Never regret anything that made you smile.
-Mark Twain.
-Maggie-
"Mags, please let me in." I sobbed in my pillow as Sarah lightly knocked on my door. I just put Graham to sleep in his crib, but right after I closed my door I broke down.
"I got Ben and Jerry's." Sarah said awhile after. I froze and lifted my head from my pillow a little bit.
"Cookie dough?" I asked loud enough for her to hear.
"Yeah and you better open the door to eat it because I had to fight an old lady for it. It was the last tub." I managed to smile as I sniffled. I stood up and opened the door to see a concerned Sarah with the ice cream, two spoons, and her laptop.
"You don't have to say anything if you don't want to. Let's just get fat and watch Friends on Netflix." She suggested.
I gave her a weak smile and grabbed the ice cream. "I have no problem with that whatsoever." Sarah laughed and clicked on the very first episode of Friends.
The theme song came up and we started to belt out the lyrics.
"So no one told you life was gonna be this way! Your job's a joke you're broke, your love life's D.O.A-"
I stopped singing to cry again. Not all the lyrics applied to me but I'm very emotional today.
Sarah rubbed my back as I wailed and stuffed my mouth with ice cream. "This Ice cream is so good." I stated sadly as I ate more of it.
Sarah smirked and took a bite of her own. "So is this." She replied. I looked at it and started to cry again.
"I feel so bad now! Everyone hates Vanilla because it's so plain. Why are they hating so much?" I sobbed and took some of Sarah's ice cream with my spoon.
"It's okay, I'll love you." I put the spoon in my mouth and ate the ice cream. Sarah pouted and scrunched up her nose. "That's my ice cream." She said. I waved her off.
"Shh, the episode started a long time ago." I rested my head on her shoulder as Rachel was whizzing out about being a run away bride.

-Luke-
I walked inside the tall building by the beach and made my way to the elevators. I couldn't get anyone to take down the website at school, but I know someone else that can.
After walking down the halls on the fifth floor, I made my way to one of the suites at the end. A little bit of anger was still inside me so I knocked a little to loud. I heard some loud curses from the other side of the door and smirked.
Typical.
The door opened and I faced my best friend. "Luke Banfield? Is that really you?" Miranda asked. I grinned and nodded my head. "The one and only." I stated.
She gave me a once over as she opened the door wider. "Well I'll be damned! Puberty hit you hard!" She exclaimed. I glared at her and sighed.
"All I did was get rid of my glasses." I said. Miranda scoffed as she closed the door. "You also gave Proactive a five star review." She retorted.
I groaned and threw my hands up in frustration. "I had sensitive skin, okay? It's not my fault I had acne." She laughed and pulled her hair up into a messy bun.
"Yeah okay. So what brings you here? How've you been?" I shook my head.
"Okay I guess. I need your help with something though." Miranda held up her hand. "Okay, wait right there. I was planning to go to the cafe down the street. Let me slip on some shoes and we'll talk there, yeah? I need some coffee." I nodded my head and plopped down on the bed. "Mm kay."
*********
"So what do you need?" She asked. I bit my lip. "Okay, today at school, someone made a website making up a story about this girl I know. I wanted to know if you can take it down." Miranda smirked and quirked an eyebrow. "Who's this girl?" She wiggled her eyebrows and I laughed.
"Her name's Maggie and she doesn't deserve what people are giving her." I replied. Miranda widened her eyes.
"Aww, Luke is helping yet another soul. I'll do it, but it's going to take me a bit of time. Fifteen minutes tops." I nodded my head and gave her a thankful smile as we walked in the cafe.
"I owe you one Miranda." She waved it off. "Just buy me food and you'll be fine." I laughed and went up to the counter to order her some food.
************
"Done. The website has been demolished." Miranda shut her laptop and looked up at me. "Tell me more about this Maggie girl."
I sighed and told her every single thing I know so far. Miranda blinked as I finished speaking.
"You like her." She stated. I furrowed my eyebrows. "As a friend yeah. She's pretty cool." Miranda laughed and shook her head.
"No, I mean you like her. You have feelings for her." I rolled my eyes. "Go sit in an ice bucket, Miranda. I don't even know much about her."
"But you still like her for the few things that you do know. I want to meet her." She ordered. I bit my lip.
"I think I can arrange something for you two to meet, but no promises. She kind of hates me right now." Miranda nodded.
"That's understandable. Anyways, I gotta scram. Here's my number, make sure you keep in touch or else I'll beat you." We both stood up from the booth and walked out of the cafe.
