The next day when sun rises, there was a knock at the door. It was a disciple trying to wake them up as it was time according to Gusu rules.

Disciple: I was asked to wake you up. It's time. For breakfast

The family wakes up and goes to the dining hall. Upon reaching Wei Ying hears a voice

WY: Wei Ying! Sit here.

He wanted to avoid his husband at all cost so he tried to find a spot other than the available. Unfortunately there was none. Lan Zhan expression changes, but so subtly that only his brother can tell.

kid 2: it tastes sooo good

kid 1: ahhh (opens his mouth) momma feed me

LZ: You should eat too Wei Ying. There is plenty

He starts to eat slowly but ends uo coughing badly. Lan Zhan quickly brings him water, and was about to pat him, but withdraws his hands before he is able to do so.

After the breakfast Lan Xichen ie Lan zhans brother decides to have a chat with the family.

LZ: Will you and your kids will like to join some activities of GuSu?

Wei ying ignores him but lan xichen comes and says the same thing

WY : okay as u say Zewun Jun

# kid 1: what is night hunting mommy

WY: its fighting with monsters. You kids are going to stay in your room

XiChen (XC): why don't you see for yourself kid. You will love it

WY: But it will be dangerous for them Zewun Jun, they r only five

XC: Exposing early can help them dealing with the situations better when they grow up. Plus we will be with them make sure nothing happens to them. You have my confidence

Wei Ying was worried but eventually he agrees

WY: kids do not make trouble stay behind me and if u need anything u can ask zewun jun

XC: Your kids are lovely. Aren't they Wangji?

LZ: hm

As they walk out of their sect Wangji decides to confront his brother

LZ: why did u invite them brother?

XC: I thought you wanted them to come? or didnt you?

Lan Zhan however finds unable to say anything. After reaching their destination they enter cautiously. The kids try their best to stick with their mother when suddenly a zombie shows up out of nowhere

WY: be careful kids

kid 2: what r those mom they look awful

WY: they r zombies do not go near them

LZ: CAREFUL!!

he shouts as he grabs onto the other kid who was about to be snatched by the zombie

LZ: everyone be alert, Im sensing lots of evil energy here.

kid 1: i wanna fight too momma i wanna protect you

WY: not now Yuan when u grow up u will. Now let me protect u now stay with your brother, dont leave his side.

LZ: ( to kid2) stay close

Lan Zhan sits down and takes out his GuQuin. He plays some notes while few notes play by themselves. The kids stare at him inn awe, while Wei Ying looks at him with ahint of nostalgia. Xichen however nods with understanding as, like his brother, he is well familiar with this language

XC: Well looks like they r just some wandering spirits. They mean no harm. Poor villagers, they scared them.

WY: Then I think our job here is finished they wont disturb us anymore

LZ: hm

XC : *smiles * kids what did you think?

kid 1: that was amazing i also wanna know how to fight so I can protect my mommy.

kid 2: me too

Wei Ying smiles at them with adoration and love, proud of his kids.

LZ: We are done here. We should go back.
