I sucked in a breath.

"C-colby." I whispered as he cracked a grin, "I want to marry you. I know you're not ready, and I don't care how long it takes for you to be ready. I want you to be mine forever," he said as I examined his face. I waited for him to yell that it was a prank and that he didn't mean it.

He never did.

I couldn't wrap my head around the idea. I loved him, of course I did. I loved him more than I have ever loved anyone but the thought that he could love me enough to want to spend the rest of his life with me left me speechless. "Cora?" He said and grabbed my hands, shaking them slightly. "I want you to marry me." I blurted out and watched as the smile bloomed on his face. "One day. I promise." He said and kissed me gently. "Now I think it's time to get ready, you gonna be okay?" He said and wiped away the wetness that was left on my cheeks. "Yeah, I'll be okay. I'm sorry." I said softly and looked up at him, "don't be sorry baby. Never be sorry" he said and got up, walking to the closet. I watched him as he searched for the perfect outfit.

He pulled his shirt off and I admired the way his muscles flexed. I admired his tattoos and how the x on his back would dance with his muscles. I don't know what I did to deserve him. He was perfection and I don't know how he fell for me. He turned around and looked at me, "what?" He laughed out as I smiled. "I love you." I whispered and admired him. "I love you too." He said and lunged towards me sending me into a fit of giggles. He picked me up and slung me over his shoulder then turned back to the closet. "Colby!" I laughed out as he let me dangle from his shoulder, "what should I wear?"'he mumbled to himself, completely unbothered. "Put me down!" I laughed and swatted at his ass. He laughed, "what's the magic word?" He said and pulled out a shirt from the closet. "Please!" I giggled out causing him to lower me to my feet. "What was the point of that?" I said as he pulled me to him by my waist. "I just wanted to hear you laugh." He mumbled and let his eyes roam my face, taking in my features.

"You always make me laugh." I whispered as he brought his hand to my cheek, caressing it gently. We had been so in love recently, and so happy. I was starting to get nervous that it would go south. Everything else in my life has fallen apart, but he was always here. He never showed any resentment towards me for being so broken, he always helped. He never called me a cry baby or made me feel like I was inferior for any reason. He loved me. He loved me more than anyone I have ever met and I really didn't know how to deal with that.

"You ready to go?" He said and laced his fingers through mine, "yeah. I'm ready." I said as we made our way out of the room. "There you guys are! Took you long enough." Kat said and crossed her arms playfully. "Yeah yeah yeah, cry baby had another episode." I said with a laugh, "shut up, you're not a cry baby." Kat said and smacked my arm lightly. "I totally am, but anyways we need to go. Where's Jake and Tara?" I said looking around. "They are in the car, let's goooo!" Sam said and ran out of the house goofily. Colby shrugged and ran after him, mimicking his movements. I laughed and linked arms with Kat. "We really won the lottery with them." I mumbled and she smirked, "we did." She said and I bit my lip, "thanks for introducing me to Colby..I don't know where I would be without either of you." I said as we walked out to the car. "Cora, I'm so happy for you. When we first met you almost never smiled. You didn't have any light behind your eyes. But once you met Colby I saw you brighten up, I'm so glad you have eachother." She said and pulled me into a hug. "Kat!!! You're gonna make me cry again!" I whined. "I'm sorry!! I can't help it that your hormones are going all over the place!" She laughed out.

"I forgot about that! I don't think these are pregnancy hormones though, I'm just emotional, oh god I'm gonna be a wreck later in the pregnancy." I said and rested my hand on my stomach. "I can't believe you're gonna be a mom." She said as we reached the car. "Me either..I really don't think I'm ready for it." I sighed and opened the passengers door of Colby's car. "You will be. I promise, and if you're not then you have all of us. I can't wait to be an aunt!" She squeeled as she got in the back seat with Sam. "You'll be a crazy blue haired aunt" Sam said and nudged her shoulder as Colby pulled out of the driveway, following Jake.

"What if I got pregnant and we had our babies around the same time!" Kat said as Colby grabbed my hand, "Woah slow down babe, only one baby at a time." Sam said with a shaky voice. I turned to look at him and laugh. He looked like he had seen a ghost, "calm down Sammy, I was kidding." Kat said and leaned her head on his shoulder. Colby squeezed my hand gently causing me to look at him, he had his eyes on the road but he was smirking, "what?" I said with a giggle, "nothing, beautiful." He said and brought our intertwined hands to his lips.

The rest of the ride was filled with laughs, music, and subtle drags to eachother. I loved watching Colby interact with Sam. The two of us may be in love, but Sam is his soulmate. I truly believed they would be best friends for life.

We pulled into the parking lot and met with Jake and Tara at the door, "hey guys!" Tara yelled as we walked up, "hey shorty" Colby said and ruffled her hair, "oh fuck off Colby!" She whined as we made our way to the counter. "Sorry T." Colby said after I slapped him on the arm. "Whatever, let's go." She said picking up a hot pink golf ball from the rack. Colby chuckled then walked up to the counter, "2 please." He said and smirked at me. "Alright go ahead and pick your ball color and have fun!" The girl behind the counter said as he eyes flared with admiration at Colby. I picked up a yellow ball and Colby grabbed the blue one, "heh. Looks like you got some blue balls Colby." Jake said and punched Colby on the arm, "no, I think I'm doing okay in that area." He said and pulled me to him, kissing my head. "Ew I don't want to hear that!" Tara said and covered her ears dramatically as Sam and Kat came up.

We spent the next hour playing each hole, all of us slightly letting Kat win. I don't really have to try too hard since I suck at mini golf.

"Okay Tiger" Colby said as I hit the ball into the hole, "shut up I suck at this," I mumbled and leaned into him. "Well you can't be smart, unbelievably sexy AND good at mini golf." He said and kissed the top of my head. "Ha ha. Very funny. Can we get smoothies after this?" I said and wrapped my arms around his waist, burying my face into his chest, "of course baby." He said and rested his cheek on my head.

I looked around at my friends, they were all so happy and in love, I never thought I would find myself with friends, much less the best friends in the world. I was so so lucky, but I was just waiting for it all to go away, because everything ends in my life.

I wasn't ready for it.
