Inspiration is everywhere. You just have to discover where your inspiration comes from. I’ll give you some examples.

Let’s start with movies. Movies are great because they have a story. The type of movie you will watch will give you the inspiration for the type of book you’re going to write. Pick up your favourite movie. Then, pay attention to the story and to the characters. You can grab a notebook and a pencil and take notes. What do the characters do when they’re lying? Do they look away? When a guy says he’s in love to a girl what does he do? Does he look to her in her eyes? Does he look to his hands nervously?

You can take notes about how the characters act in some situations.

Then, we have music. Music is my best friend. Choose a song you like and then pay attention to the lyrics. Do they tell you a story? Most of the times the answer to this question is yes! Taylor Swift always tells a story in her songs. For example “I knew you were trouble” gives me inspiration to write a story about an innocent girl that fell in love with a guy but the guy didn’t love her and left her and now she’s heartbroken. Another song to do these type of things is Criminal by Britney Spears. This song makes me think about an innocent girl that turns into a bad girl because of her boyfriend and both become criminals. Some good artists to do this are: Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, One Direction, Cody Simpson, Taylor Swift, Cher Lloyd, Britney Spears, Lana Del Rey…

We also have inspiration in our life. Remember that funny story that happened to you when you were 8 years old? Well you can write about that. You can write about memories. If you don’t remember funny things that happened to you in the past ask your family. They’ll probably remember something.

“Hey, do you want to know a funny story that happened with that girl from our class?” If you’re friend asks you that and you’re thinking you don’t want to hear a silly story, you probably will have to think again. If your friend is going to tell you a story hear it. Maybe that story can give you inspiration to write yours.
