George hadn't been in America for long. Maybe a few weeks, but he and Dream had already gotten closer than they had expected. They went on a few dates, Dream was the sweetest gentleman you could imagine and everything seemed so perfect, but for George? It was so much to process.
He had been on his own for so long, waiting for the time he could finally be with his friends and now that he was and there was a potential romance in coming, he wished for nothing more to be alone again.
Just for a few days, cause this was all to much for him.
It wasn't like he didn't enjoy being here and it wasn't like he wasn't happy about Dream being so lovey-dovey with him, but he just never knew how to react. To anything.
So he decided to just take a break.
A few days in which he wouldn't talk to the other except for when it was necessary.
But he made that plan without Dream.
Every morning Dream would be so happy to see him, would hug him from behind while he made breakfast, ask him how he slept and told him he was so happy that he was here and asked him if they maybe wanted to go on a little date. A picnic maybe or dinner and movies.
But George would just shake his head every time, mumble a quiet: "Sorry" and leave the kitchen only a few moments later.
And one morning Dream couldn't take it anymore he stopped George from walking out, held him so tight that George thought he was scared he would evaporate into thin air of he let go.
"What did I do wrong? Please, tell me. I'm sorry, I'm really sorry.", the blonde mumbled, on the verge of tears, "I'm so confused, George, please talk to me"

George's eyes widened. He didn't realize what a big deal this could be.
"You didn't do anything wrong.", he said and Dream broke away from the hug, looking into his eyes. "Then what's wrong? George, I wanna help you, with whatever it is that makes you distance yourself."
"I'm fine, I just- I don't know", George mumbled, before he looked at the ground.
Dream waited, patiently waiting for answers that might fix his confusion and fears.
"I don't know how to act when everyone is so excited and happy or when you're so lovely and sweet. I was alone for so long, I just don't know how to act around people.", George finally replied, "I'm sorry."
"No, that's okay. George, don't be sorry.", Dream said quickly, gently holding his face, "Maybe just need to get used to it again, just tell us if we're getting to much and tell me when I need to stop sometimes. I just want you to be happy, okay? I would never want to overstep your boundaries."
George nodded. "I just really don't know what's wrong with me, cause I really want to be with you and I enjoy when you get all sweet and lovey-dovey. I just don't know how to react without messing things up."
"Honestly, seeing you blush at some comments is already more than enough for me", Dream replied shyly and George felt a smile tugging on his lips.
"Do you think watching a show and cuddling would be something we could do? Or do you want time alone?", Dream asked.
George looked at him with a smile.
"I think we could try", he said and Dream started smiling. "I'm gonna get snacks and blankets!", he announced excitedly and was about to leave the room, when George reached for his hand and stopped him.

A bit confused Dream turned around to look at him, but quickly felt soft lips on his.
The blondes eyes widened, this was their first kiss.
His heart was beating so rapidly, George could feel it under his fingertips, where his hands rested on Dreams chest.
When George broke away slowly, Dream chased after his lips, kissed him again, slowly and softly.
"That came out of nowhere", Dream mumbled with a smile when they broke away.
"I just realized that it was the time and that you're the one.", George whispered and Dream softly replied: "Can I tell you, that I love you already? Or should we wait with that?" "No, you can tell me.", George replied forehead leaned against Dreams.
Dream smiled, kissed the tip of Georges nose and with a fond look in his eyes he said: "I love you, George."
"I love you too, Dream."
