Sanguis
In a world inhabited by vampires, various factions are vying for dominance, whether through wars or grueling tournaments. In the midst of the conflict, two unsuspecting humans become caught in the battle. Note: My first story on here, I wanted to try writing a story with battles and leveling up, the kind of story where a character starts at the bottom and world their way up. I hope this story is a good chance to see what works and try out a few different ideas I’ve had.