I gave her a hug as we exit. "Greet your family for me. Oh, and tell Finley that I'm still the one and only football player in Bath." Miranda laughed and waved me off.
"Alright. Bye Luke." I got in my car and started to drive back home. First thing I'll do in school tomorrow is make sure those rumors stop about my M- friend. My friend.

-Maggie-
"I'm going to kill Saskia. I'll rip out those hair extensions and choke her with them before grabbing her foot and shoving it really far up her- Oh! Hey the website was taken down." I widened my eyes at Sarah and took the laptop from her.
The website was actually gone. I don't know why but a little bit of weight was lifted off my shoulders. I felt my lips tugging up into a smile but I hid it with my hand.
There's only one person who would do this.
"I don't think you should push him away." Sarah said, as if reading my mind. I looked up at her and bit my lip.
"Sarah, I'm not used to someone besides you acting this way towards me. It creeps me out." I admitted. Sarah sighed and tilted her head.

"That shows that he's a good person. Give him a chance to at least be your friend." I groaned and nodded my head.
"Okay." She smiled and was about to speak but then Graham started crying. I sighed and stood up.
"Give me a second." Sarah pouted as I walked in Graham's room. "I'm here." I said as I picked him up.
I paced around the room with him and quietly hummed.
I noticed he was burning up again and sighed. "Sarah, could you get me some vapor rub? He's snotting up again." She walked in the room a few minutes later.
"We're all out." She replied. I frowned and walked in my room with Graham resting on my hip. "I'll go to he grocery store and buy some more. I need a few stuff anyways. You wanna come?" I asked. Sarah scrunched up her nose.
"Nah, I don't want to leave Harold alone." She replied, plopping down on my bed. I narrowed my eyes in confusion.
"Who's Harold?" Sarah hit my bed. "Your mattress. I named him." I snorted and put on my slide on Toms.
"Okay. I'll be back soon." I walked downstairs after putting a one piece on Graham and grabbed my keys before heading out. On the way I turned on the radio and smiled as Graham kicked his feet to it.
The drive wasn't so long so soon I was pushing Graham through the frozen foods aisle as he sat in the cart. I opened the fridge door and grabbed a box of honey popsicles before plopping it in the cart.
"Okay Graham, we have the popsicles, vapor rub, baby shampoo, a new pacifier, bibs, and diapers. What else?" My eyes widened as I remembered the last item.
"Butt paste!" I exclaimed. I heard a snicker behind me and turned around to see Luke.
I felt my head warm up in embarrassment as I cleared my throat. "Uh, hi." I said awkwardly. Luke gave me a surprised expression.
"You aren't mad?" He asked. I sighed and scratched the mosquito bite I had on my arm. "I- At first I- Maybe it was- ugh." I huffed in frustration when I kept on stuttering. Luke smirked but he made his face go straight when I glared at him.
I sighed and started to speak again. "No. I'm not mad. I don't even know why I was to be honest." I replied. He nodded and peeked behind me with a small smile. "Is he your baby?" He asked. I turned to look at Graham, who was trying to put his foot in his mouth. I kissed my teeth and gave him his pacifier instead.
"Yeah, this is Graham." I rubbed my neck and stepped aside as Luke walked towards him. "Would you look at that. He's like a mini you, except for his eyes. How old is he, five months?" I smiled and shook my head.
"Six actually." I corrected. A lot of people usually saw Graham around that age. He was a little smaller than his actual age.
"Now that I think about it, I've never asked. Who's the dad?" Luke asked. I smiled sadly and gestured my hand as if I were throwing something away.
"He's not in the picture. Never was and never will be." I answered. Luke frowned and shook his head.
"I feel like an idiot for asking now." Usually, I would be uncomfortable speaking about Graham's father. That's why it surprised me when I didn't feel as weird like I do with other people when talking about him. I don't know, there's just somehing that makes me want to step out just a little.
"It's okay really. He never stuck around. He left the moment he got what he wanted." I mumbled.
Luke hummed and tilted his head.
"I'm not going to say sorry because his actions can't be forgiven. What I will say though, is that he is definitely missing out on something. Graham seems like a wonderful child." Luke picked up the pacifier that fell on Graham's lap and gave it back to him. Graham started sucking on it as he stared back at Luke.
I smiled as Luke softly tickled Graham's foot with his finger. Graham smiled and started to giggle. I was so caught up in watching them that something warmed me up, but then I realized something and frowned.
"Listen, I should go now. I need to grab his butt paste and I'm pretty sure the honey popsicles I have in the cart will start melting soon. See you tomorrow?" I asked. Luke looked up from his tickle session with a laughing Graham and smiled.
