Nice. I got good sleep thanks to Sasha who was snoring. Thank you, Sasha.

Good thing I went outside to sleep. It's more better than someone snoring below you.

And good thing for sleeping outside, I got enough sleep as we are now standing in front of a row of contraptions.

"First off, we'll test your aptitude" Shadis shouted as usual "those capable of this aren't even suitable to even use as decoys"

People were trying to go on it and it seem it looked difficult.

Once a person was done, I was next so I went on it.

I thought it was difficult but it wasn't.

It was only balancing as I used my upper body and I was relaxed and calm.

I noticed on my left that Eren was on it but upside down.

How can Eren not do this?

"What are you doing Yeager! Use your upper body!" Shadis shouted as Eren was still upside down.

People were snickering and murmuring to each other as I grew angry.

Just wait and see what karma does to you.

I was sitting on the ground leaning on the pole of the manoeuvre strap thing as Mikasa was lecturing Eren who was on the strap device.

The sunset was as beautiful as it is.

"Follow the basics and you should be fine. Don't think about doing it well or anything" Mikasa said as Armin was standing on the opposite side of me as he stood beside the lever to raise Eren. "Pay attention to your front and rear balance and gently rest your weight upon the belts on your waist and the back of your legs"

"Take it slow and you'll be okay" Armin spoke "Even I could do it after all"

"Ok. I think I could do it this time" Eren said seemingly unsure.

"You could do it, little bro. After all, You're related to me so, of course, you can do it" I said as I gave him a thumbs up "Raise him, Armin"

"Okay" Armin began to rotate the lever as Eren was lifted off the ground.

But got turned upside down and bumped his head on the ground with a loud thud.

"Ouch. That's gotta hurt" I winced as if I felt the pain and got up.

Well, Eren's gonna depend on lady luck tomorrow.

People around us were talking poop about Eren as I continued to eat.

Eren had a bandage around his head due to the fall.

I caught a glimpse of small smoke above Eren's head as I raised my eyebrow due to how smoke is above his head. Is he's head on fire or something?

"Eren" Mikasa gripped Eren's shoulder causing a small crack to be heard.

Poor Eren.

"Don't pay them any mind" Armin spoke beside me. "You still have tomorrow to get the hang of it"

"Losers think that they're gonna stay alive just because they did something so simple" I whispered.

"How pathetic," Eren said with no hope "at this rate, Exterminating them is..."

"You shouldn't aim for that anymore" Mikasa spoke as Armin and Eren looked startled as I got no expression from it.

"What did you say?"

Mikasa wants to protect you as much I want to. Surviving is a choice. I could exterminate all the titans in the world just for you Eren. That's what I promised to mom.

"I said you shouldn't aim to be a soldier" Mikasa answered "After all throwing your life away isn't the way to fight"

"Look at me!" Eren spoke "On that day, I witnessed everything that happened. Do you think I'm gonna give up because of something like this?"

You forgot the 'we', Eren.

"But your resolution has nothing to do with this" Mikasa answered.

"What? Why"

"Because the one that decides whether or not you can become a soldier isn't you" Mikasa spoke.

I look down at my hands as I respoke Mikasa's words.

'Mikasa you're wrong. As long as you have the ambition and loyalty of a soldier. You'll be a soldier even if it means dying

I looked at Eren, who was spacing out.

'Eren. Somehow, whenever I look at you a spark of hope comes through my body as if it's a real spark

The bell rang indicating that it's the end of dinner as I stood up with my tray.

"Let's go, Armin"

"O-okay" Armin replied to Eren as the two went away leaving me and Mikasa.

"It's not like I'm telling you to return to reclaimed land by yourself" I heard Mikasa say. "Don't worry. At the time, I'll go with you"

I saw Sasha Blouse seat beside Mikasa as I sat back again.

"Um, so.." Sasha asked pointing at Mikasa's bread "Are you saying I can have that?"

