《The Alpha and I (Book 1)》28. Alpha Ash

"WHY ISN'T SHE BACK YET?!" I scream at Paul and I'm sure whoever else was in the pack house quickly fled. My rage was boiling over, I hadn't heard a thing from her in the two weeks she has been gone, I can't even feel her through the mate bond. She hadn't linked me, called me or sent any of the pack members to join like she said she would.
"Maybe she's busy, it could have been more work then she expected?" Paul tried to reason with me like he has since I read that bloody letter Cici left for me.
"That doesn't explain why no pack members have arrived or why she couldn't warn me she would be longer!" I growl. "I know you said to respect her wishes but I've done the two weeks she asked for, I need to go and find her now." I sigh, I just needed to see her, even from a distance and I'll be ok. "What if she prefers being an Alpha there on her own and has left me?" I whimper, letting Paul see the weakness hidden deep inside for one of the first times.
He places his hand on my shoulder, "she wouldn't do that without telling you, and if that's what she had chosen then your bond would have broken leaving you in agony but that hasn't happened!" I knew he was right, I just felt so unsure when she was gone for this long without a word. "But surprisingly I agree with you... this is not like her, she keeps her word and would have sent contact if her plans changed." I look into his eyes hoping he had an answer for everything I was feeling. " I think we need to take a trip to see her, after all she said two weeks and we gave her that, and anyway she wants to add the lands to our pack so we would just be looking at the new territory?" He suggested.

I loved the way he thought, "yes, we can say we are just looking over the new land, that way when it turns out I was worried for nothing I don't seem stupid!" I grab him and press my forehead to his in a sign of thanks and respect... he gave me a way around what Cici wanted and on top of that he gave me a way that doesn't make me look pathetic.