"Right, of course." I grabbed my cart and waved at him before walking off with a sigh.
"Maggie." I stopped walking and turned around.
"Yeah?"
"I forgot to ask if you were okay." I furrowed my eyebrows and bit my lip. I would answer that question but I honestly don't know myself. I mean phisically, yes, of course. But emotionally? That's something else. I sighed and just answered with two words that mean so many things.
"I'm fine."

-Luke-
I walked in my house with the groceries and placed all the bags on the kitchen island. "What's with the Chuckie grin?" My dad asked.
He was reading a sports magazine while my mum was chopping mushrooms. "Nothing. I just saw Maggie at the store and I met Graham." I answered them nonchalantly as I took out the groceries my mum needed.
"Oh. Who's Graham?" My mum asked. I didn't want to tell them that Maggie was a mum. It's not because I'm worried what they'll think. My parents aren't really judgemental people. I didn't want to tell them because I don't know if Maggie would be okay with that or not. Yes, people at school know but I don't know if she was comfortable with them knowing.
"One of her family members." I replied. On my defence it was completely true. They are family.
"Oh, well that's nice. How was school?" Dad asked. I tilted my head. "It was okay. I got offered a spot on the football team." I stated. When Parker had wanted to introduce me to someone, it was the football coach. Apparently the coach had read my file and saw that I used to play football back in Bath. He asked me if I wanted a spot on the team and let me show him what I could do with my feet.
After that I accepted the spot he offered me. Parker and I ended up hitting it off. He's laid back and knows the perfect timing to crack a joke or something. I met a few more other guys on the football team here.
"That's so nice! You haven't played since we moved from Bath. Please tell me you accepted it." Mum asked. I grinned and nodded my head.
"I did. Anyways, I need to go upstairs and start on my homework. I'll be finished by the time the food is ready." I announced.
They nodded. "Barcelona plays against Columbia today." My dad reminded. I whistled in acknowledgement as I made my way out of the kitchen.
I started homework and internally scolded myself for not getting Maggie's number. I was too busy playing with Graham. He's a really cute baby, then again, he got most of his genes from Maggie. That baby could film commercials for Gerber.
After finishing the last of my homework before heading downstairs to watch the football game with my dad.
"Who has the lead?" I asked as I sat on the couch.
"Barcelona three, Columbia two." I nodded and watched the rest of the game until dinner was ready.
Right when a goal was about to be made, the channel changed to some cooking show.
"Babe! Come on, please. Let us finish the game." My dad begged as my mum sat on the recliner. She smiled and shook her head. "This is payback for what you did." She said.
Dad quirked an eyebrow and stood up, slowly making his way to her. "Well, if you're still upset about that then let me make it up to you." He threw her over his shoulder and ran up the stairs.
I shuddered and decided to just go in my room and blast my music.
Something loud would do.
************
-Maggie-
"Maggie, he was just playing with Graham, not becoming his step dad. You're over thinking things, it happens, but give him a chance. Okay?" Sarah said.
I nodded my head. When I got home I told Sarah that I ran into Luke. I also told her how he made Graham laugh and played with him. The thing that scares me is that Graham will attach himself to Luke.
I'm not jealous, but I don't want Graham to get attached to him because if things go wrong between Luke and I through our friendship, well I don't want Graham to have to lose someone. I don't want him to get hurt as he gets older.
"You're right. I'm over thinking. Okay, we should go to sleep now. Just two more days till Saturday." I said, yawning. We didn't have anything in particular planned for the weekend. I usually use my weekends to hang out with Graham. I still get play time with him throughout the week but not as much as I want to, only for half an hour at least. On weekends I spend the whole entire day with him.
"Goodnight." Sarah got under the covers with me and turned off my lamp. I did the same and closed my eyes. "Goodnight."
It was silent after awhile and my brain wasn't letting me sleep. I kept on thinking about random things.
Okay Mags, just breathe and don't think about anything............
I think it's working. It's working, it's- dammit!
I groaned and scratched my forehead. "Sarah?"
"Yeah?" She whispered. I bit my lip and contemplated on whether or not I should tell her about what I really dreamt about last time, but I couldn't. I wanted to so badly but I couldn't. She would be so disappointed in me and I can't lose the only person I have left who cares about me.
Luke cares about you
Shut up brain! I sighed and shook my head. "Nothing, goodnight."
She hummed and I could already hear her faint snores. Soon I fell asleep too and smiled as rest went through my system, but then Graham woke up and started crying.
Looks like I'll be staying up all night now.