I began to cover my mouth from showing my smile.

Mikasa held the bread to Sasha but Mikasa ate it before Sasha could take it.

"Hahahaha" I laughed as Sasha was definitely disappointed.

"Come on Mikasa" I spoke as I went up to her and patted her shoulder "Time to go to our dorms"

I inhaled and exhaled as soon as I plumped myself on my bed.

"Y/N, do you have an extra pillow?" Mikasa asked above me as I threw a pillow upwards as she caught it saying a thank u.

I look over on the other side as I saw Sasha bothering Annie.

Annie was the girl beside me on the first day.

That reminds me. I don't know much about Annie other than her name.

"Hey Annie" I spoke as silence was answered. "Oi oi if you don't answer me, I'll be twice as annoying as Sasha if you don't answer me!"

Sasha gave me a fake offended look and stop bothering me as she went up the bunk bed and eventually slept.

Don't worry though. I and Sasha are good friends at times and we even stole food from the kitchen.

"Tsk. You're just like your brother " I heard Annie say. "What is it?"

"Where are you from?" I said wishing that she would answer me.

"Shiganshina," Annie spoke as she covered her face with a pillow.

"Well, then you answered my question. Ask me a question so it'll be fair"

"What are you? five?"

"Sheesh. Such a brat. Just question me"

"Fine. How old are you?" Annie asked with no interest but that wouldn't stop me from answering...

"21"

"Hm. You're older than all of us." She spoke as I heard her snore.

"Bloody hell. I feel so old. Well, then there is a saying that the more you age the wiser you are" I spoke as I closed my eyes and went to sleep.

Blackness engulfed me as two girls were sitting on a stump. This was definitely a dream.

"Are you okay, Ella?" Ymir asked a girl who looked like me as the two sat on a stump.

The girl who Ymir was talking to had the same hair colour and eyes like me as she smiled and nod at Ymir.

"I'm okay, Ymir"

"Eren Yeager, are you prepared?" Shadis asked as he stood in front of Eren who was attached to the aptitude thing.

Everyone was watching including me.

You can do it Eren. You're my brother.

"Sir!" He said as he looked a little nervous.

"Begin" Shadis spoke as a person began to rotate the lever making Eren take off the ground.

Something smells fishy or is it just me?

"I believe in you Eren," I said to myself as I gave a smile looking at Eren who had successfully balanced himself in the air.

But wait. In the corner of my eyes, I saw something different in Eren's belt. It was missing a few screws compared to mine.

So if Eren's belt was broken then how is he still balancing himself.

Everyone cheered.

Even if it were just a few seconds, Eren was upside down.

"I-I... I can still..." Eren tried to lift himself.

I went beside Shadis as I tapped him.

"What is it Yeager number 2?" Shadis spoke despite the crowd.

"Eren's belt is broken, Sir" I whispered.

"Let him down" Shadis ordered as Eren was released.

"I-I..." Eren looked scared and disappointed.

"Wagner, switch belts with Yeager" Shadis spoke.

"Y-yes, sir!" A boy spoke as he and Eren exchanged belts as I went back beside Annie.

"What was that?" She asked with the same boring eyes

"Eren's belt is broken" I spoke as Eren got into the air and was balancing well.

"You had defective equipment. The metal fixtures on your belt were damaged. Though this is the first I've heard of faulty fixtures. It seems there's a need to start checking them during maintenance." Shadis explained.

So if Eren's belt was broken, then who in the world could damage it?

"Then what about my aptitude evaluation?" Eren asked.

" I see no issues. Devote yourself in training." Shadis spoke.

A smile formed on my face as Eren celebrated.

'That brat thinks he proved to Mikasa that he doesn't need to depend on her but all Mikasa wants was to keep Eren safe. The same thing I want. Well done Eren'

I looked at Mikasa, Armin, Bertoldt and Reiner.

'I'll protect those who have befriended me. To the point, I risk my life for it'
