Hi there! It's become clear in comments throughout the chapters that people are confused by Shinichi. So i'll try and break it down a bit... In the vampire diaries books there are villains called Shinichi and Misao who are twin kitsune, kitsune in Japanese mythology are evil fox spirits. For this story I am mixing the tv show and the books together by bringing Shinichi and Misao into a scenario with Klaus and Caroline. I hope this clears any confusion you might have reading the book.

Caroline

"No, no, no! Did I mention, no!"

"Oh come on love! It's the only way to keep you safe. Not until Shinichi leaves," Klaus says appearing in front of where I tried to walk away. "That isn't really your style is it Klaus? Waiting til the fight over? C'mon I mean I can take care of myself, I would rather get taken hostage by Shinichi than stay with you!" I protest angrily turning away from him. "You are safer with me, my love. Elena and Stefan already agreed, so I'm afraid you don't get a say."

"They aren't in charge of me! I can make decisions for myself." I huff making an attempt to leave again but failing when klaus appears in front of me. "Can't you just let me make an exit!?"

"Oh seriously love, it's normally me who does that," he says, grinning.

"Fine klaus, whatever. But I'm don't want any welcome gifts or whatever. And I expect to be roomed next to Hayley," I say quickly. Klaus' joy is evident at my statement so I sigh and vampire run home. Why did I give in? Shinichi with his night black hair and scorched red tips is handsome and would be easier than handling klaus... Why not just submit to Shinichi? There is no way either of them a placing a claw on me while Tyler is gone. So it's settled I stay in the Original mansion not too far away from the chaos of mystic falls, which Damon Elena and Stefan can handle right? Bonnie could easily fight off Misao. I ended the internal war when I got home, explaining to mum that I would go with klaus - mum having already packed my bags (Klaus!) sent me off with a hug and shoved me out the door, where klaus was waiting.

Demonic smile and all.

Klaus

I knew she would give in. I chuckle to myself as I walk to Caroline's house. Tyler had better stay very far away. Soon I get to Caroline's house and wait. A few seconds later Caroline is out the door and desperately trying not to smile, or is that a snarl building? "Ready to leave Love?" I ask stepping to the side so she can walk past. "No, but-" she sighs and I grin. Just as some girl I compelled pulls up in Elijah's car. "Really?" Caroline moans. "I was expecting something... fancier," She says strutting up to the car. Kol was right... she does look good walking away from me. "It's Elijah's car," I explain, opening the door for her. "It's a 2010 Lincoln MKZ, personally not my first choice in car," I say, not really expecting her to care.

"Hmm, you say that like I care." She gets into the passenger side as the compelled girl walks off and forgets everything. I smile internally. "Caroline, Love, this is for your safety," I state rather firmly slamming her door and getting in my side. "Don't call me Love," she growls in a feisty but innocent way. "Of course, Love." After a few minutes of silence she says, "Why are we in Elijah's car?" I don't reply.

Caroline

I will not be able to last much longer. If we ran we would probably get there faster. It is only 7 hours drive and I'm assuming we're not stopping. 5hrs and 40mins left. "Why so quiet Love?"

"I'm stuck in a car with a psycho-egotistical-maniac who insists on making my life a living hell until some stupid self absorbed Japanese Fox Spirit gets over me. That's what's wrong." Klaus laughs and I try desperately to keep my composure. Why did he have to be so damn good looking? "You think I'm good looking?" Oh god! I spoke out loud. quick come up with something witty.

"I was talking about Shinichi," I say looking out the window quickly. Klaus laughs again, seeing straight past my quick lie. "You're stuck with me love, get used to it."
